Sorsha messages back to Ruhm that she wants him to scout ahead and report on the progress of the bandits and their wagon. She then talks to the crew while walking. "There are twelve horsemen in armor, possibly Luskan guard, coming from the south, maybe a mile away. We should expect them to turn up at our heels soon. We don't know if they will oppose us or will be potential allies but whatever we do we don't want to aggravate them. She says, keeping a look out behind them to see if and when the riders appear.
Perception: 14
You can’t see them, but you can spit the dirt clouds being kicked up. ( are you waiting for them to get to you or are you moving?)
"Yes, we will find a way to complete our mission Bjorn." Sorsha says reassuringly. As she notices the riders approach from the behind she stops, ready to greet them. "They are coming. Let's be diplomatic now!" She says to the others in the crew. "Oh, and if things turns ugly this place might turn into a conflagration, but don't fret it will only be an illusion to hold them off."
Bjorn invokes the Mask, changing into a stooped, frail old man with tattered boots. "Alright, just don't let their horses trample all over the tracks." He begins pulling boots off the dead and comparing them to his own, a slow and shaky process which occupies him until the knights arrive.
Edit - If we're not in that area, he instead sits on the ground and complains about having to walk, thus halting the group's progress. (Just creating an excuse for why we're stopped, since "we saw you from overhead through the eyes of a devil" probably isn't what they want to hear lol.)
( we are going with you having moved up the road a bit, away from the crime scene)
Sit at the side of the road, waiting for the soldiers to make it to you. A bit of time passes and you assume they have paused at the ambush site to investigate. The sky has become fairly cloudy and the breeze has hint of chill on it.. after a bit of waiting, the first soldiers appear coming around the bend. Their formation is more open than usual, more of a prepared for battle type than a regular patrol and the lead two soldiers appear very wary of the surroundings. When you are spotted, the soldier on the left holds up a small flag, signaling to those behind. Two riders appear from the rear of the formation and make their way to you at faster pace. Not a charge, but with more urgency than the main body who keep moving forward in formation. One of the Riders calls out when they reach 50’ of you.
“ Hoe there travelers, we are the lawful guard of Luskan. We have questions. Do not draw weapons nor make aggressive movements and we shall speak!”
"What can we do to serve the lawful Luskan Guard then?" Sorsha asks politely, standing in front of the crew to face the spokesman of the riders, holding her hands out in a peaceful manner.
Bjorn squints at the riders. "Eh? What'd he say? He has an awfully hard time busking? Well, he should! He hasn't got an instrument! We're not a charity, tell him to buy a lute!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sparhawk stands calmly with weapons sheathed. He does a perception as they approach to see if he can pick up anything out of the ordinary, also noting military/ guard rank if applicable (Soldier background): (Perception: 19)

Sparhawk notices all the horse’s packsaddles are filled with stuff from the loot pile. You also notice, the rider that accompanied the speaker has three freshly loped off heads tied to his saddle, which you recognize from the pile of dead bandits. The speaker seems to be something akin to a lieutenant, based on the markings on his pauldrons.
"What can we do to serve the lawful Luskan Guard then?" Sorsha asks politely, standing in front of the crew to face the spokesman of the riders, holding her hands out in a peaceful manner.
the Speaker addresses Sorsha directly, “ I am Lt. Gorn. We have some questions regarding the bodies and litter back around the bend. Did you see what transpired? Do you know who is responsible?”
"No, none of us saw what transpired, but the apparent attack would have happened recently though and considering we didn't meet any bandits there's good reason to believe the perpetrators are ahead of us on this very road and not far away. Now, are you here to hunt them down or just on patrol good sirs." Sorsha says politely.
[Hm. They're gonna pretend they killed those guys when they get where they're going, I bet. Lol.]
Bjorn, still sitting in the dirt, leans over to Eberk and barks, "Did he say his routine is gaudy, with glitter all over his friends? Is that why they're all so shiny?"
[I'm not trying to accomplish anything lol. Just being silly in the background.]

“ it is our charge to patrol and reduce the banditry along this road….it seems someone has done us a favor. “. He laughs a bit, dropping his stuffy demeanor for a sec.
the man with the heads holds them up, strung together like fish on a stringer, “ yeah, each of these guys has a bounty on theys heads. A nice payday for the 9th patrol squad..”
the Lt. gives a signal to his group and that is when you realize there are 12 horses, but only 10 men. And archer appears out of the bushes on each side of the road and the quickly move to get onto the riderless horses.
” well then, that’s all I need for the report, safe travels to you” and they begin to turn around to head back towards Luskan.
Once the riders are a good distance down the road Vars says, "Why did that feel to easy? I suppose they could be content with the bounties...speaking of which, why didn't we know anything about those bounties?" He shakes his head, muttering something under his breath before he turns and unconsciously resumes walking down the road following the deep wagon tracks.

Frangipani listened attentively and waited to be told where she was needed.

I think we agreed we r moving

( if you are moving and a reasonable pace they will not necessarily catch up to you right away. They are moving at regular pace, not charging ahead)

Eberk climbs down and stands alongside Sorsha, ready to greet the riders.
( I am assuming you have moved up the road a ways and have now stopped? Or are you in the ambush area with the bodies and loot?)
[I don't think anybody's sure lol. Let's say we're near the bodies, in clear view. That's probably the least suspicious way to be ]
Frangipani watches Bjorns antics with a raised eyebrow...

As he speaks, the rest of the troops catch up and maintain their formation. Eyes on all of you.
