Sullen, sunken, feeling her own light threatening to fade, it was allowing the shadows to creep in. Thea was looking far away when Judal would actually acknowledge her. Violet hues look up. She saw his lips move, however her ears didn’t really register his words in time to respond. Instead, all she could do was put on her best smile for him as a mug of ale finds its way into her hands. She’d look down at it. Thea knew she didn’t want it. But it was the what ifs and the darkness in the alcohol calling her to lose herself, to fade away. She didn’t want it. Yet it still tempted her. Eventually, she puts the mug down. She was already a feeling a little numb.
What Thea wanted to do was to trust the process. She closes her eyes and breathes. She listens. When she opens her eyes, Princess Zelda is reaching for her once more. Her feet know what to do before she does. They take her to the Princess’, and Violet’s side, kneeling with them. Thea takes the only hands that have lent themselves to her in what feels like her lifetime. She clings maybe a little harder than she should.
Ears twitch at the unheard whispers, bat noises and horn blown at their backs. It caused Thea’s mind to bounce and race. Eyes look up to her alicorn and she takes a deep breath, then closes them again in effort to concentrate. She didn’t know… She wasn’t sure… How could she… Then, in her mind, she hears the melody.
Thea begins to hum, and eventually, start to sing quietly, mostly to, and for herself. Using that as her anchor and her alicorn as a conduit, she channels her magic imagining it shared amongst the others.
“When the last eagle flies Over the last crumbling mountain And the last lion roars At the last dusty fountain In the shadow of the forest Though she may be old and worn They will stare unbelieving At the Last Unicorn
When the first breath of winter Throught the flowers is icing And you look to the north And a pale moon is rising And it seems like all is dying And would leave the world to mourn In the distance hear her laughter Of the Last Unicorn
I'm alive, I'm alive
When the last moon is cast Over the last star of morning And the future has passed Without even a last desparate warning Then look into the sky where through Through the clouds a path is torn…”
Thea’s voice fades, leaving those last words sang out loud for Violet to imagine their path. As for the actual last words, they play in her mind while her skin does sparkle in magic.
Look and see her how she sparkles It's the Last Unicorn
Watching Curiously as the three joined hands, Her focus shifting from the conversation with The Remnants and Judal to this particular display. Having regressed back to the kind've person she was during her early days with the answer, In a time where she had barely spoken or shown any emotion. Primarily due to the strange sense that no matter what she did, she would never form a lasting bond with anyone. Miquella, her brother had instilled this belief into her when he had vanished all those years ago.
Not interrupting as the Trio consisting of Thea, A companion she had known for some time but never shared a bond with. Princess Zelda, who she was sworn too and the newcomer known as Violet who was something called a Beholderkin? She still had no clue as to what exactly a Beholder was, simply thinking the lass looked a little peculiar but no stranger than the Cat and Lizard.
The mechanism within her prosthetic began to whir, not knowing exactly what was happening but with the mention of a door. She wanted to be ready to protect her Charge at a moments notice, Catching the Reins of Kazu to keep the Princess's mount close by. ".....This is the Way." Muttering under her breath. No sense of fear or hesitation, her only concern was the Safety of the Princess.
Rum spots the two Star Lancers circling not too far above as Thea starts to sing, leaving him enthralled by whatever ritual is happening. He looks across to Greko as his friends starts to make bat noises and puts a finger to his lips for silence, and passes him the horn of silent alarm.
"There are another couple of uses today, just blow and think of Baturday", he whispers.
Once Greko does this, he holds his paw out for Greko to pass it back to him.
He then turns to Judal, and whispers while motioning to the Star Lancers, "They are friendly to us and quite intelligent. They speak Celestial if you know it".
Little green greko blows the horn, but there are no sheep in the meadow or cows in the corn. The only thing flying is his bat, coming to hang out thanks to the kung fu cat.
"I know Infernal," Judal replies to Rum and gives him a bit of an "aww, shucks" shrug. Judal does study the Star Lancers rather closely though... "A shame they're not beasts."
Rum doesn’t tear his eyes off the ritual, but responds to Judal, “What difference does it make if they are beasts or not? They are allies, surely that’s enough”.
Judal chuckles slightly. "Allies is plenty. I mean no disrespect, it's just that I can, on occasion, become a beast I have seen. These Star Lancers? If beasts they would have ben ones to keep in mind as I can see how becoming one could be useful at times."
"I was not aware you were a druid like Friend Greko. Perhaps when this ritual is done, we should at least get to know more about each other's capabilities", Rum replies.
Baturday, and the two Starlancers descend to the deck of the Scorpion after the blasts from the horn. The discussion, and the arrival of the mounts, is quickly interrupted by a crackling of energy from between Zelda, Thea, and Violet.
