People continue to file out of the affected area while the Dawn Guard sorts through their stuff. The mostly naked man walks across the clearing where the bones are and uses his fur boots to sort through the person ashes, kicking smoldering bones aside and scattering the mess before picking up the Greataxe and casually tossing it from hand to hand and muttering about it being hot.
When Shavaris whispers to him, the big man looks around, looks at the junk guy, and grins.
"That should be fun."
He casually walks around Travin as Shavaris begins to put on her performance for Travin, and then he grabs the little Junkfellow and begins hauling him down the street...
"Sorry buddy. The lady says you need help. So we're going there."
Shavaris rolls a 18 on Performance to distract Travin
Boulder Chilled Stephen Austin rolls 29 on his contested Athletics check to Grapple Travin and drag him back to get help
As Shavaris rounds on Travin, presenting the flask and asking about it, his eyes widen, "Shavaris should probably not have such things, hmmm that is Travin's special blood yeh! it is special be sure it will give y- ahhhhh!"
Travin is cut short as the new guy on the scene scoops him up off of his feet and holds him tightly, taking him off to wherever, Travin struggles a little screaming "YOU'LL NEVER TAKES TRAVIN ALIVE!!!" As Travin is very much taken... Alive.
After some rigorous wriggling and struggling Travin resigns himself to his fate and begins squeezing the guys muscles, murmuring "where did you come from hmmm? What is your name? How did you gets this strong? Travin has just been shopping yeh yeh, Travin is new to town hmm! well Travin is new to this world propers, really heh heh" his ramblings continue but diminish in volume as he is walked away from the scene, follows as always by the lumbering giant firey Birth Wrenils.
The big guy continues to carry Travin away, led by Shavaris, back to the healer where they'd dropped Kerwyn off before.
"I was born in Cimmeria. They call me Stephen. Stephen Austin. In the old country, they called me Boulder Chilled. This was my battle name, because once I had bludgeoned all of my enemies to death, I would get knee walking drunk. It was bliss. I got strong because I was blessed by Crom, who then gave me my belt, which makes me stronger. What did you buy while you were shopping? What do you mean you're new to this world?"
The big man drops Travin on the steps of the healers house...then reaches down to help him up.
Accepting the help and thinking nothing of being abruptly dropped, Travin responds "Travin was from another worldses yeh yeh! then spent lifetime in, like a prison! Hmmm tricksy prison for junkpeoples, so now Travin is a junk people's and other people keep calling Travin a weirdo, yeh! Travin will find Stephen bolder chilled once he has spokens to some clericses! Yeh yeh Travin would like to know about cinnamonia!" With that the junkman cracks his knuckles and walks into the healers den yelling something foul in infernal.
The tiny fairy was being chased by some woman calling them names and such. Delph didn't seem particular perturbed by them. They were heading back to the group when the sudden explosion rocks the town. Buildings on fire old ladies be pulled from burning houses and screaming all around. The tiny fairy wasn't expecting an attack so soon but having powerful items does tend to bring powerful people after them. Delphinium makes sure the alicorn is secure and won't fall off when fighting and flies back tot eh group at top speed. They are definitely far more fast then they were before as trails of lightning seem to follow in their wake at these speeds. It almost seems like a bolt of ball lightning flashing in the town. Likely startling a few of the people Delph flew particularly close to.
When they find the group (Which was easy enough to do being able to fly up and spot them) they flutter right up to them. Johnathan gives quick instructions to Delph to use an item to put out the fires. Delph takes the odd flask and immediately does as asked "Right! I'm on it. Putting fire out." The fairy salutes then flies off and over the buildings using the magic items to make as much water as possible to start dousing the fire. The pressure of the water catches the fairy by surprise sending them careening all hilter kilter in the air as they end up spraying water everywhere at first definitely getting the entire town wet in the process. After a bit of a struggle the fairy ends up summoning their astral form to hold the item in place and enhance their senses as well as voice. The fairy sees the people bringing buckets to help put out the water and now they are quite soaked. At least now the fairy is aiming the water correctly and begins to put the fires out.
