The man's slack jawed, vapid look to Irmiel's first question "Who are you? As people?"....leaves the conversation in a sudden lull, before the man, his face squishing up in an effort to understand what she's asking, eventually says, "Me Dolf."
Deciding to move on, Irmiel asks "Where is this place?". Now her line of questioning appears to be sending poor Dolf into a existential crisis. His face looks confused and panicked, and he says, "This place is......here. It's caves. It under desert." His face shows sudden relief as if he's discovered the secret of the ages, and he nods confidently, before repeating, "Under desert."
Dolf scratches his head to her last question, "Uh....me 'fraid o' Queen. Uuuh, we on 'lert cause Shadow'thingy guys show up at Queen's light door an' so we fight 'em."

“Let me just put this away from our new friend and I will be there.” Llwyd said pilling the captive’s weapons away from him. He heard tell of tale about rogues escaping with hidden blades or potions. Convenient acids that only ever eat the ropes. The druid didn’t know if such thing existed, but saw no harm in making extra sure Dolf didn’t have anything to use in a escape attempt.
As the interrogatory started the satyr whispered another pray to Silvanus. Hands entangled, holding his totem between the palms, casting Guidance upon himself. He then focused every inch of his attention on the man, looking for any sign of lie. Did Dolf look away when speaking? On the direction of the roof or ground? Did his breath change or his body or voice tensed any further? He didn’t see to repeat many words. None unnaturally.
Maybe it was the habit of speaking in the tongue of druids, but Llwyd had some difficulty understanding what the prisoner spoke. Languages are taught too formally and the human’s speech was all but that. Thick accent, strange grammatic, not slow. I just hope I don’t misunderstand what is being said.
“I have a question too. Is the queen the woman accompanying you?”She didn’t seem very queenly to the druid. Her security was too light and the way Dolf spoke of her was almost like a fanatic speaking of a deity or spirit. “This queen is queen of what?”

Super secret Dolf roll : 20
As far as Llwyd can tell, it seems as if this rather dull creature is incapable of lying. It continues to stare vacantly about as it answers questions, interrupted only by the occasional random high pitched cackle that is starting to seem like more of a mental tick than actual humor.
He nods vapidly at Llwyd, "Ya, she queen! Queen..of...of...all. Us. Caves. Desert. She own it all. Hehe...he..HA...."
Irmiel watched the guy helplessly struggling with her questions - a terribly familiar sight. Sometimes education could be such a burden...
"Guess, it settled then. Desert plus ruined city... We are in the remnants of Hlaungadath somewhere in northwestern Anauroch. Lovely. I wonder if the queen originates from the ancient netheresians as well - it seems some could survive the crash. But can that woman over there be really the queen itself?"She looked at Dolf doubtfully. "The queen is standing right there" (Irmiel pointed in the direction) "and watches you digging? Really?"
(the group has withdrawn quite far from the 'dig' site with their captor, so Imriel can't point directly, but she can use her words to give the guy the gist, plus she saw the woman through the eyes of her owl so she can describe her a bit.)
Irmiel says, "So, the woman where you were digging, the lady wearing a blue dress, and sitting in the fancy gilded chair is the queen?" As she says it out loud, she realizes the answer seems a bit obvious.
Dolf's slack jaw twitches into a grin and he laughs once more, "HEHEHE.....um.." then his face falls back to serious and he nods with enthusiasm, "Yup...da queen. She gunna EAT you." He makes a sudden gobbling motion with his face...then he grins up at Irmiel, "hehe..." then goes serious, "no no, she no eat you....Dolf joke..." then he locks eye contact with Irmiel and licks his lips in a rather threatening way.

