Rum takes in the scene, seeing the toad creatures, these Bullywugs, running across the fallen trees. He spots that one was different, possibly a leader of some sort. He could also see that the something in the river ahead of the ship was moving closer, clearly alive.
“Whatever is in front of us, it’s alive and heading this way”, he shouts to Captain Saewulf.
He pounces towards the different looking Bullywug just as it starts to sing it’s strange croaking song. He starts to feel sick, but shrugs it off as he reaches the creature.
He swings his staff two-handed at it’s head, after which he releases the grip his right paw has on the staff and brings a back handed punch back towards it’s head again. Finally he attempts a jumping round house kick towards it’s chest. If either unarmed attack hits, flames briefly appear at the point of contact.

Rum's attack catches the singing Bullywug off guard. It stops croaking while the staff comes down on its head and then the punches and kicks land and tries to scramble for cover, all while getting its brainpan rattled.
A new Bullywug landed on the deck next to Rum, and it apparently took offense to the assault on its brethren. It shouted something unintelligible in Bullywug speak and then gnashed at Rum, trying to catch him with its mouth, but was unable to because of the monk's momentum. Ro turns to Corlin, concerned for the dwarf's safety, "If you aren't a fighter, get someplace safe!" Ro then reaches his hand into his component pouch and pulls out a red pepper. Holding the pepper in one hand, he then waves the other hand over it and begins to chant, "Of all the things that may bring death, nothing bites like an ice dragon's breath." The pepper's red skin changes to white. Ro takes a deep breath and exhales right before popping the entire pepper into his mouth. After chewing the pepper, Ro exhales again, this time a cold mist leaves his mouth. The elf-dwarf then runs to the nearest group of bullywugs and exhales a blast of cold energy at them.

Greko's steady aim allows him to fire an arrow directly into the forehead of the croaking Bullywug, which crumples and dies in the seconds leading up to Ro using Dragon Breath against two others. One dodges, and, seeing its compatriots falling, leaps overboard, but the other is caught in an icy blast so potent it freezes as it tries to move. The Bullywug falls to the deck and shatters into pieces.
All the Bullywugs remaining on deck begin to panic and jump overboard, the few survivors of the attack fleeing into the river.
Clean is still trying to come to his senses after the initial attack and doesn't look like he's doing well at all. Tialha, in the crows nest, is shouting and pointing across the bow of the Scorpion.
"Anyone hurt? Come to me if you are!" Yam calls. However, as she notices the approahing figure, she runs towards the ship's front, "Stay Back!"

The fire in his eye sockets dimmed somewhat as he watched the creatures flee. Tuto bounced about, a fanfare tune coming from his flute. "Oo! Oo! Oo!" The day is saved! His friends are safe. And yet, everyone still looked quite restless. He then noticed that many of the crew members were shouting about something ahead. Even more dangerous than what they just fought. With a flourish, Tuto pulls his blade from his coat, and points it to the front of the ship, waiting for the danger to reveal itself.
"Brace!" Captain Saewulf calls from his position at the helm as the oars continue their frantic rowing. The ship speeds forward in a head on trajectory with whatever is in the water, and then the ship lurches as the Scorpion collides with whatever is hidden below the surface. Everyone on the deck reeled with the sudden change in momentum as the ship slowed considerably. Two of the ballista operators were thrown down immediately, but four stayed up, and, following Captain Saewulf's orders, began trying to shoot down the barrel hanging over the river.
One of the bolt's hit, shattering the barrel and spilling liquid all over the surface of the water.