Any eye that turns towards the three girls kneeling in the middle of the deck would see the slow crawl of electrical energy from somewhere...else. Somewhere beyond what the eye can see. Wind ripples up from the deck of the ship, whipping through their hair. A howl fills the ears of those nearby as something far off in the ether makes its presence known.
A dull teal light can be seen glowing, ever so gently, between the three women, though there is no immediate source. With the exception of the lightning, and the effects of the wind, and of course the unexplained glow, there is nothing visible happening.
Rum watches the crackling energy build as the wind whips his fur. His tail swishes from side to side as he stands on hearing the howl, but his keen feline eyes see no source,
He reflexively focusses all his senses as the teal light appears between his three companions.
Seeing the Star Lancers in his peripheral vision, he decides it best to move closer to them and lay a comforting paw on each of their necks, to make sure they do not panic. He does not, however, take his eyes off Violet, Thea and the Princess.
"You forgot to hook up the doll!" Judal inexplicably calls out as the wind, the lightning and the otherworldly energies all whip about...
Throughout all this he, of course has his Eldritch Sight up and is trying to make sense of what is happening and perhaps where it is coming from. In truth all he really learns is the school of magic which isn't entirely helpful but still... "Is this you guys?" Judal asks with his Beast Speech to this Baturday and the Starlancers, unsure if they speak Beast or not but strangers things have been known to happen. Such as what is happening right now. Otherwise Judal just takes a defensive stance and tries to stay ready for anything...
Greko stands by Baturday petting and feeding him. He clsoes his eyes expecting to be whisked away to some far end part of the realm but when he opens his eyes he realizes he is still exactly where he was when he closed them "Eh Greko thinks it didn't work but you managed to change the weather"
Lady Kaede is still standing there, quietly transfixed at the awesome display of magic. She’s a lowly down-in-the-trenches fighter (or, rather, a commander of lowly down-in-the-trenches fighters, because that’s what nobles do…), and really has no experience with magic in any way/shape/form. However, the dull teal light puts her a little on edge, so she instinctively pops her katana out of the saya (scabbard) an inch, ready to fully withdraw and attack anything that pops out of the rift in space-time.
The breeze continues to whip Thea, Zelda, and Violet's hair as the Beholderkin slowly stands. She holds her hands out for a moment, motioning for everyone to follow her lead...and then she takes a step. This is no ordinary step, though. Violet's fun suddenly descends through the boards of the Scorpion's deck...and then the teal glow intensifies as she rotates 90 degrees, from standing vertically to standing horizontally as she passes through the floor and into a whole other world. As she begins to float, as is the way for her kind, she reaches a hand out, above the boards the deck, and takes Zelda's hand.
The Princess nods to the rest of the group as she follows Violet through the portal...and then into another world.
As the ladies step through the portal and the teal glow intensifies, anyone looking behind them will see them step into a completely alien world. It looks like the Labyrinth...except huge. Massive beyond comprehension. A city built vertically and horizontally reaching an apex of walkways at the top, above which hovers a spinning diamond that radiates four cardinal points of anti-light as it twirls and twirls.
"This is Leviathan." Violet says, trying to explain where they're entering as they step out onto one of the massive overhead walkways. "My old home."
Rum watches Violet and then the Princess move through the strange horizontal doorway to another place, an alien place.
"It seems no sooner have we arrived on board, than we are leaving", he says looking around at those on the deck of the Scorpion, particularly seeking Captain Seawulf. When he sees Seawulf, he touches his earring and whispers so only he can hear, "Good fortune to you Captain. I don't know where you planned to sail, but the last we heard Eternia was still a safe port".
With that said, he quickly gathers his things and mounts Porkins.
"I guess we follow them, assuming you will continue our journey together, noble Porkins?", he says in Celestial.
Assuming Porkins agrees, they fly up a little above the ship and then turn to fly directly back down, right into the teal glow. Once across they stay close to Violet and circle.
"From what you have told us, I assume we should be very wary here, Remnant Violet?", he says to Violet as he focusses his senses and scans their surroundings.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lady Kaede, still standing there mouth agape at this awesome display of magic, finally snaps out of it. She walks up to the portal and peers down, warily misunderstanding what just happened here, but glad to see her fellow warrior ladies made it through safely. Upon seeing all three safe and sound on the other side, she quickly turns, wordlessly runs to the bow of the ship, mounts her new friend Balthor, and follows Rum through the portal on the back of the flying shark.
Likewise, upon swooping through the portal into the new world, she looks around for any pending danger.
Violet nods when Rum says that they will need to be wary here.
"Yes... there are horrors here beyond anything you can imagine..." the beholderkin says. "Whatever you do, don't let your guard down." Her voice is less timid than usual... more determined. She knows this hellish place, and she knows that she needs to be strong for her friends.