The fairy keeps an eye out for anyone that might trapped by the fire, pinned in debris, or generally seems they need help. The fairy is also on the lookout for the arsonist as they have no clue that Brit and Travin were at the heart of all this carnage having flown off so quick to make a trade. They will amplify their voice to shout to the people below telling them where they can see people trapped and focus on pouring water around those folks so the fires don't get to them. This likely keeps Delphinium busy for a bit so they don't really get into the conversation of using the alicorn. Once the fire is out and folks are saved the fairy will flutter back to the group after waving to the townsfolk they just helped to save.
As they get to the healer's den, Shavaris feels a little relief as they made it without any further issue. But as the big man mentions he is from Cimmeria she freezes and stares at the man. "I... I'm sorry, where did you say you're from?" she manages to stammer out as she stares at him.
Johnathan doesn’t pay much attention as Travin gets taken away. He was too pissed off to even try and say something to him at the moment. Johnathan just watches as Shavaris’s tries to talk down Ward and feels Delphinium soak everything with the jug. Johnathan looks to Shavaris. I think you are right Shavaris, I’m not willing to mess with these powers for a random man Travin attacked. Even though it was uncalled for sometimes we should let the dead remain so, the consequences for messing with this balance is a lot to adjust to, trust me. It’s apparent that Johnathan is referring to his own predicament and how it’s not something he wishes for anyone. He doesn’t follow Shavaris and Travin to the medic, instead he waits for Delphinium to return. When Delphinium returns Johnathan holds out his hand with a very tired look in his eyes. Thank you Delphinium. You did great, may I have my jug back please? Johnathan doesn’t expect Delphinium to want to hold onto the jug so he isn’t being strict or firm when he asks, more like a man that has just had a long day and wants to just get some rest.
Delphinium and Johnathan's efforts put out the fire's with help from the fire brigade, who all seem very happy that the Dawn Guard stepped in to stop the spread of the flames that were caused by who knows what calamity.
Stephen looks down at Shavaris and listens to the question.
"Cimmeria. In frozen Hyperborea. It's my home place."
There is the sound of screaming inside. First, Travin shouting something. Then Rafinki screaming for help. Birt is outside the door, his head jerking around so fast that the tongue hanging out of his mouth does a whimsical flop in the seconds after. Then Birt reaches out and pulls the door off the building and tosses it into the street...
As Stephen's answer sinks in, she isn't sure how to respond. The thoughts racing through her mind take her breath away. But she is quickly brought to the present when she hears the healer screaming from inside.
She bolts for the door, yelling for Stephen to follow her over her shoulder as the crosses the threshold and sees Travin with his stuff and Rafinki on the ground, screaming in pain. As she tries to take in the scene, she yells at Travin, "what the hell is going on? Travin, what did you do? And you're not leaving." and she rushes over to Rafinki to assist how she can.
Travin picks his bag up out of a chest in the corner of the room an looks pissed, "Travin is not staying! This monkey is poisoning Travin! Yeh! Check Rafinki's dust pouch! Shavaris was supposed to be Travin's friend!" He makes dash for the hole where the door used to be clearly very agitated and upset.
Shavaris sees that Rafinki has been hit, but he's alright and she quickly makes an about face and runs to intercept Travin at the door. "Wait, please." She holds her hands up palms facing Travin in a surrender type of gesture. "This is my fault. I should have come in here with you, should have known this was all new and frightening. I am your friend, Travin. But I failed you in that part, and I am sorry. Please stay so we can discuss this together." She doesn't take her eyes off Travin and continues, "I will check Rafinki's dust pouch. I will verify its contents and if you want someone else from the Dawn Guard to check as well, we'll get them in here too." She looks at him pleadingly, feeling bad she has put him in this situation.
