Charlie is the sweetest, most loving horse that Kroshav has ever met, he has plenty of fine qualities besides intelligence, just like his master.
<Now's not the time for it, she wants the gryphons dead... I kinda want them dead too, or at least not a problem anymore. We'll get a better chance, I don't want to be eated either.>

Cladmir, watching Kroshav too closely doesn't notice Beryl's reaction to what Kroshav says but Jaq does. Especially when Kroshav says ...don't think they'll be out while you're around."
Jaq notices her stiffen and her tail stutter in its back and forth swinging.
Both Jaq and Cladmir remember from their respective studies that griffons aren’t generally night flyers and do most of their hunting during the day. More than anything, and maybe more for Jaq than Cladmir, is the recollection that griffons are extremely territorial. Beryl is bigger than a single griffon but they doubt, based on what they’ve read, that would stop a pride of griffons from reacting (poorly) to her should she stray into their hunting grounds. Grounds that, likely, include all of the washout that is the Cut and some distance into the surrounding forests and mountains.
Putting this all together, along with her reaction for Jaq, both Jaq and Cladmir understand that Beryl thinks the griffons are more than a nuisance. Plus, given than she is avoiding them by only flying at night, she likely considers them a significant threat that prevents her from flying during the daytime.
"If we do this task you ask, which will not be easy, are we friends then? What happens exactly?"
Jaq isn't really certain how to ask this question, knowing she really likes being talked to as a superior, but he needs to know her intentions, so he asks with a smile and hopes for the best.
“We are pretty injured from the earlier fight. We need to heal up overnight before having a chance with this next fight. Unless you have healing for us? We’ll take care of this tomorrow and time it better so we are there when they aren’t flying. Ok??”
"This is a time limited offer, but I am willing to give you a day or two. They aren't flying now, it is up to you if you want to risk climbing during the day tomorrow when they are flying. If the catch you, do try to at least wound one before you die."
There is a pause to let that sink in before she says,
"Either way, you can't stay here. This is a private meeting."
She doesn't turn but she is clearly dismissing you.
"We were going to sleep here, get out strength back, and then we will head up the mountain tomorrow evening, so they won't be flying again.
Mind if we head inside and sleep and ignore your meeting?" Although he isn't really feeling it, he smiles and uses his best tone while giving this information.
(The golem is right here standing quietly where they had the meeting, correct?)
Ernos grunts, "Shot one of the blighted creatures out of the sky already, we can handle more. Worth it to be on a dragon's good side." Glancing at Jaq with the question of sleep, the tiefling nods, "Warmth is good, and this is close."

"It is entirely possible. Magic can achieve many things, and dragons are powerful beings in magic. I know of - though cannot cast - a spell which allows vision and hearing from a chosen position within a large distance, but I know not whether a dragon could create such magic with a moving point of focus."

"Ok, so she probably cannot hear us now? That is good, but the off chance still bothers me a bit." Jaq shivers a bit, not from cold but from the fact that they just walked away and made some sort of a deal with this nasty beast.
"What are the options? Where do we sleep tonight? Do we dare go to, Ummm, the books to sleep? If we are being watched we probably don't want to go there and give it's location up."

When Beryl describes where the griffon's nest is, he looks towards the mountain and the area she describes. He then looks back at her and nods.

((So, you all going to start climbing?))
(What time is it now?)
"If we do this task you ask, which will not be easy, are we friends then? What happens exactly?"
Jaq isn't really certain how to ask this question, knowing she really likes being talked to as a superior, but he needs to know her intentions, so he asks with a smile and hopes for the best.
((Middle of the night, maybe an hour after midnight. Jaq (and Thir) has been going from well before dawn, he is feeling pretty beat.))
Beryl snorts a green tinged cloud in apparent amusement.
"Friends? No, no elf. Elevated subjects, and you are permitted to become my subjects. Something not granted to all, only the select."
Her gaze settles on the three in tomb mouth as she says the last.
((Bump! What you doing?))
“We are pretty injured from the earlier fight. We need to heal up overnight before having a chance with this next fight. Unless you have healing for us? We’ll take care of this tomorrow and time it better so we are there when they aren’t flying. Ok??”
Beryl is silent a few ticks and then says,
"This is a time limited offer, but I am willing to give you a day or two. They aren't flying now, it is up to you if you want to risk climbing during the day tomorrow when they are flying. If the catch you, do try to at least wound one before you die."

((The golem is right there.))
The question causes Beryl to pause in her return to the entrance and twist her gaze from Jaq then to Thir.
"No one will be going in or coming out until everything has been...resolved to my satisfaction."
Her lips pull back in what is clearly a threat to Thir and then to the trio by the entrance.
"Go find your horse. Come back with the heads."
Her tone suggests, with no uncertainty, that she is telling you leave.
Since the party is in no condition to fight, Jaq just nods and begins walking away.
He keeps very quiet and keeps anyone else from discussing anything until they are VERY far away from the dragon.
Once very far away he looks at Ernos, "Is there any way she could use magic from this far away to listen to us, now?"

Cladmir couldn't help but shudder at the thought that the dragon may be listening to them right now.
((Ya, pretty much. It would also mean splitting her attention and she was busy, so there's that too.))
"Ok, so she probably cannot hear us now? That is good, but the off chance still bothers me a bit." Jaq shivers a bit, not from cold but from the fact that they just walked away and made some sort of a deal with this nasty beast.
