The Dark Elf Paladin looked back towards stun with a bit of curiosity and…a bit of worry strangely. Basal walked toward the door and leaned next to it, listening and watching the situation outside unfold. He then asked Stun
”I see…why is…that? I am…a Drolefi…(Drow)”
He looked down at his hands, they seemed a bit shaken and his face was that of concern and worry. Basal wasn’t sure what he was feeling, but worry was the overarching emotion he had at the moment. Basal did feel him try to focus his breathing and wondered to himself “Is he nervous as well?”
The man who sold them the horse is nowhere to be seen.
"I left my new stablehand Karl to prepare Mathilda for our ride," Noble Raimun explains. "The next thing I know, I look out and see this dragonborn creature taking my horse."
"A bit far from home," the Captain of the guard comments. "I thought most of your kind stayed in the Dragon Lands on the other side of the Great Forest. What brings you here, friend, other than horses, that is?"
Before Asshrak answer’s Maverick interrupts and stands between them cover in common clothes and a hood over his head
“Sir, please excuse me, this kind Dragonborn is unlike the rest, steal your mule he did not, he paid a man who claimed to be the stable master. I beg, find it in your heart to agree that he will return to you the mule if he can kindly get his 10gold back that he spent.”
Eskee, while heading back to the group hears the commotion and will pick up his pace to get to the group. Upon arrival he will stand next to Asshrak. He turns to the captain, “my apologiesss Captain. My friend here unfortunately took a club to the head a few yearsss back and doesn’t speak so well anymore. May I ask what the problem is?”
"Of course, kind sir," the Captain replies, mesmerized by Eskee's sibilant speech. "It appears that the Noble Raimun here is accusing your friend of stealing his prize mare."
"He will return my horse immediately," Noble Raimun tells Maverick, "but I don't know anything about ten gold pieces. Where is Karl?" He looks around for the stablehand.
Maverick looks back at Stun and Basil makes eye contact and gives them the nod to get Asshrak and the Mule and then the plan to cause chaos so they get escape and get lost in the crowd
Maverick stands tall and takes off his hood and begins to create a scene.
”the rumors are true it is I Prince Maverick son of King Moreno and Queen Merlaina of Thay. I am a trained assassin and I have decided to go against authority to protect those who need it. You have decided to go after a man who paid for his mule, the true rebel is the one who has allowed a stranger into his stables to take advantage of the common folk.”
Maverick makes eye contact with the captain and changes his silver eyes to blood red and to cause even more chaos uses the cantrip Thaumaturgy to cause tremors in the ground for the next minute, this hopefully is enough time for the rest of the group as well as Maverick to get lost in the chaotic crowd immediately after Maverick says
”Defend the innocent, Destroy the corruption, I am here, the guilty will pay.” Maverick makes eye contact with Eskee in the chaos “go with them, out of town. I will find you guys, none of you look for me”
Stun turns his attention towards Basal, turning his head in a bit of confusion. "I'll be honesty with you, Basal. This is the first time meeting any other race beside humans in my life. I have no idea what any of you are, but to me, you all look disturbing. Back at the inn, it took all the courage i had just to start speaking with Maverick. Then you approached me and observed me up and down what looks like to be out of suspicion. Our eyes then meet, and i can tell you are an honest being, which i haven't been meet with much honest folks till now. You are so i honest in fact, i felt silly wearing a cloth around my face around you..." Stun unveils his face momentarily, smiling as he speaks, "I don't fell the need to hide with you around." He then puts the cloth back around his face to observe the situation.
“I…I see…I don’t think…I’m someone you should…feel comfortable around…”
Basal said, rubbing the back of his head. Feeling a strange warm feeling as Stun trusts him so much to even show him his face. But Basal knew what he was, how brutal the Dark Elf kind are. But it was strange seeing someone without fear of him, it may be best if the Drow tries to instill in Stun a healthy fear of his kind to keep him alive. Basal looked out the stable and saw Maverick nod. It wasn’t until he started his speech that he put two and two together
”We can…talk later….Maverick told us to…move”
Basal walks out of the stable with Stun hopefully in toe. He beelines straight for Asshrak. Pushing past people, each person seemingly irritated or a bit nervous seeing a Drolefi here. As he finally made it to Asshrak and grabbed the reins of the mule. He looked to Stun and told him to get Asshrak to follow, then Basal simply began walking towards the Forest
Eskee hears Basal talking to Asshrak. Eskee angrily says to Basal, Stun, and Asshrak, “Maverick appearsss to be an idiot with a death wish. If we’re not careful he’s going to get usss all killed. I had this under control until he went insane! Know we have no option but to run and hope we don’t all end up in jail or dead.”
Eskee follows Basal, Stun, and Asshrak attempting to blend in with the crowd.
Basal looked back and didn’t see Maverick at all. He wondered about his whereabouts when Eskee showed up. Basal kept walking while listening to Eskee, hand clamped down harder on the reins of the mule in a bit of irritation but saying
”I see…we have become…fugitives….and Maverick?”
Basal has a harder time blending in with the crowd, he has silver armor and dark grey skin. But he did seem more calm in the moment than others. The Dark Elf didn’t know what to do about this. All he wanted was a mule
Eskee looks to Basal, “I apologize, I’m not angry at you guys,” he looks at the group with him, ”I’m not angry with any of you. I’m irritated with Maverick.”
“We need to make a decision quickly. As far as I can see our options are to return this donkey, plead our case, and hope that all we lose is our ten gold. Otherwise, we attempt to flee the city with the donkey. If we make it out we probably have bounty’s placed on us. If we don’t make it out we probably get thrown in jail. I’m not sure a donkey is worth all this trouble.”
Basal looks over at the mule, placing his hand on it’s mane and brushing it back and forth. The Dark Elf knew the most viable option here.
”If we…return it…there would be….no crime committed…we don’t…need the mule…it would just…make things easier…that’s all…”
Basal said, pausing in his sentence multiple times and looking down as if he was thinking and trying to not say something else. The Drolefi, handing the reins of the mule to Eskee
”I’ll…leave it…to you…Eskee…whatever decision…I will follow…”
“I understand…”

Maverick looks back towards Stun directly in the eyes
”This is important, I need you to look closely. Do you see the one who sold you the damn mule?”
The man who sold them the horse is nowhere to be seen.
"I left my new stablehand Karl to prepare Mathilda for our ride," Noble Raimun explains. "The next thing I know, I look out and see this dragonborn creature taking my horse."

Okay. Eskee, give me a charisma check. Maverick, I need a persuasion check.
Charisma check 21

Persuasion check: 21

Eskee tenses up, but doesn’t move. He just stares at Maverick in disbelief.
After Maverick says what he says to Eskee he pulls his hood up and does what he can to get lost in the crowd
“I…I see…I don’t think…I’m someone you should…feel comfortable around…”

“You are correct Basal. This mule would my our journey easier. This just seems like too steep of a price to pay.” Eskee says as he takes the reins.
“Ssstun are you ok with thisss?” Eskee asks.
