"Parrots? I'm sorry, I do not know what that is, but I can infer your meaning." As Griff answers Sol nods along with what he says. He then smiles at Gewyn's comment though adds, "I hope so. Though compared to Mori, I am but a pup. My ninetieth birthday is coming up next, but Mori? She has been here for centuries. Who was I to question an advisor that had been doing her job before my parents were born? Come to think of that... do you question your gods where you come from? We were told Vox Tontritor demanded this, so this was done. I am an aasimar of light, I know what happens when gods are ignored."
He sighs, "Yes, Shenoh has us advisors to show her different view points and try to show all aspects of arguments and ideas and such... but this is not to question a god. Honestly, even with the money changing hands, it never crossed my mind to question." He hangs his head, "To all of our folly. This is a tragedy our home will never recover from I'm afraid. Even if Nivara can be beat."
He nods to a pair of goliaths as they pass them, then pointing towards a large corridor, "The stables are just past this hallway."
Sam rolls his eyes but makes no remark. Sam wonders just how effective an advisor can be if they are unwilling to question their elders but doesn't comment. He turns down the corridor he's directed to for the stables and readies his goggles to be used again...
Vin nods as Sol speaks. He was a little surprised by Gewyn's comments before Sol speaks. Gewyn had known this person for all of half a day, possibly less and yet he speaks for him. He was also surprised by Sol's age.
"Firstly, there is another member of our group that will be joining us. Her name is Neferox, and she is quite large, fur covered and walks on four legs. She is a hound. I am about to summon her, and don't want you or anyone else to get the wrong idea", he explains.
"I know my questions seem harsh. What is done is done, but I am merely trying to understand. There is no need to be defensive. I did not expect you to openly question your god, I only asked whether you had doubts, whether you ever thought it strange. Obviously you were conditioned not to. What about others, is there anyone else that has been around as long as Mori? I guess a question for Shenoh if we gain her trust. Also, you mentioned the money, of which there was a lot that would be needed. That was Mori's idea right? Vox Tontritor had no need for gold. So where did the money come from? Something must have been traded to get it from where we come from. Perhaps our treasury knew about what the money was for? Or whoever was funding it from our side. Did Mori deal with those on our plane for this purpose? Did she meet them in person at all?", he then answers, still trying to keep emotion and judgement out of his tone.
Sol nods to the mention of Neferoux and then looks at Vin, "Defensive? I thought I was just answering your questions to the best of my ability. I'm not used to outsiders questioning how we do things here on Shenoh, especially after we just found out ourselves how badly we have been duped. Do you ever question your government? Back where you are from? Are they open and honest about everything? Immune to corruption? I try to do what is best for Shenoh, for the people of this isle." As Vin dives deep into questions about the money, Sol's eyes widen a bit, "Um... wow, I have no idea. I'm a cleric advisor. I do have a budget of course... what I use to pay the salary of my soldiers and I try to give some to several charities. But what you're asking.. you would have to ask Shenoh, but does that all really matter? Because of your friend Gewyn, we have been shown what is going on and we are taking direct action because of it. I don't know why you are questioning things so? I am grateful we are getting rid of the stuff pronto."
Turning to Gewyn from his comment, "If trust was permanently destroyed, you all would not have been given this chance."
“Apologies, Sol. I was just trying to understand how widespread this issue is”, Vin replies, getting the message that Gewyn is the one Sol is crediting for uncovering the truth. Gewyn’s comment alongside this is enough for Vin to stop talking and remain silent like the others.
Gewyn falls back to walk nearer to Vin, not showing Nef the fearful distance he once did. Privately but not secretly, he says to Vin, “Your questions are good. But with freshly won allies, I’ve learned it’s best not to push too hard too soon in uncomfortable places. Stepping lightly can be tiring, but that’s politics. Don’t stop wondering, though. Your perspective brings up questions others may miss.”
As Sol leads the group down winding corridors, you eventually find yourselves in yet another stabling area within the core. The recent arrival of a lot of lieutenants here for orders, means those working the stables are very busy and when they eventually become available to chat, you are told that they can only offer two or three giant eagles at a push, despite the stables being near capacity.
"Don't worry, Gewyn. You can do the liaising with our allies", Vin replies to Gewyn.
He follows along and waits quietly when they reach the stables, his hand idly stroking the fur of Neferox's neck. The hound for her part is more curious about their surroundings, her keen eyes scanning the number of soldiers and workers. She has seen first hand how efficient they can be if they want to take someone down.
The functionary gives a nod and before they head off to prepare the mounts, they give a bow to Sol and add, "I almost forgot, Francis has had some minor adjustments but is ready to go if you'd like?"
Omertyr looks over to Sam with a frown and asks something in giant.
Sol nods as those working the stables tell him that there are three eagles available. He turns to look at your group to try and ascertain who will need a ride and who will be able to fly on their own. That's when he hears Francis is ready to go. He breaks into a broad grin and clasps his hands together. "Oh now that is good news! Yes, please bring him out." Turning back to the group, he asks, "So we have 3 eagles for five you say? Can any of you fly? Oh Vin you have a flying broom! That is a clever way of getting around. You did just bring your hound here out of thin air, can you make her disappear again until we get there? Then no one has to share an eagle?"
He then gets a bit serious as we wait for the mounts to be readied for the coming flight. Especially making sure Sam hears, "So we are heading to the Mornlyft factory. Sam I know you mentioned you want to destroy the factory and everything in it. I think it would be prudent to keep the factory, it can be used for other things. Such as healing potions and other things that will aid us in the coming fight. Yes, destroy all the mornlyft and the processes inside that made it, but please, let's keep the factory. We're going to need all the help we can get if what we are going to be facing is anything like what you all have mentioned."
"Parrots? I'm sorry, I do not know what that is, but I can infer your meaning." As Griff answers Sol nods along with what he says. He then smiles at Gewyn's comment though adds, "I hope so. “If we had Shenoh’s trust…” Gewyn sighs. “I had it. It’s largely gone now. Perhaps permanently. Oh well. What’s done is done. We move forward.”
Turning to Gewyn from his comment, "If trust was permanently destroyed, you all would not have been given this chance."
Muir guffaws at the mention of questioning the council or them being honest and not conniving. Realizing he laughed out loud “apologies”
“Apologies, Sol. I was just trying to understand how widespread this issue is”, Vin replies, getting the message that Gewyn is the one Sol is crediting for uncovering the truth. Gewyn’s comment alongside this is enough for Vin to stop talking and remain silent like the others.
”I will leave you and Gewyn to it”.
He falls back and starts to summon Neferox.
Mui walks along with Vin after Muir's mini outburst and places a hand on the young man's shoulder.
“Incoming”, Vin says to Muir with a smile, before with a click of his fingers Neferox appears next to them.
Neferox stretches and looks around before padding alongside Vin.
They both look relieved to be together again.
Muir not wanting to lose an appendage again takes his hand off of Vin as Nef shows up.
Gewyn falls back to walk nearer to Vin, not showing Nef the fearful distance he once did. Privately but not secretly, he says to Vin, “Your questions are good. Sam shrugs. “We can wait,” Sam advises the functionary distributing the birds. “Shenoh’s the patient type.”
Muir stands by Vin "There are 5 of us, 3 eagles should be enough with Vin's broom? One of us would have to ride with another. That should work yes?"
"Sure, we can ride together," Sam replies with a wan smile.
The functionary gives a nod and before they head off to prepare the mounts, they give a bow to Sol and add, "I almost forgot, Francis has had some minor adjustments but is ready to go if you'd like?"

Sam replies in Giant, gesturing to Neferox as he does.
