Lore frowns, sending to Kess, "Try to catch it up...can you hear it's wings beating? If you can't find it by any means then take note of where you are so we can come back, then have a look around and come back. But if you do find it, keep following. We're going to rest on the hill." He tries for an encouraging mental tone. "You have my token; if you aren't back in an hour, I will use it to update you."

Then he nods to Cat, "Good idea."

"i can. . .but it's faint, like when you are underwater and you try to hear people talking on the surface. i will do my best!" that was the last thing she responds. . . and then she goes quiet

Cathern leads the group to the mount, and it is big enough to create a small camp. you can see almost all of the graveyards around, even Ambrose, who you see kicking the skull of a fallen skeleton, before resuming patrol. 

after a few minutes, Lore feels the connection between him and Kess being severed

As the move up the hill he pauses, looking in the direction that he guesses Kess might be. "Their familiar is unusual," he says with a frown. "It has become invisible. At least we now know it's not just an animated bird caught up in the spell. She sings to follow."

Using his other link to her ((10 Miles, no reply)) he says, "Do what you can. Perhaps it also smells and loses maggots from time to time..."

Cat shivers "Perhaps the bird was actually him!?" she thinks, maybe this is above their paygrade.

(btw from the the spell description: As an action, you can temporarily dismiss the familiar to a pocket dimension. As an action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in any unoccupied space within 30 feet of you.)

"Whoever is that necromancer is well versatile in the arts of dark magic.I can only think that we ll need more information about him and what we are dealing with before we proceed. We have thwarted his plans for now  and that has bought us some time"

“Sure has. Let’s get some more ground covered as quickly as possible. More active we are and more often we are seen on the grounds, the more of a thorn we will be in his side. He will have to deal with us at some point.”

( ready for the shortrest? if you have something to do during the rest, do now. once everyone confirms i shall resume the scene

Lore will rest, waiting for Kess to return (or not). If Kess returns early, we will need to talk.

"Drux we're only here for ten days. Making ourselves seen, would only temporarily thwart this creature from trying to carry out his plans. We, need to catch and stop him while in the act. Maybe we could convince Ambrose to stop patrolling, and get this monster to think that we, prematurely thought we've won. Our animal friends would keep us informed of any foul movements. We could do this."  

Cat will keep watch while resting, eating a little bit while resting "Seems like I haven't ate all day" Though I'm sure she ate breakfast.

Piers finds a comfortable spot and sits down.He prepares himself for whatever comes next

after a few hours, lore feels the mindlink reconnecting, with a very scared-sounding kess responding in his mind "holy titania what the hell was that! they almost caught me if it wasn't for my invisibility-" She continues to babble to herself. you can see the first rays of light aready appearing trough the horizon, with the sky slowly getting brighter

Unaware of the approaching Kess, Cat yawns and says to the group. "Looks like this nights patrol is almost over. I think we've been pretty productive so far. What do you guys think?"

She turns to Lore. "Hows Kess have you heard from her? You know, I might take up woodworking and make her a small replica of the Manor to live in. You know, her own place. Maybe across from your room."

Lore is staring into the middle distance as Cat speaks, "Yes, yes. A moment..." he says, continuing to stare to the northeast.

"Are you OK? What happened?" he asks Kess through the connection, his tone laden with concern. To save her the effort of flying further, and to reduce the risk of her being followed directly to them, he instantly dismisses her and recalls her to his side, looking for signs of injury.

(Sounds like the woman in galaxy quest "Please hold.")

“What…what happened?” Drux asks, concern on his face.

With a quick glance at Drux, Calithor says, "She found something. Not sure what. Finding out now." As he says this, Kess appears on front of Lore and starts relating her tale to all...

kess yelps in surprise as she suddently appears beside lore "it- it was disgusting! i think i found their hideout. . . the crow didn't turn invisile, there's literally some kind of barrier here! i don't know, when i entered it it was like i coudn't breath, everything went black. . and when i returned to my senses i was on, some kind of big temple? i went there to explore for a bit. . . you know to see if i could see an entrance. . . i found it, but then, when i looked down. . .the undead, theye where . . . they where looking at my direction! i got scared and then i ran out! i DESPISE necromancy, why does this magic has to be. . .so macabre and creepy?!" she says, shivering a bit

Lore looks across to Kess as she hovers in clear agitation. "Such is the nature of the world we live in. But that is also why we are all here...to end such corruption." He nods briskly and looks around at his companions, "...and it sounds like you found what we needed. I'm sorry I asked you do risk yourself so but, please, tell us what you learned -- where are they, what are they doing? Then...we can go back to the Inn and plan, and you can take a well-deserved rest, set up your room and find a place for your plants."

He then glances in Cat's direction, "Cat also offered to help with your room. Perhaps we could put a window in the roof that looks out at the sky, one that can be opened so that you can always find fresh air."

He smiles encouragingly at her, as he listens to the details, then stands and looks at the others. "We have much to do. Shall we return to the Inn?"

" Thankyou Kess and Lore you guys are great. We, need to Inform Ambrose on what we've found before we go back to the Manor. But, He may want to go in alone though, so I'm not sure." She says intentionally leaving the last open for rebuttal 

She thinks for a second "And we better get some fine wine so we can sleep in peace." She yawns
