I would really have liked to see this secretary as soon as possible, but this works." He would then start to walk away from the table and with his usual dry tone say, "I'm gonna go speak to the EPD and see what else they've gathered."Lucky pauses in his tracks and hesitantly faces the group. As he starts to speak, his voice becomes barely audible as he says, "If any of you want to join me, feel free."
It appears the old gnome may have dozed off for a second. When Lucky stands up he awakens with a startle. "Ahem,"He clears his throat, "I'll join you Lucky. The EPD and I have a bit of an understanding. I've never been too impressed with their work, sloppy and unimaginative in most cases."He stands up very quickly scans the paperwork on the table. "I would suggest we then quickly interview any of the eye witnesses. Starting with Kidra, this Ambershadow's death appears to be the least well documented. We need alot more details on this one before we assume it is related. Since we are a small army of investigators perhaps we divide and conquer?" Fizz suggests splitting up as he has not read the dnd manual and has no concept of the dangers of splitting the party ;)

Should still be open. And please, don't disturb those that're sleeping, just for the sake of an interview. Wouldn't hurt to check, though---Kidra's something of a night owl." He takes a few steps towards the exit of the inn, and turns to y'all to deliver his last piece of advice. "Oh, and don't go sneakin' into the houses of the victims and such. Fizz pops up and turns for the door. He stops short and whirls around, "OK then if we are going to split up it would be most efficient if had a place to exchange information when we are done. How about we meet back here. Exchange notes and then retire for the evening? Please be thorough with your investigation. I don't want to waste time going back tomorrow."

As Lucky and Fizz walk down to the EDP, Lucky's eyes seem to constantly be looking around him. His constant blank and tired expression seems to have a glint of paranoia within it. To try to calm himself, he focuses on the tune that Fizz is humming.

Hemlock tags along with the group visiting Kidra, "it's a little morbid, but I do hope we can find something near the victim's home, given that Miss Ambershadow seem to have the least written record..."
Once they arrive at the Kidra's home, Hemlock pulls out his quill again, holding it out in front of his face at eye level as if he's about to write. He closes his eyes momentarily and swipes the quill across in a quick stroke. Shimmering ink bleeds out of the quill in a horizontal line in front of his eyes, holding it's shape in the air, and soon dissipates as if blown away by the wind. Hemlock opens his eyes again, something shimmers in his irises, and he gives the surrounding a quick scan.
(ooc: long description for a detect magic lol. He thinks this is more than poisoning so he's looking for signs of magic and just getting an idea of what place Elibyn lived in. Perception if needed: 6)
You all walk outside The Lazy Peacock. It's dark out. The few lampposts lining the streets are illuminated, moths swarming around their glass covers restlessly. You are the only people out on the street. Despite the silence of the immediate area, you can hear the excited buzz of the carnival coming from the easternmost side of town. It's about a five-to-ten minutes' walk from where you stand.
The two cohorts depart, but not before one of the locals in the group gives Hemlock, Diaelle, Krix, and Echo directions to Kidra's home. A few minutes of walking along the dirt path that leads to her house, and you seem to have arrived. A single wooden signpost staked in front of the house simply reads, "Kidra's" in scratchy writing. Kidra's house is poorly cared for---the paint on the outside of the country home is peeling, and the planks on the porch have curled up. The only thing on the property that looks like it's tended to is the corn field that stands to the side. The lights are on inside the house, but there is no one inside or out on the porch.
Suddenly, a piercing, blood-curdling scream comes from inside the corn fields.
Hemlock:
You don't see anything magical with Detect Magic at that moment. As far as surroundings go it's relatively barren. In front of the house next to Kidra's, there is a single line of police tape surrounding it. That must be Elibyn's house.
(and I love the description for detect magic. It's so cool!)
Diaelle:
Dhasfa's voice pipes up as you arrive at the house. "When we were told that this was a 'countryside' town, I was hoping for something more... put together. This," if he had a visible body in that moment, he would be gesturing to the house with a certain degree of disgust, "is not put together."
Looking around reveals that the EPD building resides across the street from the inn. Warm light bleeds out onto the street through blinds covering the windows. Upon entering the building, Lucky, Shel'lok and Fizz are all greeted by a young hill dwarf at the reception desk. "Hey Fizz, Shel'lock, and company. Can I help you with anything?" He asks with a smile.
Are you a local?
You both recognize the dwarf. His name is Barryl, but most call him Barry. Young, scrappy, and new to the police force, he's determined to do justice in the small ways he can---however inexperienced he might seem.

I think someone might be in trouble...!" And he rushes towards where he heard the scream, tripping over himself a little when he reaches the field.
"Ah, right, of course." Barryl, scooting his chair back to a row of file cabinets, sifts through a few papers that sit on the tops of the cabinets. "Hmm," the sound of papers flipping sharply fills the room, "Well it looks like Sergeant Yul and his team are on that case. He's out for the night, along with the rest of the group, so if y'all want to speak to then directly you're gonna have to wait until tomorrow. He gets in early tomorrow morning, and you can catch him then." He stands up and walks over to the desk again, fiddling with the collar of his uniform shirt. "Ah- w-" Before Hemlock can say anything, the figure is gone.
He turns back to Echo, "there was someone, " he gestures a bit frantically of what he managed to see, a small figure, "they were screaming but they ran past and I couldn't talk to them... I think we should find them in case they hurt themself. I'll see if I can find them, from somewhere higher."
A gust of wind blows past, and Hemlock stretches his arm out a little, catching the breeze. A moment later, he begins to hover, as if lifted by the wind, and he flies towards the direction he saw the small figure run. Perception to find them if needed: 6.
