((So Spare the Dying won't do anything? Because Dvark casts that.))
"ugh, I hate watching people die." he slumps down leaning against the wall, a grim disappointment resting on his face. He sits for a minute staring at the creature before exhaling heavily and standing back up shaking his head. "well what are we looking at here?" He says stepping into the room and glancing around
{{I assume Dvark would do everything he could, including using magic, but the nature of whatever has been done to them just keeps overpowering the spell. As much as you can understand from the Medicine check, you will have to keep casting the cantrip indefinitely to keep them stable or use a more powerful spell to counteract the effect of their slowly corroding flesh. The spell and the Medicine check allow them to get a few words in instead of killing them outright, but in the end, it is not enough to keep them alive.}}
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Drexon, it is quite easy to see that there are pieces of broken crystal still stuck on the larger creature's maul. The pattern of cracks on the cracked crystal also shows that a heavy bludgeoning force comes from a high angle.
As you touch the smaller creature's shoulder. Your mind finds purchase in the creature's mind. You reach out and immediately have to pull back. It feels like loud buzzing static in the creature's mind. You can barely hear, in Deep Speech, "glorytotheemperorglorytotheemperorglorytotheemperor," repeating over, and over, and over without stopping. You feel the veins around your eye tighten as a deep sense of hunger, malice, and need consumes you for a brief moment before you pull your hand back and away from the creature.
When Karm steps into the room where the Ancient came from, it is filled with tablets. There are a dozen tablets and all of them have short messages written in Primordial runes. Reading them one by one, you understand that most of them are communique from other forts to this fort, Bast Fort, about the increasing number of invaders seen a days ride away. It mentions an intercepted enemy communique that tells of a second larger invading army that will be moved from the coast north of Bast Fort; Dvark, you can read this enemy communique as it is written in an older form of Orcish. Hidden among the tablets and velum manuscripts on the tables, there is also a general notice that all personnel of Bast Fort is to be evacuated to the underground system and to activate an apparatus called the Sphere until relief arrives to help break the incoming siege.
Drexon, from a brief glance, you know that the crystal is powerful and highly magical. With the way it is sparking, there is a chance that it can blow. You are not quite sure how to fix it, but you have seen that a Mending can fix a broken large object. However, you are unsure whether such a spell can fix the crystal as the spell can rarely fix a broken magical item. Also, as you get closer, you can see a panel at the base of the crystal. You don't recognize the language that is written on the panel, but it may offer a way to deactivate the cracked crystal.
Drexon takes a long look at the writing on the panel, trying to imprint it into his memory, before he leaves the room to find Karm. When he finds him, he produces a large image of the writing to appear in front of him.
"Don't suppose you can read this?", he asks, feeling Karm is the most likely of them to be able to, then notices he is a little busy. He keeps maintaining the illusion until Karm acknowledges it.
"There are creatures in there who appear to serve an Emperor, and I think they sabotaged the crystal there", he says to anyone who is in earshot, whilst he regards the body of the creature that collapsed whilst he waits.
{{Karm is in the middle of casting comprehend languages. would he be able to quickly glance at the symbols to see if he recognizes them without interrupting the ritual? If not he will be asocial for a moment and continue the spell}}
Karm, you can read the symbol even without the spell. It is in Primordial. There are 5 symbols that Drexon shows. They refer to the words: Power, Increase, Decrease, Level, and Stall.
{{All of the tablets in the room are written in Primordial, so for Karm the spell is not really necessary. However, yes, I can allow you to impart that brief knowledge without interrupting the ritual.}}
{{As a note, the body of the Ancient dissipates into air, leaving only a faint impression of purple blood and dust on the floor.}}
Eremoz follows Drexon back to Karm. He begins looking over some of the tablets to see if any of the markings match the vision he had. “So, before that thing died it gave me a vision… “
Eremoz, you look through the tablets to find the symbols that you have been shown, but so far you cannot see anything resembling your vision except on the final notice that told the personnel of Bast Fort to evacuate. You recognize the meaning of only one symbol: The Sphere. Asking Karm, he confirms that is true.
Thinking back, many of the symbols and runes you have been shown is quite familiar. They are runes that you and your childhood friend often used and talked about in passing when you were sharing tales of the might of giantkins and beastkins from the Third Age. You are still quite unsure of many of the other unknown runes and symbols, but you get the feeling that all of them are symbols of power that can be used even by someone that is not proficient in the magical arts like yourself. You just have to make sense of it first.

Drexon moves further into the room, whispering some words of guidance in Deep Speech as he moves.
He then looks at the cracked crystal, trying to determine if it can be fixed, and whether the creatures maul was the cause of the damage.
Finally he gets closer to the smaller creature and tries once more to reach out to it’s mind, touching it’s shoulder to see if that will help.
”Are you ok? What happened here?”.

Karm starts to translate as the words leave the creatures mouth, not knowing but heavily assuming that they wouldn‘t understand otherwise.

Eremoz takes a deep breath. “Oh man. That was weird.”
He pokes his head into the room. “Im going to check on the other two.” Eremoz heads back to Cob.
Dvark nods to Eremos "I think we can handle this one now. Yell if anything jumps you."
turning back to Karm, Dvark starts leafing through the orcish journal somewhat absentmindedly while chatting with Karm.
"how long have you been married Karm?"
Oh, im not married. But i like to be dramatic every now and then. Do you have someone?

After he realizes that it could be cool to understand languages Karm begins to (ritually) cast comprehend languages during the next 10 minutes.
He sits down in the room he just investigated.

Cob flits along to catch up with the others. The strangeness of this place has kept him very quiet so far.
Back from vacation tomorrow night - will be able to jump back in and actually contribute. Sorry for the quiet Cob this week.
