Grim replaces his maul in it's hook at his back, wipes a bead of sweat from his temple, and moves to join the others. His curly white beard is disheveled from the activity, so he begins to absentmindedly brush is fingers through to straighten it.
"Aye, different. I've seen entire armies clash in pitch darkness, shoulder to shoulder in tunnels so tight you can 'ardly breath. But a fight where the ground beneath your feat isn't steady...that'll take some getting used to."
Shivers run through the Tri-Kreen's body as he shakes his head back and forth, mandibles clattering together as he tries to speak out to the others, but then remembers they won't understand him. Connecting to everyone's mind, they'll hear him ask as he raises his hand, "So...did we pass?"
Karlis comes to his senses, observes that his sword is bloodless, and sheathes it. "I've already seen that once before," he mutters to himself. "I didn't need to go through that a second time."
There are a few clicks, and Trinni lifts the helmet off of her tiny head to reveal her dark-brown face and smiling brown eyes. The poofs of hair sitting on the two sides of her head make more sense now. She gives her helmet a little toss in the air and catches it with both gloved hands. "I think we did great!" he says, almost chuckling. "Did you see Smoke hit that one in the neck? And what about Ka's magic missile? Pew! Pew! Pew!" She laughs. "I gotta figure that one out," she grins at the bug.
With grace, Smoke places her bow back on her back. She then clear her fur from any dust or rough patches, as for her: appearance is everything. "Thanks, Trinni. Years of training. Maybe we should bet on who is killing most next time?". She then turns towards the officer "I'd say we had the upper hand here, no? Too bad we were not present at this battle, we might have changed the course of history"
Tyrila's pointed ears almost visibly perk up at the suggestion of wagering. "I wouldn't be opposed to a side bet or two. I mean we are going to be sailors right? Whoever heard of one who didn't like to make a little more coin?"
The Half-Elven cleric of Tymora grins at the thought.
It s a small area inside the tower and near the long stairs that lead to their rooms and classes.
A large hyppo like creature smiles a toothy grin when they all settle in.
"Gotta sai yu di goo" he says in a heavily accented common. "I happy to hav'u in me group".
He beems.
"Me nam be Bomass and I teach yu ships and space. But first yu gotto tack sigil and coth of trainee."
He points toward a table where you can see that clothes and insignia have been prepared. You all have one of your size and peculiar shapes in a soft dark green fabric.
The rest of the day passes rather slowly and boringly as you all go through the admiration applications and intense questioning.
As you find yourself in your dorm you finally have time to take stock of the people you are going to train with.
( This might be a good time to give a description of your character.)
You have been told that role call is in 9 hours and that you better get some shut eye .
The copper-skinned eladrin pulled off his new uniform, removed his armor and shoes, and collapsed into his bunk, his red hair strewn over his pillow.
"That was a long day. That play-fight brought back some bad memories, and the rest of it went slower than the turn of the seasons. What did you all make of it?"
Grim takes a seat on the edge of his bed, taking out an old iron comb and using it to go through his poofy white beard and sideburns. You almost think he's going to manage to straighten it all, only for it to spring back into it's characteristic curls a few moments later.
"Given I spent the first hundred-twenty years of me life underground...I felt like a fish ou' of water. But thas also what I was lookin for, so I canna complain too much. I jus hope not every battle we face involves quite so much spinning." He grins. "The lot of ye handled yerselves well though. Good te know ye'll have my back push-come-shove. Not used te that if I'm bein honest."
After having gotten dressed in the new trainee clothes, Ka'Truu appeared a tad more refined. The Thri-Kreen was not too different from the core of his species, with the only deviations being his near-golden caprice and body, contrasting well with his now green clothes and turquoise eyes. his muscle-less face is hard to read but makes up for it with larger gestures, and general motions from his mandibles and antennas.
As the group entered their newly assigned dorm, Ka would situate himself in the backmost part of the dorm, pulling out various tools and laying them at the foot of his bed. Once it was set down, he began to curl up atop his bed with his stuff. A mental dismissal would resonate in everyone's mind as he wished them goodnight, "Resting now...was nice to work with you all. Good night."
Tyrila also changes into her clothes, wrinkling her nose at the less than fashionable garb. Suitably clad she perches on the side of her bed, and idly swing her legs, clearly not quite ready to sleep.
She is a twenty something half elven woman, pretty and on the shorter side of average with a brown complexion, dark curly hair (with the tips of her ears poking through) and amber coloured eyes. She has a charming, mischievous smile and twinkle in her eyes.
"I think this is going to be a fun experience and providing we don't end up killing each other in training and Lady Luck is with us I can see us going far and getting rich."
Karlis hadn't thought about the pay. Money could buy armor, mithril instead of the crude steel that he wore. But mithril was a rare treasure, and he doubted he would make that much.
"A little bit of money would be nice. But I won't resort to piracy to get it. I don't think that's what our employer has in mind, though. Pirates seldom wear uniforms."
