Ginro looks on in bewilderment as the stone monsters enter the room, as Elthana continues to slice into his skin and lash ropes of blood from his body, he is beginning to look bloodied as he summons his staff to his good hand, though the orb that the group had previously seen encased in a lattice of enchanted chains at the top instead sits empty, he looks at the lack of orb with disappointment but begins calculating his next move, he mutters a spell and summons a whirlwind around elthana, (DC 18 STR save or become restrained) the wind whips up and ginro inverts his gravity falling up to the ceiling, where he stands 30 ft above Sam and Ömertyr, as the Djiin falls upward Ömertyr takes an attack of opportunity (31 to hit 23 piercing and Sam can take the same AoO if wanted) as Ginro stands there abive you all he responds to Elthana, "no trap!, no Mori!, nothing you accuse me of has evidence becuse none of it is true, I have facilitated nothing to benefit Nivara, never! not knowingly! but as I respond to your questions you ignore my own, what has come over you!?" he takes a vial from his belt and drains it, some of the slashes caused by Elthana's new blade ceasing to bleed so profusely (+46hp)
Sam hears Gewyn call out "WAIT" but instinctively ignores the bard... Or rather he is more willing to back Elthana's play than listen to the talkity talk of one who has made it abundantly clear what they think of Sam. Sam doesn't really listen to the words that follow that call to wait but Sam does feel an icky shiver run up and down his spine and feels mighty uncomfortable about Gewyn being behind him... Still and all though, Sam's focus is directly ahead of him - Ginro. As such Sam is able to focus on the task at hand even if he can't throw off the Fae Shapechanger's attempt to mess with his mind... Again.
Sam Opportunity Attack upon Ginro - making a straight roll as I believe Gewyn is behind Sam and thus not in his line of sight: Maul Attack vs Ginro: 23to hit for 11 magical bludgeoning damage. BUT Great Weapon Fighting style allows reroll of 1s or 2s so it is... well damn, still 11 magical bludgeoning damage.
At the first sign of Ginro trying to escape Sam twitches instinctively and swings his maul, smacking the Djinn back down to the ground with his weapon. Sam's Sentinel training, picking up from Morris the last time they visited that particular Aspect, allowed Sam to smack the dude in such a way that he had no ability to move from his spot... So Ginro is not 30ft above us at all.
On his actual own turn Sam gives a little nod of his head to Scooby who, as a Good Boy does, sides around Ginro so as to move into a flanking position with Sam on the opposite side. Scooby them makes a bit attack vs Ginro (with adv.)
Scooby Bite vs Ginro Snack: 18to hit for 4 piercing damage and if hit Ginro must make DC 11 Str save or be knocked prone. (Oops, forgot advantage... Rolling again and... well, the 18 stands.)
Sam then winds up with the maul and starts swinging like it was Spring Training or something... Ginro's head being the ball Sam is targeting.
Maul vs Ginro: (9 or 15) for 25 to hit for 15 magical bludgeoning damage (one 2 rerolled... got a 2 again.) 2nd Maul vs Ginro: (12 or 18) for 28to hit for 17magical bludgeoning damage.
Assuming Ginro is still an active target, Sam Action Surges and strikes twice more...
Action Surge Maul vs Ginro: (15 or 5) for 25to hit for 16 magical bludgeoning damage. AS 2nd Maul vs Ginro: (13 or 6) for 23to hit for 17 magical bludgeoning damage.
Total w/Oppo Attack, round and action surge: 76 damage with the lowest to hit a 23... With Scooby included, 80 with the lowest to hit an 18.
But oh!! Let us not forget Ratatouille!! While Sam admits to no culpability for the little rat's actions and would likely deny this is the same rat that had bested Muir not so long ago, they do get their turn...
Ratatouille has been manhandles (Loxodondled?), thrown, kick and landed upon the head of a Djinn. This was very disconcerting and annoying to the tiny creature... As such it takes a quick bite at the top of Ginro's head before jumping off the Djinn (afraid of no heights since he is invulnerable to fall damage) and then scurrying 20 feet towards Muir, the one he considers home...
Rat bite vs Ginro: 7 to hit... which I will assume fails.
And finally... As a Bonus Action after all that maul swinging and all... Sam attempts to catch his Second Wind and heals 14hp...
