Ran's eyes go wide a the sight of the skeletal zombie like dinosaur as it rises up.
"Crikey, was that what you were looking for?" Ran calls to Mica.
Ran than scans the area quickly, looking for either dense forest or a steep incline or hills.
"We need to either get to somewhere too small for it to get into or up somewhere steep," Ran says. "It's got to be hard for something like that to scramble up a hill, eh?"
He scans their surroundings for anything that might be suitable and if there is, starts making his way there.
Meili's eyes widened at the sight of the grotesque figure raising up from the pit. The adrenaline was still pumping through her veins and the chill of the spell somewhat blocked the smells, otherwise, that mountain of rotting flesh could kill anyone by the stench alone. She took a cautious step back asserting the chances of fighting and fleeing. The latter looked like the only option.
"We can run back and scatter. It can not follow all of us at once. I can try to lead it away." Meili was not suicidal, just proved already to be the fastest, even if not the most agile.
Nalomanterys is stunned by the sight of the enormous putrescent dinosaur and looks ready to run. "Yes! Run!" He follows Raninto whatever crevice or up any hill and lets Meili distract it, if she wants.
Ran, the creek cuts its way through low hills topped with jungle. The bottom itself is roughly 80' wide and continues back the way you came [where you chased the wight]for several hundred feet before the terrain levels out. To either side of where you stand, the hills rise on sharp inclines to about 30' and then level off as far you can see, with palms and other trees on the top.
The creek also continues ahead of you around a bend [past the giant monster] but you don't have line of sight to see where it leads.
[If everyone runs, we will drop initiative, for now [since you all get to go before the monster anyway]. Please do the following:
Make 3 Athletics checks.
Describe where you are running [ie. down the creek bed, up the hillside, etc.] and which direction [north, south, etc.]
If you run up either hillside, add another Athletics or Acrobatics check [keep it separate from the other rolls so I know which one it is]
If you do anything other than run, please specify your actions as clearly as possible, and include any rolls you think might be appropriate [I will call for more rolls if necessary]
Best wishes!]

Ran looks around quickly taking in the terrain.
"Where's a sewer drain when you need one?" he mutters as he does.
Figuring the zombie-dino can probably make good time in a straight line, heading back down the river seems suicidal He looks up the hills through the jungle and decides on the hill to the south so he doesn't have to cross the river.
"I'm going up," Ran says.
Seeing Nalomanterys following, he's torn. Does it make more sense for Ran to go first in case they run into any more ghouls at the top, or does it make more sense to keep his armored back between the dino and Nalo. He decides to race up first, clearing the way of trouble if he can.
"Ms. Meili, look for lights above the trees when you are safe. Good luck!" Nalomanterys yells as he crosses over the stream and follows Ran up the hill. "With us! Ms. Meili is distracting the beast!"

"Meili is enough,"repeated Meili Danica's phrase from yesterday. It's amazing what kind of insignificant matters the brain can cling to in moments of crisis! The eyes and the body worked, though. Meili could not run right away and first had to make sure the monster was going to concentrate on her. The girl let the monster come closer and sent her boomerang at it.

Once the weapon returned to her hand (and the monster demonstrated signs of noticing being attacked and following her) she ran as well.

Mica takes a look and staggers back, eyes wide at the sight of the dead dinosaur rising and turning toward them. “Not quite what I was looking for, it’s been dead far too long”He shouts back toward Ran.
As Hew calls for the group to run, Mica needs no encouragement. He hesitates briefly as Meili offers to lure the dinosaur away, looking toward the direction Ran and Nalomanterys went, before deciding to move with Meili instead. No one goes alone, especially after Inete. He raises his bow and sends an arrow toward the head of the creature and moves in the same general direction as Meili “Easier to distract it with two of us” he shouts.

In your hurry, your arrow flies wide. Embarrassing, really, as this this is literally as broad as barn. You do see that Meili hit the rotten thing, however, and then both of you dash up the southern hillside.
You must be getting the hang of this jungle. You pick the strongest vines to tug, giving yourself a boost up the hillside. You know which root masses are firm enough to plant your feet on, and which ones are too spongey and should be jumped over. Even as you hear the spine-chilling sound of that enormous undead thing cresting the hill and crashing into the jungle behind you, you know feel a rush at how easily you slip through the jungle foliage. Meili is right behind you, and you do your best to lead on through the best possible escape route.
Your heart is soon pounding in your chest and you are sweating profusely in the jungle heat. But soon the sound of snapping trees and crashing underbrush fades behind you. You slow and then stop, not wanting to get any further from the rest of the party than you must.
Its only when you turn behind you that you see Meili is no longer there. Somewhere along the way, the two of you were separated. For the moment, you're completely alone. The jungle around you is quiet, the only sound the distant crashing of the gargantuan zombie dinosaur. You can't see it though the jungle but it sounds to be north of your position.

