Gilded blocks the cloaked figure! The would be "Merchant" curses under his breath.
"You messed up! Screw this I'm outta here!"
The cloaked figure seems eager to fight but this shady man does not, as he turns heel and begins to run off.
@Kocino
"I hope so.. Sadly our poor town only has a few knights and a little over a dozen guards... Many have left long ago. That being said many outsiders come here for an easy mark.. Crime is not as low as I'd like it to be honestly. Though better than it once it's still got a long way to go.
Corvus nods to Vex then listen's to Gwyn. "What kind of magic was Simon supposed to Manifest? Is it a bloodline? Or was he meant to get it though other means?"
Drezmir takes note of Gwen's reaction at his question about Simon. He is slightly confused...All he wanted to know was if she trusted him or not--is there something more to this that she isn't comfortable explaining?
Turning to Vex, he says, "Ah, yes..." he proceeds to point out each member of their large group, telling Vex each of their names before looking back to Gwen, who begins talking about Simon. When she finishes, he pauses for a moment.
Clearing his throat, he says, "Well... I do think that investigating the Jet brothers might be our best option right now...if everyone else agrees. As for Simon..." He glances at Gwen, who seems to be avoiding his gaze for some reason... "I think its pretty clear that we might not be able to trust him. Either he's got something to do with this, or someone is trying really hard to frame him. However, as of now, it is to early to make assumptions."
When she mentions the town being not so low on crime rates he smiles and says, "Well, maybe we'll have to do something about that. Or, perhaps we already are..."
Vex listens carefully before speaking to Drez: “Drez, I do believe from what Gwyn has said that battling the Jet Brothers is the better option for our skill level. But whichever one you decide to choose, I will fight alongside you. I will not leave my comrades behind.”
Gilded swings his sword at the original attacker. "How dare you try to rob a follower of Iroas. Surrender and face judgement by the law or die in this alley!" He roars at the top of his lungs.
(Ooc: again I don't want to kill him, but subdue if possible)
Shilow is able to slash the thief! He spins around backing up panting slightly in blood.
"It's been awhile since I've had a good fight! Surrender? And be a prisoner in this piss poor town? Not a chance! I'm taking you're stuff and that's that!"
He twirled his blade in a flourish of two strikes toward Shilow!
@Tavern: Gwen looks to Corvus as she opens her lips slowly exhaling a soft breath before she began to explain.
"It was a gift brought to the family by Dawn. The Divine dragon who's watched over Radiance for many years. He should have gotten it by a certain age, the process is very painful and he was... Sickly as a young child. The process however just.. Never came.
Gwen looks to Drezmir with a look of.. Inquiry and maybe a tinge of guilt. Her eyes light up a bit as he mentions Simon being framed but it doesn't last very long. She looked as if she wanted to add something but had decided not to in the end.
8 (Her Insight roll on him, if he wants to hide his feelings he can roll Deception back ^^)
Gwen's nods in agreement with the plans of them taking on the Jet brothers. Sloden than mention's him bringing up Simon being her brother. She let's out a soft sigh. She examines Sloden for a moment. Perhaps she was accessing how much she could trust this man? She almost recoils in anger by his incredibly direct approach for someone she had barely known. Though composure wins out for her she finally begins to speak.
"Simon, he is indeed my brother. The gift is of the Dawn Blades, I tried to bear that gift for him.. But I wasn't talented with magic. If it's true.. If he isn't framed and he's behind this? I suppose he will face justice. In prison or.. Well...
She trails off clenching her fist tightly with a closed expression.
OOC So some world Info that is common Knowledge for Radiance. Out of all the Divine Beast Dawn is missing. All of the gods watch over their nations. Dawn however has not, many believe it's mortal form was killed by a group of greedy adventurers seeking power. Though Clerics and Paladins can still pray and use power under the church of Dawn so many believe whether it's mortal form is dead or alive it is still alive in some essence. Also sorry if their expressions and stuff are "lacking" in clues I save the really big info for insight checks and stuff ^^
Sloden nods empathetically. "You have a good heart, as much as it may feel unbearable. Perhaps we can assist in obtaining a surrender if his hold is weakened. The brothers first. Then the giant. We'll need a plan for that one."