Irmiel shuddered involuntarily at the hungry look in the man's eyes. Suddenly, she felt that an ambush was not such a terrible idea after all... She did not mind the existence of the cannibal tribes in theory but the idea of being appointed as the main course felt... unpleasant.
She broke eye contact with the cannibal and stepped away. "An interesting queen indeed. Travelling, allowed in the elven cities, commanding local tribes and at least thinking she commands shadovar too." Irmiel went silent but not for the lack of words. She wanted to talk to Belaern. "Any ideas who might that be?"
"This queen certainly sounds like she might be more than she seems," Sistri offers. To Dolf she asks, "Why was that shadovar there with you? Does he serve the queen also?"
Dolf's head bobs back and forth betweens peoples faces as they ask questions. His face swings to Sistri, "Uuuuh, Shadow-whoosit ....ya, he serves Queen fer sure. Till she's dun wit him! Haaha...he...he....."
Then he looks over to Kris, "She is our beauti'ful Queen! She IS magic. She can loook like lots of things."
Belaern gives Irmiel's question a mental shrug, "Oh, some pathetic old has-been whose covering up her mortal age and wrinkles with a bit of magic. Doesn't seem like it would take much to fool this moron or his friends into worshipping you as their god. Maybe even you could do it. Though....her connection to the Shadovar is unclear and concerning."

"Nice one - "old has-been","laughed Irmiel. The answer was not precise but at the moment she more appreciated the funny part. "According to my sources, the queen is an old mortal magic-user, specializing in charm and deception". She shared the exact description given by Belaern. "Wish we could remove her covering magic, though it's not an option and most likely would not help with her worshippers either." (she looked at Dolf with disgust) Irmiel was talking freely, not expecting Dolf to follow the conversation.
"Interesting, though. Both the drow and that queen fully believe that they refused and fooled shadovar. Yet both of them expect and are afraid of their attack. I think if that group can really dig up something valuable, either the shadovar in the group alone will kill them or he will give a signal to some forces on alert."
Sistri listens to the others for a moment, still amazed they are now under the desert. Sources Irmiel says. Sistri wonders just how much they should all trust sources. Suddenly, she recalls the things they have seen along their path. "As we came here, we have seen dead jackals. Do you know about these creatures? And we found discarded clothing, like yours." She nods her head towards Dolf. "You have any idea why it would just be discarded like that?"
"An illusionist, or an enchantress. Or both?"Kris suggests. She turns to Dolf, a bright look in her eye. "Ooh! Have you ever seen her consult a spellbook? All wizards need those, don't they?"
"Hmm. Alright, not a wizard. Or, at least, not entirely a wizard. Very peculiar, indeed." Kris whispers to her companions. "Well, we should return him to his queen, shouldn't we? And then, should we backtrack around this queen and her lackeys? I feel there is value in exploration of the city beyond a confrontation with these sort."
"Return to the queen?"Kris was right of course, - as disgusting and dangerous as he was, what else they could do about the guy? - but ... maybe not right away? "I mean, sure, we can do it but he will immediately tell her about us. And I'm still curious about what they will dig up." Irmiel looked the disgusting being up and down calculating.
"For sure they will send someone else after him. We can either incapacitate him or drop him to sleep right before he is found. Then any story he tells will be taken as a hallucination or a dream to justify his laziness. How does it sound?" And before Llwyd suggested a more permanent solution added: "If he disappears or is found killed, they will get suspicious and begin to look for the enemy."
“I think it would be better to keep him tied and capture everyone who comes looking for him. I mean, it is unlikely his whole group will go into searching. Manageable bit by manageable bit we can bring their group down easier. Maybe easily enough to not have to outright kill them. With some luck we could even reach a point when wouldn’t need to deal with anyone besides the Shadovar and this queen.” Who may just be the higher threat. By her dialogue, described by Irmiel, Llwyd thought her rather bubbling. Something akin to a unscrupulous and unskilled version of Kris. “By the way, can you know if magic was used to tempered his mind?” He asked the wizard. The druid found something strange, almost unnatural in the way Dolf suddenly laughed. Maybe he was brainwashed. Although, truth be told, magic was not the only way to that. Maybe the queen was a cult leader and her words alone were enough to make people into puppets. “Is the queen eternal?” He asked to the prisoner. “Do you know where she came from?”
The question made him consider, even if for a brief moment, if she was not like him. If she did not come from another world. Or plane of existence, as the arcanists called it. If song and tale where to be trusted then it wasn’t impossible for something coming from the Feywild to be powerful enough to control a Shadovar.
The man's slack jawed, vapid look to Irmiel's first question "Who are you? As people?"....leaves the conversation in a sudden lull, before the man, his face squishing up in an effort to understand what she's asking, eventually says, "Me Dolf."