He stretched. The bed was a comfort at the end of the day, simple as it was. He tried and failed to recall any great space battles that the singers celebrated. Perhaps that would be his story: the warrior of the astral sky.
Smoke reach her closet and changes into more relax clothes for the evening. From her storage, she retrieve a set of dice and shows it to Tyrila. "I pray Lady Luck as well. I am glad to meet someone from her clergy. What do you say, we play some dices and have small drink before falling in our beds ?". She reach for a nice bottle of liquor. In a brief second, Smoke gets her claws out and in a swift mouvement opens up the bottle. She sits down and place a silver on the table and with a smile and her gesture she welcomes Tyrila to sit.
Playing dice would be an Int check ? 7 (Smoke is proficient with dice)

Hmm, 9 hours? Karlis could trance, but there was plenty of time to do so.
"Hey, got room for a third?" The eladrin rolled out of his bunk and placed a silver on the table beside Smoke's.
Trinni, who had immediately begun tinkering with her armor as soon as the group entered the living quarters, grunts as she pulls an arm loose from the chest piece. "Anyone have any paint?" she asks, not looking up. "If we're all supposed to wear green, I need to add a little to my armor, or I'm going to look like a stowaway when I'm suited up." She scratches her head, looks hard at the arm, and then slams it on the floor twice. *bang* *bang* With the second bang, the tip of one finger begins to glow with a white light. She pulls the finger close to her tiny, brown face and grins. "There you are," she says warmly. She twists the finger back and forth, causing the light to brighten and dim. With a final twist, the light goes out. She picks up a tiny tool from the floor and sticks the pointy end into one of the finger's crevasses. "Anyone know what the schedule for tomorrow is?" she asks, still not looking up. It's hard to know whether she's actually expecting her questions to be answered.

No sooner had he laid down his silver than he heard the gnome, clanking and banging her armor behind him. Karlis looked over his shoulder at her, seemingly lost in her own little world.
"You wear it over your armor, like a tabard or something. Didn't you see what I did?"
Seeing as how most of the group wasn't going to sleep, Ka'Truu sat back up and began to rifle through his belongings until he grasped his spellbook. He'd sit at the edge of his bunk and begin reading over his spells, choosing to start studying and going through his magics.
Trinni's head snaps up, and she blinks blankly at Karlis. Finally, a big grin brightens her face. "You mean it will fit over my armor?" She stands up and pulls out the sides of the uniform she threw on over her regular clothes. It looks a bit like she's wearing a green tent. "So that's why it's so big on me! I figured they just didn't have gnome sizes." She smiles at the eladrin again, who's turned back to the game. Realizing for the first time the group is playing dice, she walks over and peeks over the edge of the table to watch the little cubes bounce around on the tabletop.
As sleep finally claims even the more resilient of you you all think back of your arrival at the academy.
You arrived this morning on Belligerence, a chartered galley out of Waterdeep, which picked up passengers and crew in the Moonshae Isles, Baldur’s Gate, Candlekeep, and Port Nyanzaru. You’ve come to seek fortune and glory at Spelljammer Academy: a secret enclave of spellcasters and swords-for-hire on the mysterious isle of Nimbral. Graduates from the academy join the Spelljammer Fleet, a magical navy sworn to protect Toril and explore worlds far beyond.
The academy is carved into a two-thousand-foot-high column of rock that juts up from the cliffs of the island’s west coast, its multiple levels connected by stairs, ramps, and magical lifts. After docking in a sea cave at the base of the column, you marched to the Simulations Deck midway up the academy spire. Your mettle has been tested, and now it’s time to settle in!
Bomass large feet wake you all far before he burst through the doors.
His toothy grin still plastered on his face he ends each of you a simple sheet of paper.
"We already too carre of first two. The rest of the packs be arriving later. There some money in it so you buy things from stores." He nods to himself as if going through a mental checklist.
"You need to do the tasks before tonight and together. Those of you will spells capacity can go to the Nexus for basic training when its all done or while the others go collect their weapons." More nods.
"As candidates you access the red and blue doors. Not others "
At the end of the sheet is a warning.
The giff seems happy with himself.
"Get some food in ya an get to it. Show us you follow orders and are savvy enough to get it on your own. But don't stray."
He gives one last nod before leaving.
For all
Your new uniforms are sturdier and red and you are given a bleu cap. The green one is classier but it is for visitors or casual dress code.
Also you will be given 50gp to spend at stores. You can take the players handbook price.
"Took care of the first two"...surely, the creature meant the first two items on the list? Karlis stood and stretched deep within the unusual sea-tower. "Before tonight and together" meant he wanted them to act as a team. Spells "capacity"...he had always assumed he would learn more spells later in life, but he could already cast one now. So, he should go to that, he thought. A plan formed in his head.
"So, if we all go to the sky dock after we eat, do you think the rest of the packs will be here when we finish with the inspection?"
