The elf's face twists into something resembling a smile. "I was hoping for your assistance," he says. "In fact--"

A rock skitters across the alley. The elf spins around, drawing a dagger from its sheath. Two orcs stand blocking their exit, a patch resembling a white rose over their hearts.

"A hostile bunch?" I ask as I cast catapult at the orc on the left

perhaps i should have warned them that those orcs were heading there way, but on the other hand id like to see their combat skill, plus if i had warned them they'd be alert to my presence, lets see how this plays out

i think these guys are looking for trouble i say as a unsheath my hammer of thunderbolts

"What do you think?" one of the orcs growls, cracking his knuckles. 

The other chuckles as they both draw a shortsword. "We've been looking for you for quite some time, Elas Ralonan."

Elas runs toward the orcs, swiftly and silently, and stabs toward them with his dagger.

Attack: 5 Damage: 4

(Orc armor class is 13, hit points 15)

Elas misses the orcs, nearly stumbling into the wall of the alley. One of the orcs swings his shortsword toward Elas.

Attack: 16 Damage: 6

Elas manages to dodge out of the way, retreating back toward the party

"Hey, my incredibly large metal friend, are you swinging for the one on the left or the right?"

I then cast Hex on the right Orc (bonus action, concentration for an hour, target takes +1d6 necro dmg, and has dis on str checks), and cast eldritch blast at him

You miss the right orc, who roars in triumph, swinging his shortsword clumsily.

The attack, though clumsy, does its job, slamming into Laz's metal body.
