OOC: okay. I wasn’t sure. I’ve never used splint before. In that case Drez can’t use it. He could use the dagger or the breastplate though. But he’s going to let everyone else take their pick first. Looting isn’t exactly his favorite thing to do.
“Thanks, but someone else can keep it. As much as I’d like better armor, such heavy equipment doesn’t exactly match my fighting style.”
He excepts the gold, hesitantly, he stares at it for a moment before pocketing it.
Jess grins inwardly at Corvus' attraction to shiny things. While things are getting set out and examined, and plans being made, she will quietly be to one side, casting detect magic as a ritual. Once cast, she will examine all the items.
Whether magical or no, she will pick up the dagger and say, "I'd like this, if that's alright."
She also eyes the studded leather armor. Is it made of metal?
As Kocino looks around with razor sharp eyes he does find a little ways outside the cave in the meadow. A plant that he knows (nature) could go great with what he has now. A side and some spices? All he'd need is some meat and maybe something of his own touch to make the perfect meal! Now who was he making this meal for? Who could honestly say? The studded leather has metal studs but it doesn't need them to be effective. Also the dagger has a slight magical enchantment to it (+1 and bypasses physical resistances)
Gwen stands beside Gilded.
"I'll stand beside Gilded and stand watch as well!"
Whoever had stood Guard in front of the cave had a boring first half hour. (Anyone resting with Trance would be fully rested. For the full elven kinds resting up) Those guarding can see two figures wearing robes, purple robes with a symbol of a fox on both of them. They appear to have daggers by their side as well. Two humans who appear to be in their thirties with rather worn faces and fowl expressions.
OOC: Yup Splint is heavy armor one grade below Plate armor actually ^^ 17 AC so pretty good stuff!
Those who guard will not gain rest benefits! But be able to keep better eye out for threats! Those resting feel free to hit the short rest button ^^ I know Gilded is on guard! Who else will be?
if Corvus wants to hide pocketing an extra 2 gold. Roll either Deception or Sleight of hand up to you.
If he rolls Deception everyone can roll Insight against it.
If he rolls Sleight of Hand everyone roll Perception instead.
[ Jess takes a short rest, uses "Natural Recovery" to get 1 spell slot back, uses 1 hit die, rolled in game log, heals for 5+2, her detect magic spell subsided, and she pocketed the dagger ]
Drezmir will also stand guard, he joins Gilded and Gwen silently.
When he sees the two figures outside, he says slowly, "Gwen, do you recognize that fox emblem? Any idea who those...less than pleasant looking people are?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gwen looks at the fox emblem and shakes her head.
"I don't know.. But it looks sorta demonic don't you think?"
17 Gwyn Perception roll for Corvus's thing stash earlier.
As Drez looks closer to Emblem he can fill a rush of memory for a moment. That mark.. Looks strangely similar. At least to Drez it had. The people were scouting around trying to find something.. Or someone?
(are we taking a short or long rest? Plan before had been long rest, then head to the manor tonight, but I'm not sure what's happening based on context)
After the battle, Sloden looks upset. He stands away, by himself for a bit, holding his hammer's haft, with the head down on the ground. He starts moving it up and down, hitting the head into the dirt and muttering to himself for a solid ten minutes before he slows and eventually stops. He rejoins the group at the fringe.
Seeing no one claim the breast plate, Sloden stares at it for another few minutes, and let's out a heavy sigh, walking towards it. He starts stripping off his plain linen clergy frock, and the scale mail beneath.
Bare chested, it's plain for everyone to see angry, dark veins across his arms and chest. They look less like life supporting blood vessels, and more like leeches at a feast.
He splashes some water from a canteen across his face, chest, arms and pours a bit down his back.
When Gwyn questions him about the marks: "When I was... Some time ago, I made poor choices. My blessing and burden are these marks. I'm quite alright. I hope you'll understand that I don't prefer to show them. A last bit of vanity in me, perhaps."He smiles a bit wanly, and starts putting his clothes and the breastplate on.
(If anyone wants it more, feel free, and I'll just play it off as Sloden attempting to bathe and sooth the tainted flesh)
Vex then looks over the rest of the loot, but is hesitant to take any of it. His mind is still filled with overwhelming thoughts, a bigger burden to his subconscious. What does the rest of the group think about him now? What if they figure out who exactly his contractor is? Has he done something to upset them? All of those questions and more could not be forgotten in his brain
OOC: At any time, anywhere, someone could roll insight to see that Vex’s mind isn’t doing that well. I would not roll deception myself, because I don’t really deny it, so I would say a DC of 13? And it is completely optional.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gilded is able to perceive that they are heading to the cave. He can't make sense of the symbol however. After Sloden washes water on himself and relaxes the marks begin to fade but not completely. There was still some residual corruption. Gwyn looks to Sloden (After he dresses)
"That armor is a good fit for you!"
Vex stumbles in the wagon just as Drez had before he looks to Corvus but he doesn't seem to notice anything off of his friend/ally. Gwyn however? She had noticed but decided to say nothing. She would try to hide the expression that would give away her knowing look.
15 Deception (Can roll insight again Corvus)
Would she tell the group later? Or was there a point to really? To cause a fight? Before saving the town? Was that wise? Whatever the case she knew to be more careful around Corvus now.
Back to the guard outside. Gwyn was pondering what had happened in the cave for a moment but.. She didn't have time to think about that.
"So how do you guys wanna handle this?"
OOC Anyone that rolls a 7 or higher in stealth can avoid detection from these guys but they are heading to the cave.
Also it's a short rest ^^
But anyone who fights here won't get the full hour to rest.
As it's only been 30 minutes. Unless they have Trance.
Also the Splintmail is actually better than Chainmail Gilded ^^ Chainmail is 16AC.
SplintMail is 17.
You'd have one more AC ^^
Also i may wait for Drez to respond before I post again as one part did pertain to him here.
(I already clicked rest because you said we could, but could retcon my character easily enough if needed)
Jess will step further into a shadowy recess of the cave and will listen closely for now, hoping those watching the entrance will hail the newcomers, perhaps stall them from entering, and find out what their business is. She hopes an encounter with these mysterious folk will end peacefully. She still needs to rest.
Gilded sees the strangers in the purple robes walk around, looking for something. While he is not exactly hiding, he is just standing and watching. he is not going to draw attention to himself or the others, but he will not let them get past him. When they see him, he figures they will let it be known. He whispers to Gwen. "If they head this way, go wake up the others. Drez and I will meet them and while you get the team ready."
OOC: okay. I wasn’t sure. I’ve never used splint before. In that case Drez can’t use it. He could use the dagger or the breastplate though. But he’s going to let everyone else take their pick first. Looting isn’t exactly his favorite thing to do.

