Kobold 4 is encased in ice. Kobold 3, running frantically due to the fire, runs into kobold 4, shattering and killing him. Kobold 3 then dies from the burn damage, ending the combat. Arrya earns 25 exp for each Kobold killed (3)
After your encounter with the kobolds, it is an eventless walk until you make it to the gates of the city. The gates stand open wide, but a pair of guards stand vigil outside. You could try talking to the guards. Or you can try sneaking past them, just in case.
"Thank the gods you are here! Come in, come in, hurry! We have been waiting for adventurers that could get through the Kobolds, the dragon's minions. Only someone that can get through that ambush, has a chance of stopping Cathrax. I assume you're here because of the message about the dragon attacks? (Refer back to the story's beginning). If you want more information, you should visit the Mayor, Anissa Elsinore. You could also go to the Chantry (Church). I hear Cecil, the priest, knows of a magic weapon that can help slay the dragon. Or you could go to the Tavern, ran by Haedrig Stoneward. There, you can find Jonah, the town's scout. He knows exactly where Cathrax' lair is located. Go on in and explore the city. Just don't cause too much trouble. This town has enough trouble as it is."
You walk into the town, not saying a word to the helpful guard that is now disappointed that you seemingly ignored him by not responding.
The village is dotted with small thatched homes and connected with worn dirt roads, with a somewhat small manner resting on the highest hill. It looks like a perfectly normal village – aside from a torn and smoking banister on the manner, and scorch marks on the city walls.
You find the mayor's house and in it, you find Anissa Elsinore. "Thank you so much for coming! Will give you, and each of your companions 100 gold each, if you slay that terrible dragon for me. The dragon enslaved an army of Kobolds, to weaken adventurers for Cathrax to eat them. He had the Kobolds set up an ambush on the path here, to weaken any adventurer seeking to fight Cathrax. Our scout, Jonah, can tell you where to go. The priest Cecil, can tell you what to get. Please be careful though. My husband was a great fighter, and he was one of the first to perish at the hands of Cathrax."
Debating who to talk to first, I thank Anissa. “Thank you so much for helping. I will not let you down” I set out to talk to Jonah, to find where to go and then I will speak with the priest to see what I need to get.
"Farewell travelers. If you should need me, I'll be here."
You approach the Tavern, smelling the strong Dwarven ale, and hearing the obnoxious laughter before even getting to the door. You walk in, greeted by the bartender, Haedrig Stoneward. "Welcome to the Bristled Boar Tavern! If you need to rent a room, buy a drink or two, or find work, I'm your guy! Say, I haven't seen you around here before. You must be an adventurer sent here for the Dragon problem!"
At those last words, a few people in the Tavern shift noticeably. The first was a human scout, leaning on a support beam, with a longbow strung on his back. The next was an Elven Ranger sitting up at the counter, drinking some ale. The last was a hooded Dragonborn in the back corner of the moderately-sized room. He seems mysterious yet oddly approachable. These people might be useful to you. You contemplate who to talk to first.
I approach the Elven Ranger. “Exscuse me sir, I’m trying to get as much information about the dragon attacks as possible. Do you have any information that could help?”
She looks up at you and smiles. "Hi my name is Lola. I too, am an adventurer. I've been looking for possible companions to help take down Cathrax. I'm waiting to gain more companions before talking to Jonah, over there. Jonah is standing by that pole over there. I think we should go talk to that Dragonborn though. He looks powerful. And I'm sensing a strong magical aura coming off of him." She gets up, ready to follow your lead.
Alongside Marythia the Paladin, and Lola the Ranger, you think about what to do next.
Lola has this bright glow about her, and I can tell we’re going to get along well. With my two companions at my heels, I approach Jonah, and he looks up at us and addresses us with a nod. “I’m Arrya and this is Marythia the Paladin and Lola the Ranger,” I say pointing to them, “Anissa sent me, she said you’d have information about where to go. We’re here on the behalf of the dragon problem.”
Jonah's face brightens up instantly. "Yes, yes! I am so happy you are here! I scouted about 4 hours north and found out that the Kobolds made a lair at Fort Summershield. It is approximately a four hour trek from Foxdale to the Fort Summershield’s location. It is along the cost. It's hard to miss. But before you go, you should talk to Haedrig Stoneward. I hear he really needs someone's help and he's willing to pay quite a lot for the help. I don't recall the exact details, but it can never hurt to get gold for potions and other useful items. Either way, good luck on your travels! I hope I was of some use."
“Thank you so much, we’ll be on our way now.” The three of us turn to head out, but catch I catch a glimpse of the hooded man and decide to speak to him before leaving the Tavern. “Excuse me, I don’t believe we’ve met” I say to him and introduce the others, “We’re on a journey to fight the dragons that have been causing all of the chaos around here. Who are you?”
He looks up and you see a shimmer in his dragon-like eyes. "My name is Tyrath. As you can see I am a Dragonborn, but I'd rather not disclose my powers. Some people tend to take a disliking to wielders of my skill. I have been waiting for possible companions to help defeat Cathrax. I know exactly where the lair is, and my power can be a valuable asset. Allow me to accompany you all, in your quest. We all share the same goal, after all."
"Perfect. And do not be alarmed by my Draconic appearance. In the culture of dragons, there are 2 main kinds. Chromatic and Metallic. Chromatic being colors like Red, Blue, Green, Black, and White. They are the evil/Malevolent kinds of dragons. Metallic is things like Gold, Silver, Bronze, Brass, and Copper. They are the good/Benevolent kinds of dragons. The color determines what element that dragon can use in their breath attack. I am Silver. So I am good, and I use Ice breath. Cathrax is a Red dragon. So he is evil, and uses fire breath. My ancestors and his have been enemies for millennia. I wish to see him dead more than most people in this town. Before we go, however, we need to stock up on resources. How many healing potions do you have"
“I do not have any. Anissa, the mayor, told me to see the town’s priest, Cecile, to see what we need to bring on our quest. Perhaps we should find him?”
"No, Cecile will send us off somewhere to get a sword of some kind. I've already talked to him. The only way to get potions of healing are from Haedrig."

Arrya continues down the path to the city, still excited from battle

I speak with the guards and try to reason with them to let me pass

I decide to start with talking to the Mayor to get as much information on the previous attacks as possible