Lelith flew up the rest of the way up to the Crow's Nest, she hadn't spoken to the elf keeping watch for the ship but she had listened as she always did on what her companions were up to. She briefly nodded to the elf before drawing an arrow once again to shoot down more Bullywugs but it seems to be unnecessary as her companions did a fine job, she was proud of them and their fighting prowess. The Bullywugs fled away and she broke her focus on their kind.
Lelith was surprised by the sudden rocking of the ship even if she was not on it. She kept an eye on Tahlia, in case she fell. But she otherwise, now refocused on the large creature threatening the Scorpion, a prey to be hunted. "You are marked by death. Your final breath will be my prize."
Bonus Action: Casts Hunter's Mark on the enemy
She drew an arrow and release it at one of the tentacles holding onto the ship.
The front of the ship became obscured by something huge coming up over the edge and looking at the crew on the main deck. First there was an eye stalk with three yellow glowing eyes, followed by a frogs head the size of a dinner table. The bulk of the thing's body began to slide up over the edge of the bow as it coiled tentacles and reached for purchase, doing its best to put the bulk of its body on the front of the ship. The bow dipped ever so slightly in the water under its weight. An arrow streaked down from the crow's nest and stuck in one of its tentacles near the shoulder. The assailed limb coiled slightly but didn't retreat.
One of the tentacles whipped out, snagging one of the sailors working behind the trebuchet. The man screams as he is crushed to death.
The next one snapped toward Yam but glanced off her armor as the thing slipped in its attempt to come over the railing of the ship. It roared, a hideous, gaseous croaking sound that reverberated through the ship and the bones of everyone on the main deck.
Its mouth, still open from its roar, tilts toward the Gnome wielding his sword...and its tongue snapped forward, grabbing for Tuto and pulling him face to face with the thing before it's body lunged forward, grabbing Tuto and swallowing him whole.

Ro staggers a bit as the unknown assailant rocks the Scorpion with its tentacles, but he manages to catch himself on the rail. The elf-dwarf throws his hands in front of himself to brace for an oncoming tentacle, but it sails over him and crushes a man stationed at the ship's trebuchet. The chaos doesn't stop, as Ro spins around to see Tuto being swallowed whole by some terrible beast. Ro's hearing sharpens as he listens to the chaos around him: crewmates frantically yelling directions to each other, the Scorpion creaking and snapping as tentacles wrapped themselves to its bow, and waves crashing against the ship's side. It overwhelmed him and instinctively Ro begins to chant a spell, "He's been crushed, my friend's been ate; oh magic please, change their fate!"
After the casting of the spell, the noises that previously berated Ro instantly silences. He looks around to see everything frozen in place, as if time itself had stopped. Then, very slowly, everything began to move, but in reverse: a large tentacle lifts away from a once dead body, Tuto is seemingly pulled out of the unidentified beast's mouth, and numerous tentacles release their grasp of the ship and slink back into the water. Time was rewinding, allowing for a new fate to take place. Ro feels hopeful for a brief moment, but it was short lived. His magic didn't guarantee a better fate, it only provided the opportunity. And this time, fate was not kind.
After living in reverse-time for a few seconds, Ro observed as normal time resumed. Tentacles lurched out at the ship, a singular tentacle crushed the same person manning the trebuchet, and Ro watched in horror as his friend, Tuto, found himself in the mouth of the beast once again.
Reaction: Ro casts Silvery Barbs, effectively giving disadvantage to the tentacle that crushed the man and advantage to Tuto's saving throw.
(Under DM's direction, I rolled for the tentacle and Tuto's new rolls and they didn't make a difference. Sigh, my first nat 20 and it ends up just killing the trebuchet man again lol)
Rum feels the jolt of the Scorpion but manages to roll with the motion, maintaining his balance. He starts moving, but too late to stop the hulking creature from lurching forward and devouring Tuto.
“Noooo!”, he growls as he lopes towards the beast, planting his staff in the ground and using it as leverage to vault high towards the beast eyes which he hopes might be a vulnerable point. Still, hurt and having trouble seeing, it zeroed in on the Tabaxi that'd done more to upset it than any of the other food that was making its life hard. Action: Ranged Longbow Attack To Hit : 8 + 8 + 4 [Bless] = 20, Damage: 2 + 4 [Piercing] + 1 [Dreadful Strikes] + 2 [Hunter's Mark] = 9
The arrow jammed into the eyestalk of the monster, burying deep. It screamed again, part in rage, part in pain. It was an unpleasant sound.
Still, hurt and having trouble seeing, it zeroed in on the Tabaxi that'd done more to upset it than any of the other food that was making its life hard. It thrust one tentacle forward to grab him but instead pricked itself on something sharp and recoiled the tentacle. It screamed at Rum one last time and then dropped into the water.