Corvus shrugs when Drezmir rejects the armor, "Well, someone else can have it then." He tosses it with the rest of the loot.
"It's yours," He says to Jess, "First come first serve."
Sleight of Hand: 12
After that, he finds a nice place to sit down and rest up.
Drezmir will also stand guard, he joins Gilded and Gwen silently.
When he sees the two figures outside, he says slowly, "Gwen, do you recognize that fox emblem? Any idea who those...less than pleasant looking people are?"
Jess perception check 11 she doesn’t notice anything fishy about the gold, probably because she’s not very concerned about it.
Gwen looks at the fox emblem and shakes her head.
"I don't know.. But it looks sorta demonic don't you think?"

The Perception roll of the men searching.
Have the two newcomers noticed the group in the cave?
Jess would be in favor of hailing them and learning more about them.
Gilded sees Frez turn down the armor and goes to look at it.
"If no one would like this, it is a bit better than what I have on. What I have is pretty good chain mail if anyone would like it instead."
Gilded Swaps out his armor and goes to stand watch.
Perception for Corvus: 10
As he listens to Gwen and Drez, he studies the symbol. History check: 3

Paladin - warforged - orange
Perception for Corvus: 5

Perception for that:7
Vex then looks over the rest of the loot, but is hesitant to take any of it. His mind is still filled with overwhelming thoughts, a bigger burden to his subconscious. As long as Jess doesn't get in the fight she can keep the short rest ^^
When I got splint mail and exchange for my chain, I didn't see a difference in my AC? I do now, so if no one wants it, I will definitely take it.
I will edit my response above to have swapped them.. And I will offer my chain mail to anyone that may want it... see in edit above^^