He hoists his pack over his shoulders and readies to leave to find these brother bandits.
Gilded keeps the attack against the thief, and keeps his voice loud. He is a paladin, but know he is inexperienced and may be in over his head.
He pushes forward and slashes again with his longsword. He yells "Dieing without honor is not going to be better than prison, but die you will before I let you take anything from me. Throw down your weapons and leave!"
‘“We should look for Gilded, as he is one of us. I saw a few alleyways, and I presume he went down one of those.” Vex knew that Gilded would probably be in trouble, but that was a suspicion.
Corvus nods to what Gwyn says. “Well, this is indeed Interesting. I’m sure we can get to the bottom of this.” He stands quickly, causing his cloak to swing back over his wings. As he does this, a glint of metal flashes in the long folds of his right sleeve. “Now, I for one would like to meet these Jet brothers. Are we ready?”
Drez nods to Vex, "Honestly, I've been wanting to take on the brothers since I saw the notice on the board. I would have gone to them first if everyone else had been ready for that. So I'm perfectly fine with leaving the hill giant for another day."
He notices Gwen's expression rise and fall as he mentions the possibility of her brother being framed. Realizing that he totally overlooked the fact that he had been talking about her brother he says, "As I said before, it is to early to make assumptions. From what you've said, it sounds like Simon has had a rough childhood. With poor health and heavy expectations placed on him, perhaps he is simply looking for a way to prove himself. Even if he is behind this, it could be a matter of doing the wrong things for what he thinks are the right reasons." He pauses, his own expression falling slightly as he realizes that Simon had a lot in common with himself. He had been weak as a child, not sickly...but still. He had barely survived gaining his own powers...but he'd still gained them. Simon had grown up assuming he would someday gain a great gift, only to find out that he never would. That had to be difficult.
(He's actually trying to be transparent here... he hadn't caught on to the fact that Simon was Gwen's brother until Sloden pointed it out, so he was genuinely confused as to why Gwen responded with the reaction she gave. He is concerned that he might have offended her, or been a bit to blunt--having assumed this conversation was purely about business and not family issues. After hearing her story, he's reflecting on the parallels between himself and Simon, and trying to give her some hope that her brother might still be the good person she knew him as.)
After a moment of thought, he adds, "Again, there is much we still do not know. For now, I think it is best if we move forward with taking on the Jet brothers..." He hesitates before saying, "Have you been able to contact your brother? I would like to speak to him if that would be possible. I know I'm an outsider, but..." He trails off, as if unsure of how to continue.
Jess tries to reassure Gwen as the party’s momentum starts to get going on leaving.
“Don’t worry, Gwen, we’ll get as much evidence as we can and we will consult you before we make any moves that deal with Simon. We’re all in this together.”
”Good luck, I will be off to find Gilded, then get with the rest of the group. Farewell!” Vex waves goodbye and leaves to find Gilded. He hears the distinct sound of Gilded fighting. “Don’t worry Gilded! I’m coming!” Vex grabs his glaive, ready to fight, but he hasn’t joined in just yet. OOC: How do I roll initiative using dnd beyond?
@Gilded:
"Yes.. Here is... You're sword Paladin."
Though Gilded had tried his best to be cautious a man behind him was able to catch him off guard! (Surprise attack)

Sloden is lost in thought until giving a frank look to the lady knight.
"Plain speech will resolve this matter more quickly, I believe. Simon is your brother, it seems. You are the other noble."
"What is your intention here? He has committed crimes. Terrible murder and robbery. What would you wish happen to Simon?"

Jess says to no one in particular,
“Whew this is heavy stuff. Maybe I’m in the right place after all…”
Then a bit more loudly, directed at the others,
“I reckon it’s time to get on with things. Taverns have many ears and we should move quickly before word gets out more than it might already have.”
She does a quick head count. “Seems we are missing someone… Gilded?”
