Character Name: Vauthok Stormclimber Ovethageane Character Race: Goliath Character Class: Barbarian Backstory:Vauthok spent the first twenty-two years of his life among the Ovethageane herd high upon the unforgiving peaks of the Cyrios mountains. He, like most of the Goliath-kind, thrived in the perilous environment. Proving himself to be one of the most fierce warriors among the Ovethageane herd and setting himself on the fast track to possible leadership should the opportunity present itself. One of his peers, a beast of a Goliath known as Ilaman Highwarrior, didn’t take so kindly to second place.
Ilaman ambushed Vauthok during one of the numerous blizzards that battered the peaks of the mountain range. Vauthok was knocked unconscious and kicked from the mountainside after his tongue had been removed. Ilaman’s precaution should the young giant survive the fall. No need of the incident getting back to the herd. So Vauthok Stormclimber simply vanished and after searches continually came up fruitless, the herd wrote him off as another victim of the Cyrios.
It’s been a decade since Vauthok plummeted from the peaks and nursed back to health by a old croon just outside of Deastok. Since then the giant has made coin as a mercenary, finding the challenges such a lifestyle presented adequate enough to quiet his desire to return to his people and take his revenge. Ceaseless adventures netted Vauthok enough coin to have a very odd warlock construct him a prosthetic tongue. The damnable thing was magical enough for the man to form words again but not quiet powerful enough to work all the time, causing the warrior to fall back to his rudimentary hand-signs from time to time.
Coin and mead has most recently brought Vauthok to Kamordah. Hopefully to find himself in a pickle that someone would be willing to pay a large pile of gold to watch him cleave his way out of. One last challenge before ascending the mountains once more and ripping Ilaman to pieces and sprinkling him over the edge of the cliffs like ******* fairy dust.

Tess was adopted by an order of Blood Hunters when he was still a child after his nomadic tribe was destroyed by demons that seemingly appeared from nowhere. The order trained Tess in their ways, making good use of his nimbleness and shapeshifting abilities. After enduring years of rigorous training and endless tutelage, the leader of the order decided to tell Tess additional information about his tribe's annihilation. The leader informed him that the number and variety of demons that attacked his tribe was odd. The destruction of Tess' tribe was not a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but was likely an intentional and planned attack. Upon learning this, Tess left the confines of his order to seek out the one responsible for his tribe's death.
During his journey, Tess often disguises himself as one of the local races to help him fit in. One time he turned himself into a pickle, Morty! His ultimate task aside, Tess also takes jobs to slay all manners of beasts and monsters. In part to prevent those from befalling the fate of his own tribe, and also to help fund his personal expenses. Presently, Tess has taken a job as hired muscle to patrol the Temple of Bahamut as they hold their vigil. Assuming that the town is predominantly human, Tess has disguised himself as a human by the name of Jon.
When he reaches level 3, I plan to reflavor his class abilities. Rather than using mutagens to enhance his abilities, Tess uses his shapeshifting abilities to alter his genetic and physical makeup. Essentially allowing him to forcibly mutate, evolve and adapt as the situation demands.

Often times he went out to climb higher and higher along the peaks just to take a look around from a loftier view to see if he could find anything of interest that he might have missed from lower vistas.
One day while climbing to one of the peaks, he saw a strange light shining down on the pinnacle of the mountain. When he finally reached the precipice, Ray found a crystalline fragment with a faint glow. pickle When he picked up the object, he felt a comforting warmth. He took the shard home with him, and as he slept that night with the shard hanging from his neck on a string he had dreams of chasing a strange creature into the clouds. It ran on four hooves and had an otherworldly golden light dancing around it like the one he'd seen on the mountaintop the previous day. It called to him as it vanished into the clouds, but he woke up before he could understand what it wanted.
He awoke the next day and set out from his home without a second thought. He searched summit after summit, but none he came across had the strange light or any trace of the creature from his dream. Eventually his supplies ran low and he was forced to seek a means of employment so he could purchase more supplies for his expeditions into the mountains. Strangely, the dreams continued, and he found himself able to do things he couldn't before simply by focusing on the shard. After making his way to Kamordah in the employ of some traveling merchants peddling their wares in the town, his intentions were to explore the mountains on the opposite side of the river from his homeland.
Edit: I took the Inheritor background with the flavor that the Dark Shard Amulet was the thing he inherited as a gift from his patron. Keeping it close, using it, etc. strengthens the bond. Or at least, that was my line of thinking. It's open to interpretation/discussion.

