Hey guys! Very sorry for the delay. Vacation through me way off. Apologies. I'm sure it seemed I was ghosting you. I can resume on 6/20 if you guys are still game.
Quin listens quietly as the others ask their questions and get their replies. When he sees a break in the conversation he intersects with an inquiry of his own, "So Bohemia I hate to ask but would it be to much trouble for my friends and I to travel with you a ways? At least to the next town. Seeing how we're new here and all I'm sure we would all appreciate a little guidance. I understand if you think it might put you bad favor with Strahd but I feel we really could use some assistance."
"Master Bohemia," Kwami begins, carefully. "You seem like a good man, and we thank you for the warm welcome. We have no wish to burden your people or put them in danger. Can you direct us to a nearby village or town where we may seek shelter and perhaps formulate a plan? I don't think we are quite ready to just give up and be this Strahd's puppets in some unfathomable game."
Bohemia nods affirmatively, and motions towards Madam Eva with a smile. The old woman looks closely at Boil, and pops him in the nose. "Stop daydreaming!" As she takes a seat, she mumbles something about him having hatched from an egg.
To Kwami she answers, "Brother cleric, you are brave, but I'm not sure you understand your plight. Count Strahd von Zarovich is not only the lord of Barovia, but also master of the mists. The only rule of his game is your death. The only ending of the game is death - likely yours if history tells the tale."
DMN:
We are back! I really appreciate everyone's flexibility.
"Everyone's story ends in death eventually, not just here in Barovia. But this Count von Zarovich seems determined to toy with us for a while,"responds Kwami. "We shall have to attempt to prolong this game and postpone its 'inevitable' ending. Is there nowhere we can go to replenish our supplies and seek resources for the struggle that lies ahead?"
Madam Eva looks at Kwami intently. After a few seconds she looks slowly at the others, and then shakes her head. "To your point, inevitability is relative. I believe a Tarroka reading is in order. Let's allow destiny to decide if it wishes to intervene. Who will be my focal point?"
She motions to Bohemia to move a stump over in front of her as a makeshift table.
Yoli had been idly chatting with the Vistani around him while listening to the conversation. Upon learning of Madam Eva's occupation as a Tarroka reader, his interest was piqued, even though he'd never heard of such a thing. Upon hearing the request for a volunteer, Yoli jumped up and exitedly exclaimed "Me! Please let me be the focal point!" as he rushed over to the stump and clambered upon it, eyes gleaming with anticipation.
OOC
Yoli half believes that Madam Eva is a charlatan, so he's happy to help with the "act".
OOC (As a player, I'm not really sure what the view of the Morninglord religion is on Tarroka, as in favorable, not favorable, or indifferent. Should I google it or do you want me to make a Religion check?)
OOC: Would members of the party know what a "tarroka reader" is, or is there a roll (Arcana, History...?) that would allow one of us to see if our character has heard of it?
DMN:
Tarroka is specific to the vistani, so a role would not help. Certainly a question worth asking aloud. Most would probably assume some type of "tarot" related activity.
Either him or fat Fred

Boil will sheepishly smile at Madame Eva’s rebuke, wondering how she saw the fantasy playing out in his mind.
