Tests and Trials Game Thread

Kroshav talks to the bugbear to try to get a sense of how much progress they've made. "How much bigger to fill your whole tribe?"

((Assuming he got the loan of Joe's belt.))

He'll try to serve as the translator back and forth between the bugbear and Mikram to get a gauge of how much more will be needed, and what that will translate into in terms of work. 

His muscles are pleasantly tired, and he's feeling pretty good after blasting a small cairn out of each nostril.

The bugbear carefully assesses the size of the tomb before saying,

"Bigger."

And explaining with her hands a space before expanding it to maybe double. It really doesn't seem to be a precise measurement.

Mikram is duly unimpressed by that description for increase. He is impressed by the amount of work Kroshav managed in a day,

"Well, at the rate you're working another couple of days should be more than enough. Depending on how much this is."

He imitates the bugbear's sizing.

"Yeah. Maybe if she can get some of them here to help with hauling and stacking the work'd go faster and we'd get a sense of how many there are?"

Mikram shrugs.

"Okay, whatever ye think is best. She say how far off they are?"

"Probably this far?", Kroshav says with his hands and a grin.

Mikram almost smiles as he replies,

"Aye. Aye suppose that'd be about right."

Presuming you ask the bugbear to get her tribe, she'll agree but will warn,

"Here too small still. Can find tribe and can find way back here. Uh...where is here? Take longer when not see where here is...?

She looks outside at the light snow fall and asks, loudly,

"Want go now?"

"What do we think? Head back to the Library for the night, send our friend here to find her tribe tomorrow, maybe some of us go with her, and the rest keep working here? She brings some or all of her tribe back here, they can help pitch in moving rock and hopefully we get it big enough to shelter everyone? Might be a bit tight, but it'll get bigger everyday!", Kroshav asks enthusiastically.

"If one of us goes with them to act as a guide, they'd best be someone who can stay hidden well.  It's all pointless if we're tracked."

"True. I suppose I'd rather none of us running around separated, Gethren is still out there... She'd probably be fine getting back here on her own, right?"

She nods confidently.

"Thir good finder and hider."

It takes a moment to realize that her name must be Thir. She doesn't seem to mind not knowing your names though.

"Go now?"

(( Throughout all this Cladmir would be moving and piling rock, confident that with the number they have and the location Kroshav is well protected.  But if the Paladin decides to move out then Cladmir would drop everything he's doing to be by his side. ))

Ernos scratches his chin, "It's late.  We could have a meal first, so that you can bring some to your tribe."

((So back to the archives for a delicious looking dinner?))

Kroshav sighs at the thought of another Librarian meal. "Maybe Joe's given some tips on flavor?", he says optimistically.

The party trudges back through the snow, which has managed to remove their trail so it is just as arduous a trip to the Archives as it was to the tomb/to be village. The snow is still falling, though has markedly tapered off.

The party arrive back and find things unchanged above ground. Heading below they find the normal pile of food replaced with a large bowl cauldron filled with 'soup' warming or being kept warm over a small fire. Joe greets you and waves a the cauldron and explains,

"'ello mateys! The Librarian be making a soup based on something I be liking. The taste be changeable what it should be an' since it be a cream soup, the texture won't be being a problem. Don't be eatin' the bread."

Joe casts an eye to four large, golden and glistening loaves placed on the edge of the darkness. One of the loaves has had a slice cut and its perfectly baked insides look to be slowly collapsing out. Those who try the soup find it to be a very thick, on the verge of congealed, but the flavor is dead on for leek and potato soup. All and all, probably the best thing the party has eaten in weeks. Any who try the bread find the crust to be similar to sand paper and core to be more akin to gelatin than one would hope.

Thir eats a loaf herself, gagging only occasionally, and snags the rest when she sees no one else is interested. After her fourth bowl of soup she stands and says,

"Thir go. Who come?"

((Who, if anyone, did you decide was going with Thir?

@Cladmir, I forgot to reply to your work outside the tomb. A defensible wall outside the tomb that blends surprisingly well into the mountain side is coming along nicely.))

((Kroshav is not suited to the stealth needed to follow along with Thir.))

((I think Row was opted in but hasn't replied yet? She's okay trying it alone, but I don't want to rush Row either.))

Thir looks around, sees no takers for coming with her says,

"Three days be back or I dead."

She says cheerily before heading up to the surface with a golem escort.

((The rest just crashing for the night and heading back to work on the tomb unless something happens?