Backstory: Aalsan is indebted to the Kryn Dynasty, or so his recollections from the anamnesis process have told him. Further detail surrounding this prior life and bond through a guide was temporarily halted with the outbreak of war, as his skills, bi racial traits, and isolated identity were viewed as a boon in further service of the Bright Queen's - specifically the Lens' - goals.
After some further training and through a string of contacts and sympathizers Aalsan has been assigned to infiltrate the lands of the enemy and recover what intelligence he can that might be of use. Under the guise of a mercenary, Aalsan has set off to towards the wine-making town of Kamordah within Dwendalian Empire, where his local contact - a chef and local merchant specializing in exotic flavors originating from pickles - is positioned to pass on any gathered intel to or information from his commanders in the Lens.
Backstory: Cassius Edelbert Kemp is the Scion of House Kemp, a minor and oft forgotten noble house that once had a major claim to a large amount of land in and around Kamordah. In recent years the family fell on hard times and lord Kemp put great pressure on young Cassius to do whatever was needed to return their family to glory. This started with hopes of him being a knight but after failing to even handle riding a lame old mare named Pickle, this hope was given up.
Feeling chafed by his overbearing father, Cassius would sneak out and rabble rouse with the locals around his age. Here he picked up a penchant for mischief and began to commit pranks or other petty crimes to pass the time. On one su h occasion he stole a strange book and then began to hear voices from it. Being young and rather foolish he opened the book listened to voices instructions. Out of the book came a strange fey being that out of gratitude for being freed gave Cassius a gift and accessor to magic if the young noble agreed help him in the future. With a hand shake a deal was forged and then the fey being disappeared.
Ability Scores: Ability scores: 61618161211 Character Name: Meesha Breen Character Race: Variant Human Character Class: Fighter (Champion) Backstory:
But I'm on vacation! Meesha thought to herself as she angrily took a bite out of a pickle. She chewed one. Twice. Then swallowed with a grimace and picked up her helmet and spear.
She had wandered into Kamordah almost by accident. She was on vacation and letting the fates pick the direction she wandered next. Ok, ok. To be honest she had been fired. Canned. Let go. They literally tried to terminate her. Yes, she had abandoned her post guarding the entrance to the temple. But to be fair, it was hardly the first time and the thief who had snuck in and stolen the relics had entered from the rear. Her standing at the front door looking all stoic wouldn't have prevented one damn thing. Still, those religious types can be quite unforgiving. Go figure...
And now, right in front of her eyes, another temple is being attacked... Not her temple. Not even her town. But she's trained to deal with this type of thing and those civilians in the middle of that chaos weren't... With a second sight, Meesha slapped her helmet on and headed towards the mayhem...
Ok, I am being a bit non specific in the backstory - I'm a CR fan but I tend to sit back and enjoy it rather than memorize the lore and such. Meesha Breen is a bit of a general "guard/fighter" type and her specific place of birth and place she protected is less important than the idea that she feels she let down those she was set to protect yet also denies any culpability in what happened. It's the varying views which urge her on to prove herself while carrying a chip on her shoulder...
I've never done Wildemount's Heroic Chronicle so I will, should be fun. Will post results and any changes as a reply to this so as not to mess up the stat rolls...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Homeland: 35
Menagerie Coast
Background: 16
Sage - Hmmm, studied at the temple and also guarded it? Or perhaps snuck away from post to secretly study...
Social Status: 1
Noble - 1 ally. Ok so now thinking a noble daughter of some kind (whose only job had been to study, thus Sage) who didn't want to be married off to form an alliance so left the family and their area and ended up getting job as a guard for a temple somewhere....
Menagerie Coast Settlement: 63
Nicodranas... The Breens are a powerful family and have a major hold on the import/export business between the Managerie Coast and the Dwendalian Empire. Despite all the studying forced upon Meesha growing up, she was always more of a "tomboy" and preferred strengthening her body instead of her mind, actual gymnastics over the mental kind. She seethed at the idea of being trapped in the family business.. Thus the running off to Copia Wildwood. It was the perfect place for an adventurous soul such as hers... She got a job locally until that went south and she then wandered took off across the mountains and found Kamordah.
Family Size - City: 84
1 parent (father, partly why she grew up as a tomboy?) and 2 siblings...
Powerful Family Relationships:
Roll a d3. This is the number of powerful relationships you have within your family. 2
So a Father and I would go with a brother who was set to inherit the family business, thus why Meesha feared being married off to create ties for the business. But lets see what the dice say!
Roll once on the Family Relationships table for each powerful relationship you have within your family, to determine the setup of your friendship or rivalry.
Father - 13
Brother - 38
So Meesha's Father loves her, but they are not close. Fits. He still would do anything to help her... if only she would reach out for that help.
Brother left long ago for unknown reasons. He promised Meesha he would return if she ever truly needed him...
Ok, brother bit as an ally somewhere out there doesn't 100% mesh with storyline I was building so....
Meesha was many years younger than her brother and it was a given that he would inherit the great Breen Import/Export business. Meesha was given a comfortable life and her father and brother both doted on her... Until her brother left with no explanation why. All he said as a goodbye was that he would return when Meesha needed him most - whatever that meant. As the days and years passed since her brother left, her father grew more and more distant. He still loved her and provided her with everything... Except that emotional support and presence that every child needs. As this grew deeper and deeper, Meesha started disregarding her studies and instead started researching her family's past and where her brother may have gone to. She found out little... But something led her to suspect he had headed north towards the Copia Wildwood...
Ally Relationships - I believe I have 1 from Noble birth... 57
You were this person’s favorite drinking buddy, and their home is always open to you and your friends. So, Meesha drinks! Makes sense with her abandonment issues and distant father...
Likely another student who took their Sage teachings much more seriously and much further than Meesha did...
Fateful Moment: 19
You were the sole survivor when a horde of rampaging monsters raided your village or your neighborhood. You have proficiency in the Stealth skill or proficiency with martial weapons (your choice).
Fighter so already have Martial Weapons, so will take Stealth as an extra skill. yay... Unless DM prefers different (if I am chosen) I would say this happened after Meesha left. Perhaps this happened when she snuck off during her guard duty and that is why she has a chip on her shoulder and feels a need to prove herself... And revenge versus that type of rampaging monsters. Could be even why she crosses the mountains and headed to Kamordah.
Favorite Food: 2
Snakelocks noodles—sea anemone tendrils coated in honey batter and delicately fried It's really the honey batter that is the secret to this dish!
Mysterious Secret: 1
Once while on a boat, I heard a voice rumbling around me. I looked down below the water, and I swear I saw golden eyes looking up at me.
Ok, honestly... this one seems like just a random unconnected event in Meesha's story.
Prophecy Goals...
Seems you only roll here if you need inspiration? Eschewing that, I would go with:
Immediate: Hunt down the monsters who wiped out the people around what Meesha was guarding (Will still go with a Temple unless DM finds more suitable) Complication: The hunt brought me into the Dwendelian Empire, who knows what could come of it.
Long Term: Prove herself... To herself if nobody else. She needs to work out having abandoned her post and the bloodshed that happened before she returned. She needs to prove to herself that she CAN stick with something after having left her studies, left her home and left her post. She needs to grow and accept her growth. Complication: Once you grow into your place in the world you then have to accept the responsibilities that come with it. This could be her family business or her role as a champion fighter... Both would be complicated.
Character Conclucuding Goal: Find her brother, find out why he left, why father grew distant when he did, and how it all ties into the import / export business? Complication: Being a business woman in an RPG game! lol... Complication would depend on what the answers were.
Going to hide ALL THAT in spoilers and summarize:
Meesha Breen was the accidental child. Born many years after her only sibling (her brother Marco) she was adored by the men in her family and spoiled rotten. She grew up in luxury and surrounding by books that she was expected to study despite her just wanting to run through the streets and roughhouse with other kids her age.
One night her brother roused her from her slumber. "I have to leave," he said in a hushed tone. "Tonight. Now. But I had to say goodbye first..." Marco hushed little Meesha and hugged her tightly before continuing. "Now now, little M, I will be back. Some day. When your need is greatest... We will see each other again." So far, Meesha has never seen Marco again.
As the days and years passed, Meesha's father Mawtain grew more and more distant. He still loved his daughter, made sure her every need was seen to. Except the emotional ones. Mawtain was always there, but never present in her life. As her father grew more distant, Meesha grew even more restless with her studies. Once she felt old enough she gave them up completely, by saying goodbye to her home and taking the the roads. Honestly, once does not escape the pull of a powerful Nicodranas family and remain in Nicodranas.
Heading northerly, Meesha took off with a vague idea of going to Copia Wildwood. She had heard a rumor from an old study buddy (and recent drinking buddy) Doy'a that her brother had been up that way a few years ago. Doing what? Doy'a knew not. Still, it was a start. Meesha got there easy enough and even found work guarding a temple to... Someone. Honestly, Meesha cared little to who or what the temple was devoted. They gave her armor, a spear and some spending money. And enough time off to start asking around about her brother...
It was while she snuck off to follow one such rumor that it happened. The attack. Honestly, Meesha never saw a thing. She was only gone a minute (ok, an hour!) but when she returned there was nothing but carnage and cries of the dying... No doubt she'd have been amongst them if she had been there... Doing her job... But... But...

