Salamir chuckles, "I assume you are able to translate your own sentence, Garth?".
He turns back to Sheriff Redd. "As for the issue of payment, I am sure we can work something out, but room and board whilst in town seems like a start".
He turns to the others. "I can only speak for myself, and I know I likely can't do this without you all bearing in mind what we know of these Orcs, but I am going to help".
"Oh Sal, I can't let you go killed on your own. Guess I'm going along. But yeah, room and board is definitely a good start!" Belkaria rubs her hands together as she thinks about food.. her stomach makes a bit of a rumble as they stand around.
Sherriff Redd turns to you and says, "Nothing like this. I've never seen anything like this. I know that the orcs were headed toward the Forbidden Caverns, but I've never seen them around here before. I have no idea what they are after. But it is strange that they took Lophi and the book. Perhaps they have some illness they are facing?"
Garth :
Right after saying that, he looks to you and says "I agree with you 100 percent. This is damn peculiar. Like nothing we have faced before. Perhaps you can track them? Anyway, you'll likely need to rest and get after them in the morning, perhaps then it will become clear." He looks at you with an odd and somewhat impressed look when you speak in the orc language. He says "No, we haven't seen them in the past. I had no idea they were anywhere near us. Get your rest tonight and we'll talk again in the morning."
You head toward the Blue Mountain Inn and Tavern, Missy gives you a warm greeting again and the best table in the tavern, with excellent service. That evening you discuss the events of the day over a savory rabbit stew, with plenty of looks from the locals. Earlier in the evening, a small dwarven boy comes up and puts his finger on one of the emeralds of your scimitar sheath Garth, before his parents scoop him up and shuttle him away, expressing their apologies and asking for forgiveness in bothering you. The night wears on, eventually Vanessa comes over giving you each a room key, nodding and respectful, obviously aware of your status in town. The fire in the gathering room is dying and one by one the locals are starting to file out.