Ömertyr, seeing the state of Ginro, takes a back swing and smacks the Djiin on the side of the head with the back of his Morningstar (crit for 34 damage non lethal) the Djiin falls unconscious and bleeding, ömertyr raises his morning star once more and looks to Sam grumbling something in giant. If Sam gives him the go ahead he will strike down and kill. It is apparent to everyone what could be about to happen. (If anyone has a reaction now is the time)
Sam gives a shrug and says something back to Ömertyr, the giantkin frowns, the decision forming deep lines in his face and he shouts out as the morning star strikes down, cracking into the crystal floor next to Ginro's head sparing the life of the Djiin.
The monsters approach Sam and Gewyn and Muir not taking any real notice of the violence happening around them and also not seeming to want to attack either, they repeat their chanting request but since goblish is not working othe two smaller ones revert to asking in dwarvish and the large one speaks orc.
Muir watches the mayhem and chaos ensue without any understanding. Before he can do anything Ginro has been knocked out, thankfully not killed. He watches the mouse move 20 feet towards him and becomes panicked and then one of the creatures moves towards him causing more panic not understanding them. He puts his hands up and tries to move away “Sam get your mouse away from me!” He tries to talk to the creature next to him “I don’t understand what you want? Food?”
Vin just sits, watching the chaos ensue, almost lost for words regarding what is going on. A seemingly unprovoked attack on Ginro, a rat being tossed and kicked about that Muir seems to think is Sam's, a giant oak tree materialising with strange creatures speaking in a strange language exiting from a strange mouth-like opening.
Add to that Gewyn charging forwards imploring Elthana, Sam and Ömertyr to stop only to be completely ignored.
He looks up to the ceiling where the tree has punched a hole in the roof, and briefly thinks about leaving all of this behind. After all, his hope that Elthana could talk sense into Sam had turned to ashes, as she was now the instigator of the bedlam bringing an all too eager Sam along for the ride. And it seemed Ömertyr had decided that Sam was calling the shots for him, which was another level of concerning.
He reaches out and grabs the fur of Neferox, who seemed eager to join the fray, but waiting on Vin to decide who the enemy is. But Ginro is now prone, perhaps dead and the strange creatures from the tree haven't proven to be hostile yet. That left Elthana, Sam and Ömertyr.
Elthana had accused Ginro of conspiring with Nivara and Mori, but he can't help but wonder if it was Elthana herself who is compromised. His mind struggles to function though, such is his exhaustion, he just needs time to think.
Elthana looks at Omertyr with disappointment as the giant fails to finish off the unconscious Ginro. She grips the hilt of her new blade, blood dripping off the end and as she raises it to plunge it into the neck of the Dijiin, she waivers..the blade not wanting to press on. Elthana grunts as she pushes against an unseen presence.
"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
The shadow elf screams and collapses on the floor next to Ginro, the blade echoing against the crystal as it falls from her grip. She trembles all over, tears flow fast as she starts to sob and she wraps her arms around Ginro's head, cradling it. "No no no no... please, someone heal this poor man, he did nothing wrong, he did not deserve... oh god... the things I have seen..." Her voice cracks and she buries her face in the blood soaked hair of Ginro.
Gewyn continues forward, his dreadful visage passing before Sam and Elthana as he shoulders past Sam in a rush and kneels beside Ginro. A faint melody rides the air blowing his white hair about, and he places a hand on Ginro's head. Light passes from Gewyn's hand to Ginro, (Healing touch 11 points).
He looks at Elthana next to Ginro, alien-eyes ablaze with strange power, but his features fade to normal as the wind dies down, and he reaches a hand softly to place on her head too. "Shhh shhh, it's okay. We'll make this okay." He turns his head and whispers something to Spyro on his shoulder, who flicks his tail and then starts to fade from sight.
Ginro's eyes flick open and he sits up in shock, he digs his hook hand into the floor where it carves a small circle, in almost an automatic response to the shock and confusion Ginro casts a wind wall of force around himself; Ömertyr, Sam, Scooby, Elthana, and Gewyn are all shunted back from the djiin by 5ft. Ginro then brings himself up to one knee and looks around, "what in the hells is happening with you?" he asks to no one and everyone all at once, whilst digging through his pouches for another vial (+18hp)
Sam has other priorities at the moment than listen to Muir or his rantings and the words of the Loxodon barely even register during the chaos unfolding... Ratatouille hears them, though not understanding Common the meaning of the words are lost to him. All he hears is the sound of home. As such, Ratatouille moves up to Muir and then scrambles up his robe until he finds a pocket to climb into and nestle about within. (I believe it takes Ratatouille about 10 feet to get next to Muir leaving them 10 feet of movement to climb the robe and find a pocket to curl up in. Should be plenty...)