The last thing she remembered before the cart was set ablaze were the bandits yelling, "It's not here!" After that, Cora was trapped under a burning cart and fell unconcious. She was soon found by a pack of lycanthropes and brought to their den.
Cora woke up a few weeks later, her legs amputated. She spent the next few months with the pack's help to recover and learn the art of shapeshifting. During her recovery, she bonded with Reina, a young black wolf, and practiced riding her throughout the Cyrengreen Forest. After some time, Cora grew anxious and wanted to reunite with her parents. Ability Scores: 61513161114 Character Name: Avir Wren Character Race: Human Character Class: Rogue (Thief) Backstory:
Avir Wren comes from the honored noble house Wren of the Dwendalian Empire. Well established with deep connections. Well at least that is the story told to anyone when asked. Most of the families wealth was squandered away by bad ventures involving pickles. What fortune is left to the family is held by a distant Uncle Brathis. Now his family still holds clout in Noble circles, but to save the family from financial ruin a marriage must take place. Avir's older brother Kerrick, must wed uncle Brathis's step daughter Althea.
To keep up appearances Avir turned to thieving. No one would possibly think a noble scion would be a petty thief. His family is regularly invited by some of the wealthiest families to parties or celebrations. A perfect opportunity to gain some coins for his family. Avir came to Kamordah to purchase bottles of wine. Truthfully Avir needed some air and a place to think. He rationalized that thieving was to help his family, but at the same time he actually likes stealing, maybe too much.