Salamir enjoys the evening at the Blue Mountain, greeting Missy and any of the other local residents he recognises warmly.
”I wonder if these Orcs are holed up in Sawtooth’s old hideout. Or do you think there is more to the Forbidden Caverns we haven’t found?”, he asks the others.
During the evening, unless there is other entertainment, he will play his new lute.
After a couple of ales, Garth feels some of the tension leave him. The warmth and music also help his mood. He nods at the parents as they apologize, "Curiosity is a good thing..." he says. "...and a love of gems comes naturally for a dwarf, eh?" He stares at the child a moment then adds, "But do not lose sight of the things that lie above the earth as well as those within it. Each have an important place."
When he is finished his meal he seeks a place in the shadows to relax and listen to the music undisturbed. He retires to bed when the music stops, ready for an early start.
Hlin enjoys the meals and the drink, but is a bit uncomfortable with the looks from the towns people "This attention is a bit much for me. I think I will retire early for the evening" Afterwards she makes her way to her room and takes the time to take off her armor. After reading her prayer book for a bit she goes to bed ready for the next day
Javier sinks down into himself a little bit with the attention. Writing down what the group has learned from the day and staring down at his food for the most part. “This attention is a bit much I will agree with you on that but hopefully we’ll live up to the reputation we’ve built so quickly. Maybe then it’ll start to get more uh normal for me…. Aside from that, Orcs are more troublesome than goblins, we’ll have to be careful, hopefully they haven’t been there long enough to set up fortifications.”
As some of her group shrink from the new found attention their status has awarded them, Belkaria drinks it in. She doesn't believe they are the new Shadow Guardians, but loves the attention - actual welcome attention - all the same. Usually when she meets people they shrink from her, being the red-skinned tiefling she is, but this, it was something new and she wasn't going to squander it.
"Why Missy! Good to see you again as well, and thank you for the delicious meal, make sure to keep those drinks coming!" and anyone that gives her a regarding look, she gives a wink in response. As Salamir starts up the lute, her weariness from traveling is the only thing that stops her from dancing to the beautiful music he was getting out of that new lute of his. Instead, she audibly cheers him on randomly, excited for her new friend and wants to keep up his spirits as well.
As Vanessa gives them their keys, "The rabbit stew was scrumptious, thank you! Looking forward to see what breakfast will be!"
You all retire to your rooms, thinking over the events of the day, wondering what tomorrow will bring. You each begin your own meditations, nighttime routines readying for bed.
At that moment, around midnight or so, you hear a sudden banging on each of your doors. A voice calls out hurriedly, “This is deputy Jaggon, I just started work with Sherriff Redd, he sent me to come get you. The Orcs have raided the Ildiwyn temple again. Get your things and hurry, come with me to the temple!”
You all know that Ildiwyn is the Goddess of healing and enlightenment. She has many temples with acolytes and clerics that serve communities as healers. Her symbol is a single hand palm out with a maupi plum.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Garth is out of bed quickly but it is a minute or two before he is fully armoured and ready to leave. With a last glance around the room he follow Jaggon to the temple. "Nothing's ever simple, eh lad? What did they steal this time? Herbs and tinctures, maybe?"
Javier rubs his eyes, furiously scrambling for his glasses before gesturing for his familiar to hop on his shoulder as he opens the door. “A second raid of the same place… they must need more to perform whatever procedure or ritual they need done.” He agrees with Garth as he swallows loudly rubbing the back of his neck as he takes out his spell book and is at the ready to rush to the temple.
Salamir slowly comes to consciousness after a late night entertaining the locals. “Hold on, hold on”, he calls as his brain finally registers the words Deputy Jaggon is speaking.
He gets dressed in his travelling clothes, packs the rest of his gear, and eventually joins up with the others.
”Ok, I’m ready. How far is the temple? Have you arranged horses for us to use to catch up to these Orcs?”, he asks, getting right to business now was there.
"GO AWAY!!" Belkaria yells as the deputy bangs on her door. He pauses for a minute, then persists, so she slowly rolls over and yells, "WHAT??"
Once she sort of hears what the request is through the closed door, she grumbles a bit more and slowly gets out of bed. Once dressed she stumbles down the stairs, rubbing her eyes as she joins the party, unsure if she got both legs or a leg and her tail in her pants as she stands there feeling uncomfortable. She looks down and sees they are just a bit twisted, but good. Breathing a sigh of relief since she is standing amongst her band-mates. She waits to hear the answers to the questions that they had posed, yawning loudly.
Deputy Jaggon quickly says, “No time, follow me, I’ll tell you on the way!”
You gather your items quickly and move after him, as he is running he tells you while huffing and puffing, “Don’t know… what they stole. Sheriff’s there… with Adjin. He’ll get…. horses if you needem. Just a… few blocks from here.” You run at a full pace and arrive, taking in the scene.
The Sherriff is speaking with Adjin, an acolyte for the temple. She is dressed in white robes and appears quite shaken. “We heard a crash and some strange sounds. I ran down the hall and saw an orc run across the hall from the library. It must have jumped out the broken window.”
She steps into the library to look around quickly and Redd speaks to you. “I’ll settle the townsfolk. We need to chase down these orcs, I’m afraid it must happen tonight, perhaps you can catch them! I’ll have Jaggon round up some horses for you, that will give you your best chance.”
At that moment, Adjin returns. She says “The Black Book was taken! I do not know what was in the book, I was forbidden from reading it. But it was an important book as it had a special place in the library.”

He turns back to Sheriff Redd. “I know between us we have the skills to hunt these Orcs, and if they are on foot we might even beat them back to the caverns. Although we don’t want to risk the horses travelling too fast at night”.
”Shadow Guardians or not, we work well together, we proved that before. Let’s show these Orcs exactly who we are and what we are about”, he says to his companions.

"Again?? Dang, that is taking some risks. Something must be wrong with the orcs, it is sounding desperate. This is interesting. And a Black Book you say? Man, yes... lets get going!" Belkaria has a sparkle in her eye now that she is fully awake and the information is sinking in.
As Salamir turns to rally them, she smiles "Why yes, of course. Apparently it is what we do."
While on the move Javier casts mage armor on himself as his body glows an aquamarine color briefly before returning to normal a magical shield floats over his head, taking the form of a simple buckler before also disappearing. Garth looks around the room, frowning a little more each time someone expresses the need for haste, "Tracking's hard enough..." he says, ""...add darkness and horses into the mix, and you may as well just stick a pin into the map. Which makes me wonder: How is it that we know they came from the Caverns?"
He closes his eyes and rubs his temples for a few moments before looking up at the sheriff. "Let me get this straight:orcs have raided this town twice, not killed anyone, not even attacked anyone, but they did kidnap a healer and take some books. Are you sure you're not witholding something from use, sheriff?"
Garth tries to recall if he's heard of the black book: 5 (hitsory/religion)