It's such a good feeling when things go according to plan.
The two of you scramble up the southern hillside without difficulty. Though the exertion of climbing temporarily slows Ran, he is able to build momentum back up and lead the way, smashing through tall grasses and leaves the size of a man. Nalomanterysfollows behind as closely as he can... though Randoes take bit of a lead, the wizard is able to keep him in sight.
There is a bit of concern when you see Meiliand Micaare leading this thing south as well, but you quickly outpace the monster. You hear it crash into the jungle in pursuit of your comrades, but the angle soon takes it further east.
When the sounds of the monster uprooting trees and snapping branches fades into the distance, the two of you slow down and take stock of your surroundings. The rest of your party are nowhere in sight, but at least you have each other!

You and Hewbarely have time to react, as Meiliand Micatry to draw the horror's attention to them and then everyone is running south up the hillside.
Both you and Hewget tangled in the branches of a fallen tree on the hillside, leaving you both behind the others. As you reach the top of the hill, the monster is taking its first steps up the bottom. From then on, it is practically on top of you, with trees snapping and toppling all around as the thing blitzes its way through the jungle in a mad pursuit of your allies.
On the bright side, it isn't paying you any attention, its sole focus on Meili. Unfortunately, it is gargantuan and the angle of pursuit its taken toward her takes it right over top of you and the guide. Gigantic, rotten feet, each more than 5' across, slam into the jungle floor around you and pieces of the canopy fall to block your path.
"We'll be trampled!" Hew tries to warn you, and then you lose sight of him as a broken tree falls between you. And then it on top, passing over you. He seems almost effortless as he ducks under branches and leaps over stumps. You do your best to follow in his footsteps but slowly he pulls away from you.
Whereas Mica seems one with the jungle, Chult seems to be doing its best to slow you down. Brambles tug at your cloak and roots threaten to catch your ankles. And through it all, you hear the enormity of the monster right behind you. While you zig and zag, weaving through the undergrowth, this gigantic thing is just smashing its way through the jungle in pursuit of you. Palm trees bend and hardwoods shatter as it charges, its enormous feet making the earth shudder like rolling thunder.

Every time Meili thought she finally got it and understands at least how to walk through the jungle - Chult threw yet another curved boll to bring her down. This time, her speed, that she was so proud of (and worked hard to achieve) turned to be only good for the green hills of the Swordcoast. The jungles where not the terrain to run around.
When the monster finally caught up with her, it took all her training to avoid the vicious blows. But now path forward was cut off. Meili turned around and run back to the creek.
[Excellent choice to burn the inspiration. I think Meili would have been DEAD DEAD otherwise.]
You tumble and roll out of the way of the creature's thundering footsteps. A tree falls across your path, but also provides you a bit of cover. The gargantuan undead dinosaur slows, turns, and comes back toward you. As you brace for another attack, you see it swing its neck in a long arc over its own trail, searching. It has lost sight of you for the moment, but has not given up the hunt.
As you plan your next move, it once again trumpets, and the trumpet once again turns into a spray of gore and green mist from its rotten nostils. This green haze spreads out along the ground and passes over you.

The short break in the deadly pursuit allowed Meili to use her brain in addition to her clumsy feet. The cloak! She looked around for the best spot to pretend to be a pile of vegetation or a suitable hole to dive in.

Ran and Nalomanterys:
Ran stops once they've made it up the hill and away from the undead monster. As Nalomanterys catches up, Ran scans the terrain to the east, in the direction the others went.
"You okay?" Ran asks the wizard without taking his gaze from the east.
Finally he nods and turns.
"We better follow that bloody beast's trail. Some of the others could be hurt."
As soon as he's sure Nalomanterys is okay, Ran will begin bulldozing a path through the jungle towards the direction the others should be, though making sure not to go too quickly. There's no need to catch the giant zombie.
Nalomanterys brushes some mud flecks off the the upper portion of his bright blue robe, and his long blue scarf, usually pulled tight around his neck, has come loose so he readjusts it to normal. After catching his breath and getting himself in order, he assures the warrior that he's alright: "I am uninjured, Mr. Deadgleam, just a bit winded is all. What say we take a res--- ah... yes, I suppose we ought to see if everyone else has escaped it."
Nalomanterys follows close behind Ran and keeps dancing lights active while they walk, keeping the floating orbs as high as they can go (120 ft), hopefully over the tree line so their allies might be able to see them from the top of a hill. Admittedly the spell works better at night, but... oh well.
Ran: Perception DC 13
While Nalomanterys' scarf is loose from running, you can see that he uses it to hide a a disfiguration of some kind: badly scarred flesh across his neck, as if by terrible burns or acid, except the scars stop in a neat line right around his Adam's apple.

CON save DC 13: 19
The short break in the deadly pursuit allowed Meili to use her brain in addition to her clumsy feet. The cloak! She could not fly at this bright sun but the brownish-greenish-dark colours were a perfect camouflage, and she was even warned about it.

Survival if needed to follow: 16