Sam's focus is on Ginro and Elthana. And to a lesser extent the other participants in the chaos, but mostly them. Sam is utterly confused but is about to once again listen to Elthana and try to heal the Djinn but he finds himself suddenly moved and held away from them, kept at bay by an invisible force. Humph. That definitely ended the fighting... Well, overlooking the fact Elthana had already ended the fighting...
Sam does, for the first time, notice the monsters and their repetitive chanting. He quickly turns to the largest one, conveniently next to him now, and in the Orcish it just used Sam says "You... WAIT!" and then turns his attention elsewhere.
Sam looks from Elthano to Ginro, from Ginro to Elthana, and repeats the series of movements several times in quick succession. "Fhat the WUCK?!??!!?" he calls out. Mainly to Elthana but to everyone in general, really. Sam picks up the weapon Elthana had dropped and waggles it in her general direction. "Stop being crazy!" he implores in all earnestness but his tone quickly softens. "I know... Well I can't really know but I know you are going through a lot but girl..." Sam sighs and he doesn't even know how to continue.
"As for you," he says, turning to look at Ginro behind his airy bubble of protection. "Pro tip - this protective wall would have been a lot more effective before you fell all over my maul a bunch of times..."
Scooby, for his part, has even less clue than Sam about what is going on. The mastiff, being a good boy, just dutifully mopes away from Ginro who he takes it is no longer the target and sidles his way through people until he is on the opposite side of the large monster near Sam, setting up more flanking if needed in the future. (40 foot movement speed should be enough to move from current position to new... If not it'll use it's action to dash and make it there...)
"And you!" Sam calls out, turning a glare at Gewyn! There is a long, thick moment that just kind of hangs there for a while before Sam speaks again. "You... will be dealt with later. At least you DID something," Sam says and then glances meaningfully at the Loxodon and the Kid.
"Ok, ok, ok... Everyone is stood down and calm now," Sam calls out to the room in general trying to ease tensions despite currently holding both a maul and Elthana's new sword. "Just a little faux pas of momentary mind sickness or something... No harm done, eh?"
Ömertyr dispels his morning star and takes a knee not knowing what else to do. Not understanding what is going on. He will likely need to have words with Gingo after this but for now, not being privvy to the conversation going on in common he waits, taking heed of the lack of attacking that seems to be going on.
The large monster looks at Sam and questions in orcish "wait?".
The monster which was near Gewyn spots something shiny on the table near to where Elthana was pushed. It's shouts out to its comrade's and lunges at the table biting a chunk out of it an slurping down the amulet of the devout which was there, it then crunches the pieces of the table in it's mouth and shouts again to its comrades who in turn, look around them in glee and begin to bite at the crystal structures that surround them, the large one near Sam takes a hesitant bote of a chunk of the ceiling which had crashed down due tho the tree growth, the one next to Muir bites right through the floor and falls into whatever room is beneath you all.
Muir freaks out over the mouse climbing on him and continues to yell to Sam to stop this madness. The monster directly near him eats through the ground and out of sheer self preservation Muir is able to keep his balance and not plummet down the hole (18 luck roll). "Stop this madness Sam! Control your rat!!" Seeing that Sam has no intention of doing so, he grabs the mouse and drops it down the hole. He drops to his knees trying not to hyperventilate from the second mouse attack. He crawls away towards Vin and stands up using the table, trying to gather his senses
Seeing Elthana fight for control and collapse, filled with remorse, didn't surprise Vin. He was already half way to the conclusion that she was possessed or some such. And when Gewyn manages to bring Ginro back from the jaws of death he breathes a little sigh of relief. The Djinn is understandably confused and nervous.
And then Sam opens his big mouth and tries to pass off fault to those around him again, as if he hadn't played an enormous part in what just happened. Sam attacked Ginro with full force despite not having a clue what was going on, and summoning the magic tree in the small space was just reckless. It could have killed Ginro outright, and possibly others too, and now there were crazy creatures taking chunks out of the furniture and even the floor. Not to mention Sam was tormenting Muir with his rat once again.
Well, this is Sam's mess, no matter how much he deflects and tries to point the blame at others. He glares back at Sam when the glance comes his way, not bothering to hide his contempt.
"You shit the bed, Sam. Time to own up to it and tidy up your mess", he says simply to the half orc.
