After a long and eventful night and a much calmer beginning to a new day, the crew of the Maelstrom has started their day on the open seas. Some looking for more adventure, while others look to quell the ruckus going on in their heads from the previous night's celebrations. No matter the case, shortly any plans are drowned out by the ringing of a bell. And any of the crew who's been on the Maelstrom long enough knew what the bell meant and quickly and carefully all those aboard the ship scuffled toward the main deck.
And here as to be expected, the crew are greeted by the familiar towering presence of their minotaur brethren ringing the large bell in front of the captains quarters. With the unusually large door swinging open the moment the final ring runs throughout the ship.
The door creaks hauntingly, as soon the crew takes view of their Captain. With his large spheroid body casting a great shadow over the main deck while levitating towards everyone, as purplish blue tendril-like eyes seem to dart all around as his largest eyes center on the crew. Bulging with excitement. "Such a fine crew I have today, bursting with all the pleasures of last nights victory!" he says as he licks his lips while smiling to reveal a vast array of sharp jagged teeth. "But sometimes fun and games can be too much. Can distract from what is important"and soon the crew notices someone lagging behind amidst their Captains words. Someone who drank far too much, sleeping in through most of the bell ringing and now only getting to the main deck. "No, some are too weak for the mighty bounty of the seas!"and quickly one of the tendril-like eyes sharply point in the direction of the latecomer as a coiling mass of inky black shadow shoots from it toward the man. Wrapping around him as if squeezing the life out of him, his eyes becoming hollow and his body becomes frailer by the moment. Until the very skin of it begins to slough off as he collapses dead to the floor.
Some shutter, some gasp quietly and others acts as though this is perfectly normal. "But weak doesn't get us to our destination. No, strength does. To persevere through rumors and legends. To not let the crash of the waves and creatures of the depths dissuade us. No we all who succeed in this are destined for greatness!"he continues as the lifeless corpse is shortly picked through and thrown overboard into the Shining Sea.

Salty Joe makes the sign of Tempus upon his brow at seeing a fellow crew mate thrown to sea. A few of the crew do the same for their gods. You hate to see that happen, he thinks, but its still such a waste. Yeah Scotty was a **** up but he could HOLD the line. This floating ******* doesn't get that. He's only half right. It takes Strength and the Trust of the crew to get to the other side. Everybody knows that Beholders only care for themselves. THAT is its weakness. One day, I will take this ship from you. I don't know how but I'll do it.
Salty just smiles and listens wiping the flour from the mornings biscuits on his apron.

Tanne, wide eyed, watches on from the rear of the crowd. Perception: 10
Tanne's heard tales of the Beholders, supposedly one lives in the tunnels below Waterdeep, but he never imagined he'd see one himself. It starts to sink in, deep in the pit of his stomach, that maybe running away and joining a crew of pirates wasn't such a good idea.

Distracted by what just happen with the now dead man, most of you notice very little. But for Tea and Zradhall, you notice a human male dozing off amidst everyone. But Zradhall with his keen draconic eyes notices much more, as he sees a human woman in red approach the dozing man as a smile appears on her face.
"Captain, it appears we have yet another weakling today," she says with a bit of pleasure in her voice as she grabs his head with her left hand lifting him up off his feet and carrying him forward through the crowd. While the man who is now wide awake, struggles to get free from her grasp but fails. And as the Captain now looks at her, "Ah, Lady Sinestra! Always with such a good nose. I must have gotten distracted by the other one..." he says in a jovial fashion, "Of course Captain, such fine work with that one. One could easily become enthralled with such artistry" she says with a smile towards the Captain. "But no matter, I shall deal with this worm wiggling about with such cowardice" as she pulls out a sword off her hip with her right arm and plunges it into his back letting his blood run down her arm as what life from him leaves with a whimper. Casually tossing him into the sea with a flick of her left wrist.
"Fine work, Lady Sinestra. Or should I say, CaptainSinestra. For today we expand our reach in this world. No longer will we be restricted to one ship, no now we have two. And with it the beginnings of a mighty fleet to crush the Shining Sea beneath our boots!"And with that, some of the crowd begins to cheer and as Lady Sinestra looks back at them, those not cheering soon follow suit.
She then looks back at the Captain, "Aye then that would make you an Admiral now, surely a position much more befitting your glory..."saying with a brief bow to her new Admiral.
Anglos politely makes noise (on the surface, the best way to do so is a clap), as is custom in Mariana when one receives a promotion. The deaths don’t particularly make much impact. The deep sea is a terrifying place that one must learn the rules of quickly.

Gimmur grits his teeth and claps without enthusiasm, remembering his clan's training. The discipline that made free dwarves reliable in battle did not come from harsh or tyrannical treatment. On the contrary, such treatment was far more likely to destroy than to make a fighting unit. The leader who feels the respect which is due to others, cannot fail to inspire in them respect for themselves, while the one who feels, and hence manifests disrespect towards others, especially their subordinates, cannot fail to inspire hatred against themselves.
Loyalty, though... That is what he owes his crew and his officers. Loyalty.