TenSoon arrived in a small town near Kamordah looking for a book in the Library on the Underdark, as the Guild believes it to have new information.
TenSoon found out that the book had been stolen, and has tracked the person to Kamordah. He will do anything, even kill, to get new information for the Guild.

Character name: Aalsan Inaleth
Race: Half Elf (drow/human)
Class: Fighter

A lot of pretty interesting applications! I'll leave this open until Sunday evening, and then make my decision then.

Character Name: Cassius Edelbert Kemp
Character Race: Variant Human
Character Class: Warlock (Arch Fey)

Character Name: Meesha Breen
Character Race: Variant Human
Character Class: Fighter (Champion)
Backstory:
Ally Identity: 88
Mage (MM); gain one fateful moment
But... But...
But now she needed revenge...

Character Name: Cora
Character Race: Lotusden Halfling
Character Class: Druid (Circle of the Moon)
Backstory: Cora grew up in Kamordah and worked at her parents' glassblowing business. She was never talented at the art and handled the shipment of goods instead. During a trip to Deastok, her caravan was attacked by bandits.
With Reina's help and the support of the pack, Cora left the Cyrengreen Forest and headed back to Kamordah.

Character Name: Dhalim Mujhad
Character Race: Human (Variant)
Character Class: Rogue (Possibly Mastermind)
Backstory:. Dhalim was born into a family with a respectable history. His father fought bravely as an officer for the Dwendalian Empire and retired. He has an older brother who now serves in the Dwendalian’s Army. Dhalim has a childhood love who now travels throughout the Empire, visiting the many libraries to ensure no contraband books are being loaned out. He has not seen her in over two years now.
Dhalim was sent to study as a political intern after school, under Mordian Shisk (who likes pickles), in the Dwendalian Empire’s political ranks. Mordian has often used his interns and apprentices to help spy. Dhalim has spied on several envoys and Mordian found that Dhalim was so good at extracting information that he sent him to investigate the cultists in Kamordah. Dhalim has arrived and is scouring for information regarding these little known cultists.

Character Name: Avir Wren
Character Race: Human
Character Class: Rogue (Thief)
Backstory:
Alright need to pull out of this campaign, some other stuff has come up... thanks for the consideration :)

Background - Folk Hero
Race - Half Orc
Arnag? She's been hanging around the winery longer than any one else longer than me, even... she might even have ole Joe beat on seniority ha! Freddie, the Boss afore me, when she was big enough to pick the grapes he would feed her some stew if she pick her weight in grapes. She'd even do extra weeding for pickles. The way she could out eat the donkeys in eating contests was a pretty big clue who her parents were, but Freddie found it amusing to keep her food allotment the same even though she was growing pretty quick. We never did find him. Near as I can tell she switched to hunting in order to eat her fill, and learned something of leatherworking from the dwarves up the stream closer to the mountains...

Character Name: Giso
Character Race: Human
Character Class: Monk ( Kensei)
Backstory: Giso was born in Palebank Village, but was orphaned when his family got caught in a clash between two criminal families. Desiring justice more than revenge, Giso trekked from the frozen north to the Temple of Erathis in Tal 'Dorei where he entered training to become a monk. While driven by his desire for justice, Giso adapted and embraced the martial aspect, along with the physical and mental discipline required. Rising to an acolyte, Giso earned the respect of those who shared his faith, and pursuit of justice.
Giso now travels across the Empire, providing aid to those who need it, and deals justice to those who are evil, or breaker of the laws. Giso had been traveling the Amber Road for a time, and made his way to the town of Kamordah, where he had heard of arumor that the people were in a pickle over cultists in the area, and he was coming to see what aid he could provide.
