Thomas spots the markings of the secret passage behind the throne and also the shifting of dust on a large area of the floor that suggests a rug has been removed recently. He spots nothing that could be considered dangerous, neither do the others.
They venture to the next room on the map and the gnomes unlock the doors for them. The room contains a jumble of nonfunctional gnomish gizmos, as well as loose gears, twisted bits of metal, and other scraps that the gnomes use to cobble together new inventions.

This area is lightly obscured by mist from the waterfall. The larger eastern part of the room contains two rapidly spinning devices that look like turnstiles fitted with stacks of long, sharp blades spaced 1 foot apart. The northern turnstile spins counter clockwise, while the southern one spins clockwise.
"How do we get past this?" Anders asks the gnomes.
Set into the south wall of the smaller western part of the room is a brass lever in the down position. The Gnomes simply walk up and move the lever to the upward position and the fan blades cease their movement. The company move through the otherwise empty area to cross the bridge outside.
Mist from the waterfall dampens this empty cave, which has a 10-foot-high ledge overlooking it to the south. Two rock gnomes stand on the ledge a female and a male . As the party enter cave, they call out, “Who goes there?” in Gnomish, then repeat the question in Common.
The next room they enter contains twelve forty-gallon barrels set into wide alcoves. Each barrel is secured by a wooden brace. The barrels in the south alcove have been tapped with wooden spigots. Two of those barrels are half full, and two are nearly empty.
The group get to work and Ander is losing patience.
"Is this really necessary? Clearly his majesty has lost his bloody marbl..."Anders words are cut off as the barrel he kicks shifts under his foot.
"What the?" he seemingly can not pull his foot away! "I'm stuck!" a low growl comes from the barrels and then a large toothy mouth opens up on its side.
He points to the map, "Could we borrow this?"

She sends Simon over to fetch them. He comes back with a clockwork amulet and a pole of collapsing.
Toot shows them to the gnomes, "These would be useful I think."
