“In the dark is when I do my best work! But I prefer we work on one project at a time! And this missing people and fortress notice my inclination for gold and fame! I want us to be known across the land for vanquishing whatever there is there, and then we can also deal with these needling issues, cause no one throws a dart like me! We will show them who’s mightier!” Mighty is riled up and breathing hard, then remembering he just suggested they sleep to morning, returns to calm.
"Well, s'long as folks know not to take t' wanderin' in tha night..."Agnes says reluctantly, biting her lip. "I 'spose there ain't too much harm in headin' t'tha ruins come first light." At the thought, she perks up quite a bit, and smiles. "Gosh, I ain't like t'get any sleep 'tall! I can't wait to get there'n find what's happened to tha townsfolk!"
"Ay, my friends, sounds like tha townsfolk have taken appropriate precautions. Let's focus on the main job fer now." Sharzin yawns, finishing is drink and slamming it down on the table.
"we hunt first at first light my comrades. If shit hits the fan for the cow murdering while we rest, we can take of it then." he smirks excited to get to the task at hand.
He'd nod then. "Alright then. First light, gotta have my stuff ready... so, I guess I'll be heading to bed then. Better that then stay down here and get drunk, which I know will happen..." He'd slip off the stool and make his way upstairs to claim a room. "I'll see you all then."
The next day you set off for the citadel. The Old Road passes to the east of a narrow ravine. At the road’s closest approach to the cleft, several broken pillars jut from the earth where the ravine widens. Two of the pillars stand straight, but most lean atop sloped earth. Others are broken, and several have apparently fallen into the dark depths. A few similar pillars are visible on the opposite side of the ravine.
A sturdy, knotted rope is tied to one of the leaning pillars on this side of the ravine.
Sergei approaches the rope and examines the knot. If satisfied by its strength, he will give it a pull to see if it might hold him, or better yet Sharzin, on an angled descent.
"Just like pickin' apples..." He mutters under his breath, tugging the rope.
"Ladders and baskets! Anybody care to peep over the edge, there?"
"Ay, Mighty you're a skilled climber yeah? I can climb up right after ya seein this rope looks pretty sturdy."
He watches as Sergei tugs at the rope, examining its strength and wishing her brought along his own climbing gear to assist in this venture. He'll keep watch on the group's rear for the time being.
“Oh mighty is mighty indeed! But mighty is best when he goes second or third!” Patting one of the melee fighters in the group “as long as one of you gets there just before me, I can bring the cavalry! Or I should I say, the rain!”
noticing they didn’t catch his joke, “the darts, and the daggers. A storm of darts and daggers! He ha hi ho, heeeyah!” he shows off some mimicked but dextrous kungfu knife moves.
"Oy why not just climb up on my back? I can can kill 2 birds one stone (how heavy is mighty?) haha we can bring the bruises and thing rain same time." Sharzin smiles grasping the rope ready to climb.
Sharzin and Mighty begin to descend the rope. As you go down, you see weathered handholds and footholds that assist you. When they reach the bottom they find a sandy ledge that overlooks a subterranean gulf of darkness to the west. The ledge is wide but rough. Sand, rocky debris, and the bones of small animals cover it. A rough-hewn stairwell zigs and zags down the side of the ledge, descending into darkness. Sharzin notices three large rats hiding in the rubble.
If everyone would roll initiative. Currently I have Sharzin with Mighty on his shoulders on the landing and the rest of the party 50ft above them.
The rats rush forward. 2 of them attack Sharzin Attack: 13 Damage: 4 and Attack: 12 Damage: 1. The last one jumps up towards Mighty and tries to bite him Attack: 2 Damage: 1

"Th' smallest 'n lightest out t' try 'n peek," Agnes suggests, looking at Mighty. "And bravest."
"Once yer in a spot t'see, I'll toss a glowing stone down so ya can see."
