Lucky would close his eyes, seeming as though he was getting lost in deep thought as he recalled the details of his conversation with Nyral. After a couple of seconds, Lucky would respond, "I don't know. All I recall is Nyral muttering about their brother and a fire. Sorry." He'd then start to slowly pace back and forth after Truador mentions the similarity.
"I'm Nova." The person starts moving slightly under the covers, and after a few moments of clear struggle they sit up. Nova is relatively small and pale for a firbolg, but as they sit up and straighten their legs fully their feet peek out at the edge of the bed. They huff gruffly and sit still for a moment as they catch their breath. Then they looks towards Nyral, and then towards Truador, then towards Lucky, following the conversation silently. But as Lucky starts to mention them talking about their brother in their sleep, they have to interject. "Sleep talking?" They look down at the bedsheets as Luckyand Truador continue talking. They try to speak, but end up in a severe coughing fit that leaves them breathless for a while. But finally they manage to croak, "My brother's... dead," before launching into another bout of coughs.
Nyral:
You almost miss it, but you can see a small trace of the Couchmare spell on the pillow Nova is leaning on.
Zanibi:
Nova's pillow is definitely being affected by the Couchmare spell.
Inquisitive:
Previously, as you were walking towards the back of the carnival grounds, you did notice a fortune teller's tent along the way.Brightly colored, it's pretty hard to miss.
Redraziel, on the other hand, saw a pretty interesting pile of popcorn on the floor and has been too preoccupied with picking at it to look around.
You're easily able to relocate the tent, but there's a very big crowd in front of the entrance and you're not able to get a good view of the inside. And you'll have to wait quite a while before being able to walk inside. You call Redraziel's attention, and it flies over to you, but it seems to have a similar problem as you.

As her spell is completed, Zanibi examines the pillow. "Yes," she says matter-of-factly. "The pillow definitely has the Couchmare spell on it. We should probably at the very least move it." She takes a single step towards the bed, then pauses. "Hmm, I wonder if it would be dangerous to others?"
She tries to determine if she can tell anything about how the spell might work. Is it targeted to just one person? Works on whoever lies on the pillow? Would it affect a person just touching or moving the pillow briefly. She tries to maintain the Identify as she thinks about it and studies the pillow. (Arcana: 20)

After returning to the Fortune teller's tent, Inquisitive waited in line while sending the invisible Redraziel inside to find a discreet place to perch while his master used his senses to see and hear what was going on inside. He was particularly interested to see if the Fortune teller might be the old woman that had followed Calda, and if there was any mentioning of guilt in any way during the fortune telling.
Truador watches Nova with a pained expression. Who would wish such suffering on anyone? Who could do this to a fellow being? Once again he tastes his saliva thicken, and again he forces himself to swallow it. Vengeance, will have to wait.
"You should rest", He says to Nova, "You don't need to tell us about your brother if you don't want to. However, if you have any idea who might wish you harm, please tell us."
He looks at Zanibi, "If you wish to test this theory, I will be a willing subject. I am quite resilient.... though i would suggest we wait until after attending the carnival."He says slowly.
"Im not sure that moving or replacing the pillow will work unless we figure out how it's being cast. Nova was moved." They look towards Cat and ask "Tell, me. Did you bring his pillow from the last room? As I understand you were all staying at the inn together. I assume this is a new pillow then right?" He looks towards the person that desprately needs rest but can't get it. Nyral suspects they might have another day, two tops before the spell takes them. He scooches down to be level with Nova and asks, "Nova, you are under attack by someone or soemthing. We can help you, I know it's hard to focus and your are exhausted and sick. We need you to help us help you. Perhaps talking about your brother will help? It seems to me you need to get that off your mind before we can ask anything else. Tell me, how did he die? When was the last time you saw him alive? Was there anyone else there when he passed?"
After thinking about it deeply for a few seconds, you come to the conclusion that the spell ought to work a lot like Alarm in a sense that it is a catch-all spell. Looking closer at the pillow confirms your theory, as you recognize much of the same properties coming from the Couchmare spell. There is a possibility that some beings are excluded from the effects of the spell, but otherwise its effects are triggered indiscriminately. You can’t see how big the area of effect of the spell is, but theoretically as long as you keep out of its range you can move the pillow without a problem.
Inquisitive:
You wait in line as you send Redraziel out to scope out the inside of the tent. Unfortunately for him, inside there isn’t anywhere for him to perch that would offer him a good look at the fortune teller inside. The luscious silks, shiny beads, and other things that hang from the ceiling obscure his view so much that he can’t see anyone inside.
(Just so you know, Cat hasn’t come back.)
Nova, struggling to take a full breath, finally is able to force out a reply to your request, Truador. “No one.. I know.” They wheeze slightly, then turn to look at you, Nyral. Their breathing seems to only get worse as you ask them more questions about their brother. “Fire,” they spit out. “Years.. ago.” This sends them into another coughing fit so animated a few tears roll down their cheeks. Once they’ve calmed down, they resign to staring off into an unoccupied corner of the room.

"I think the Couchmare spell would trigger on whoever comes into contact with the spell. I'd surmise the caster may be able to set up exclusions or such. But once case, it's going to affect whoever comes across it." She pauses for a moment. "Though placing it in someone's pillow makes it really likely that person will be the one affected I think."
"If you keep out of the range of the spell, it should not harm you." She starts to chant, 'Ebushr Sprina', casting Mage Hand. She has the hand go over to grab hold of the pillow and remove it from the bed. Looking about the room, she tries to find an out of the way corner to place it down.
"I could try to cast Remove Curse on the victim here perhaps," she suggests. She considers whether she thinks that spell might counteract the effect. (Arcana: 27)