"Follow that one," Sam says to the large monster when he sees the smaller one drop down to a lower level. "Gold. Gems. Down that hole there!" Sam points specifically to the already created hole and then turns his focus to Elthana.
Dropping down to his knees next to her, Elthana looks Elthana over slowly and cautiously. "You hurt?" he asks. "Are you ok? What... What happened?"
While Sam is looking to see to and care for his teammate he hears Vin and responds. "And you, little boy, did nothing. Nothing at all. Half your team rushed into battle and you sat there like a petulant little brat. Fitting, I guess... At least Gewyn did something," Sam lectures, not taking his eyes off Elthana. "I disagree with what he did but he did something. Muir and you and your little dog, too? Beyond useless. If you can't be bothered to make a stand, one way or another, I guess it only fitting you sit in a corner and suck your thumb."
Scooby, meanwhile, is trying to gently guide the monsters to the hole... Not exactly pushing them in that direction so much as herding them...
Vin shakes his head, knowing this was not the time but in his exhausted state not being able to hold it in any more.
"You are right, Sam, I stayed put and didn't make things worse, I can live with that choice. But one member of the team was not in control of their actions, another rushed in to stop you and you ignored them and the last was distracted by some fresh torment you inflicted on them. But hey, at least you didn't argue about the fact you shit the bed, that's progress", he retorts.
“Child, you abandoned your team and seek to justify it after the fact… If El is your teammate you should have her back… or if you think she’s wrong you step up like Gewyn tried to. Only children sit on the sidelines and let the grown ups sort things out…”
“As for Muir… I’ve not commanded the rat to do a thing since Ömertyr returned them. If Muir can’t sort out his issues with it without becoming a blubbering mess I’m not sure how we can trust him to have our back ever…” Sam explains.
“Now maybe go get some shut eye and maybe grow up a little as you sleep.” Besides the talking, Sam is still by Elthana’s side waiting for an explanation from the only one who may have one. He does think to look over to Ǒmertyr and quickly say, in Giant, “More nonsense yammering on, waiting for her to explain…”
"There is such a thing as too many cooks in the kitchen," Gewyn says, brushing off his clothes and standing up from where he'd been shunted. He offers a hand to Elthana while looking around at the others. "Vin lacked information and thought adding another voice to the mix may have been as likely to increase the chaos as to settle it, so I understand his decision. Sam didn't have information and put his faith in the judgement of Elthana, an established companion, close friend, and capable fighter. I understand his decision. Let's move on, deal with the imminent situation first and debrief further later. Though spoiler alert, I don't wear wear briefs.
"Ginro, are you alright. Whatever just happened, we can be sure it by dint of some interference by Nivara. The first thing I want to do is figure out what we are dealing with. Hu!? Are you there? You can come out now."
Vin can't help but chuckle at the futility of it as Sam once more deflects all responsibility and questions his maturity. Doubtless that is Sam's intention, as with all disagreements he has. Wear the other person down with his twisted version of events and stubborn refusal to admit any wrongdoing until they simply stop bothering.
He is grateful that Gewyn intercedes, there really is no point continuing. He looks across to Muir, who is now leaning against a table close to him. He finally lets go of Neferox's fur and climbs to his feet, approaching the loxodon. Neferox follows, staying right by Vin's side, between him and any threats. In the past she would have leapt violently to Vin's defence in this sort of situation, but there had been a subtle shift in her behaviour recently, as if acknowledging he wants to handle things himself. Not to say she isn't ready to back him.
Vin pats Muir gently on the back, hoping to calm him. "I know it's hard, but try not to let him get to you", he says, as much for his own benefit as Muir's.
Muir nods to Vin and quietly says to him “Thank you Vin. I’ve thought I’ve done well ignoring his jabs and barbs but sicking the mouse on me…..when will it end. I cannot continue on like this. It is bad enough I have to keep one eye opened with him but now home sicks his rat on me….”Muir stands up and looks at Vin placing a hand on his shoulder “You are wise with the things you say about him. He knows what he’s doing and plays the obstinate fool but he is no fool”

Ratatouille squirms in protest, perhaps even pees a little... But is dropped down the hole to where the Monster fell and whatever is below...
Ratatouille then attempts to invert his gravity and fall back up...
Sam sighs.
It is bad enough I have to keep one eye opened with him but now home sicks his rat on me….” Muir stands up and looks at Vin placing a hand on his shoulder “You are wise with the things you say about him. He knows what he’s doing and plays the obstinate fool but he is no fool”
