Antonia Talet has been a follower of Mystra for as long as she can remember. She has lived in a temple of Mystra, along with others, to follow her teachings and always pursue knowledge and the arcane. Her temple is known for being able to produce respected scholars and arcane practitioners that have been able to rediscover knowledge and magic that had been once lost to time. Having been trained for years, Antonia thinks she's ready to finally set out on her own and make her own discoveries.
For those I have sent approvals for thank you for sending those and joining the campaign. Unfortunately we have run out of room. Thanks to all who applied.
For the past several days, the talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who's ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can't be raised----and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they've ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world.
Walking slowly, V'rehk enters the city and looks around for a place to find lodging. The tortle is still getting used to the human customs, but knows that guards usually frown on people sleeping on the streets. Believing that death is part of the natural cycle he doesn't really understand why so many people are scared that resurrections doesn't seem to be an option anymore, but gets that people want to live longer and are uneasy about the transition.
Standing at 5 and a half feet, using a fishing spear as a walking stick and carrying a bag with a few possessions, the tortle attracts more than a few looks. He know that his kind is uncommon among these parts, but he doesn't care and gladly answers questions from children or curious people.
OOC: I'm assuming there is a city where we all are going to meet.
Stepping into the city with a determined gaze, Antonia walks and watches everything with a keen eye. She has read all she can about the curse that is affecting the region but sometimes reading about it isn't enough so she's set out to investigate it for herself. Coming from a temple of divine magic who is also at a loss and unable to explain the grim phenomenon, she admits that she is probably too unexperienced to actually discover something of note but she's willing to try.
She's a human standing at around 5 feet and 5 inches with dark hair and tan skin. She's wearing a long dusty tan coat with accents of blue. Wearing a plain tan shirt and dark pants underneath the coat, she also has a shield on her back. And on her shield and on the coat's breast pocket, there's a symbol of a blue star with eight points that's within a circle. She's not used to the bustling noise and activity of the city after having grown up in a more quiet place, but she pushes on.
A big 7 feet tall bugbear walks into an alley after a halfling, the bugbear is wearing cloths as if it was accustomed to leaving in a big city, most of the garments would help to conceal most of his body hair and face but his voice would barely pass as one from an orc or half orc so people still would usually keep their distance from him.
"I'm sorry this is not personal, just a job" - Says the bugbear
"wait! wait! I can't pay you more but I know about a job you might like, they say its a big one, big money involved and lots of glory for...for you sir, please don't kill me!" - says the halfling.
"another gig? tell me all about"
After a little while the bugbear emerges from the alley mumbling something about a death curse. Back in the alley the halfling is on the floor groaning in pain from what seems to be a broken leg.
Soon an old man gathers all of you guys by the dock and motions to a boat. "Well one way ticket to Chult is on my boat. Go ahead and get on. We will be leaving soon."
The human quickly scans each individual of the group, noting some unique features. Resigning herself with a sigh, she carefully steps out from the dock and onto the boat but is gripping any possible handrail or holding as tight as she can. She turns to the old man. "Thank you, sir. How much for a single passage?" she asks, a hand subtly going to reach for something in her pack.
V'rehk nods at the old man "I've heard that Chult is an interesting place, can you tell me how the weather is in those parts?"
Once upon the boat he turns to Antonia and points to the blue eight pointed star on her "I don't remember seeing that symbol before, is it a god you follow?" he asks with honest curiosity in his voice.
