(( I'm ok if anyone would need to armor since it looks like it won't make much of a difference to my guy. Role-playing-wise when I thought up the character he's more of the type where he would prefer to shoot from a distant and then get stuck in when needed, but now that he feels he's indebted to the party -- and has a somewhat of a hero-worship attitude toward Kroshav in particular -- he's now going to stick closer to the Kroshav in combat, although as mentioned the new armor won't make much of a difference. He's also got hold of a shield so maybe the armor would be more useful to someone else at this point? ))
"I am happy with the armor I have, especially now that I also have a shield. But I would rather put it on than leaving it behind if no one else is going to wear it."
((Clad is surprisingly dexterous But also for Lurn it doesn't provide an AC bonus, just removes the stealth disadvantage and makes him immune to crits. I guess the question is whether the bow fighter or the caster cleric is going to take more- wait, what does Kroshav use? Chain? Would he rather the two extra AC on chain or the crit immunity? Not that anyone else would use chain, considering it's the same AC for Clad as studded leather.))

((Kroshav has 0 dex modifier so the breastplate would be a step down from his chainmail. He does have another breastplate he took off the drow that could go to someone else, so it really is just the crit protection. Give that Kroshav is willing to share the too tight armor!))
((The crit negation is nice, but feel like having a lower AC is going to allow more attacks to come through, so wouldn't be coming out ahead damage wise. I'll stick with what he came in with. I think I might have offered the tight breastplate when he changed, or he was just too relieved to bother.))

Kroshav is pretty sure he's seen an old map or something with a bunch of little countries where the Duchy is. Something like a before and after map showing how the elves improved stuff or something. It was a long time ago, he is pretty sure, since it was before the elves made everything better.
Cladmir, born and raised outside the Duchy, has seen maps pre-invasion that show nearly a dozen kingdoms on the south of the continent. They were a real mess apparently, some historian he'd been tasked with guarding had written a book or a thesis or some such and wouldn't shut up about them. Called them Squabbling Kinglets and Queenlets that only pulled together to attack each other when one or another got to much influence or power. Cladmir isn't sure on the exact dates but it ranged over something like three or four hundred years, ending when the elves showed up and rolled over them something about seven hundred years back. Way before his time and it's wierd he remembers all that but not that historian's name. Real pain in the backside.
Jaq education was a bit better than Kroshav's and definitely knows the names and has seen a few pre-conquest (and improvement) maps around. He can place them more them more than seven hundred years back but doesn't know much about them.

The Librarian looks vaguely upwards,
"It's winter?"
She is quiet a long time before asking,
"What do you know of -? The winters here should be lessened by the magics put in place, though perhaps they've faded. Or were destroyed when - was."

Everyone but Lurn thinks the Librarian has picked up an odd lisp but Lurn feels something vague enter his thoughts, a name? Before it slips away.
The Librarian looks at you all expectantly.

The Librarian's expression passed from expectation to confusion.
"What? -... free city. What would be the point? And the strain and the cost would be catastrophic."
She stops to consider.
"What remains of -? What ruins are there above? Surely something is left. Who dwells south of the mountains? The petty kingdoms?"
