We don't have to be on at the same time. It is only for adjudicating movement. You will only need to access it when it's your turn in combat and you choose to take a movement action. You will just move your token to the desired location, but still post a description and any dice rolls in this thread. Like playing chess via email!

[DM] Resolving everyone who did an investigation check first thing before starting this combat and before I advance time forward to you being attacked.
Barrel approaches the fountain looking down into the marble basin of the fountain. He sees 6 bright blue coins glimmering beneath the surface of the water.
Bran approaches the fountain and sees the same. Bran recognizes the skeleton arm with the scale as the symbol of Kelemvor, though doesn't recall seeing it on Jerub's garments anywhere.

Hildi sparks a torch but not without trouble. Hildi holds the unusually dim torch above his head and moves to explore the small temple alcove. Hildi tries to make some sense of the runes and pictograms carved into the stone pulpit. The stone is too eroded and the few runes that Hildi can make out look unfamiliar to him.
Carrow is able to light the torch, but it takes three or four strikes to get it burning, and the light emanating it seems very dim compared to usual. (Gives half the amount of a normal torch)
Flow walks over to Barrel and Bran as they investigate the fountain. Flow clutches onto his trident and peers into the darkness hanging over the rest of the room.
-Surprise Round-
Suddenly, Flow shouts into the blackness, taking an arcing strike with his trident towards a black flash, advancing at him out of thin air. Just as Flow attacks, the creature almost completely dissipates, then reforms around his weapon, seemingly unharmed. [Flow missed with his surprise round attack].
The shadow creature uses this opportunity to try envelope itself around Flow's arm, hoping to drain his life force. Blue Shadow Attack v. Flow = 20 Damage if it hits = 9 Necrotic Damage
Just then another dark, ethereal visage floats weightlessly out from behind the alter in the small temple, attempting to wrap it's shadowy hand around Hildi's arm. Red Shadow Attack v. Hildi = 23 (adv for surprise) Damage if it hits = 7 Necrotic Damage
As Hildi shouts out from the temple, a third shadow springs from the shadows, reaching out towards Barrel with it's ghastly, gnarled hand. Green Shadow Attack v. Barrel = 19 (adv for surprise) Damage if it hits = 7 Necrotic Damage
Hearing Flow yell out in front of him, Carrow charges towards the sound, drawing his quarterstaff. Upon seeing the creature he strikes out with his staff, followed by an elbow with the hand holding the torch.