Travin stops in front of Shavaris, close enough that his head is a mere centimeter away from her raised hands, he looks up to her, hurt, "Travin doesn't need helps from this place, from these people's, hmmm, Travin is not sick, yeh! Travin just wants to be ac..." He trails off with a pain in his voice as he cannot bring himself to finish his own sentence he looks down, taking his eyes away from Shavaris's "Don't makes Travin go." This time he doesn't run, he walks calmly, shuffling forward, directly into shavaris, wanting her to move, to let him out, but not meeting her gaze or asking.
Shavaris's voice gets caught in her throat as she hears the pain in his. She looks up to Rafinki hoping to get some assistance from him as she has no idea how to deal with his or how sick her friend actually is.
As he starts pushing into her, "Wait, wait Travin," holding her ground, but not pushing back, "Please, can we just talk? What were you about to say? Travin just want to be ac? I am just trying to help, and maybe its just talking through what you can and can't do outside the labyrinth. Travin, because of you two people are dead and buildings are on fire. And you're stealing. I mean, sometimes that makes sense, but from your friends? These are not normal actions and I just am trying to help, can I?"
The monkey-person stands from his position the floor and adjusts the huge glasses that are on his head. He stoops down, and picks up a frog, and then an Owlbear feather.
"Rafinki can still help Travin, hm? Hm! But Travin mustbehave. If Travin gives Rafinki anymore trouble, yes, Rafinki will have to use magic and rituals to calm him down. Rafinki doesn't want to do that. Rafinki only wants what is good for Travin, hm. He doesn't, and will not, therefore, hurt Travin. Rafinki promises."
he stops and slumps to the ground at her feet, "before the Smith killed and dieds, before Shavaris knew about the stealing... Shavaris still wanted Travin to change, why? Hmmm? The dawn guard doesn't understands because the dawn guard doesn't listens... Travin hasn't known anythings other than the junkfields for over 200 yearses, no one there can die, there are no shopses no friendses, Yeh... Does that make travin bad, wrongs, sick? Travin doesn't need poisons dust, Travin needs friends and guidance..." he draws himself into his shell once more.
Shavaris sits on the ground next to him contemplating his words. She always did try to listen, but sometimes with the way things were in the band and the mission they were on... it wasn't easy. She lets his words sink in.
"You are not bad. You are my friend. I can't imagine everything you've been through. And losing your brother after you finally found him? That.." she starts crying and can't stop herself. "That I know had to have broken something inside. That is why we're here. When I lost my sister, I was broken. For a very long time I was broken. I didn't want more pain and suffering for you, so when I heard this place was available to possibly help? I was hoping you wouldn't go through the same pain I did when I lost her." She bows her head, overcome with grief.
As the last fires get doused in water by Delph's new jug the fairy looks around at those gathered helping out and waves. They beam with a bright blue glow at helping them and getting the appraise for the help. The tiny fairy then flutters down to Johnathan and Ward. When Johnathan asks for the Jug back the fairy looks curiously at them. "Your jug? You just gave it to me for putting out the fires though." They seem genuinely confused. "If you really want it back then... hmmm... how are you at making tea? I just got something I was told would help Kerwyn feel better. If you make some tea with it for him I'll give it back. Oh, that reminds me, at some point I need 5 of the gold coins we have. I mean, I can come back later but seems polite to do now if I already have it."
The fairy looks around and takes in the scene. They seem to be looking for some kind of culprit. Not seeing a fire wielding explodo-demon they look back to Ward and Johnathan and ask "Did you see who set fire to the nice buildings? Oh! I'll go ask around! You two ask too." They fly off to ask various people gathered nearby "Hello! I'm fi... Delph. Did you see who set the buildings on fire?"
"sometimes we needs the pain Shavaris, hmmm? it reminds us that we are alive" his tiny voice echoes out of the junk pile. It becomes painfully obvious how against this help he really is, not just through the superficial childish outbursts, but also down to his core, as if he wants to make up for things he cannot yet let go of, no matter how much help he might receive just now.
