A wooden sign is nailed to a post nearby. It reads: “DANGER! Plant monsters AND zombies! Turn back now!”

Well this looks inviting

Cowering in the shadow of an old tree is a crumbled stone cottage with no roof. Weeds are rampant here.

Tyrus examines the sign closely, to determine how recently it was placed.

To Tyrus: Many of Thundertree’s buildings have crumbled in the years since the town was abandoned, even as nature threatens to swallow what remains. However, this sign appears to have been painted in the last year or so.

To Johnson: Two twig blights hide among the weeds that flank the cottage’s open doorway.  They do not attack you yet.  They are just sitting and watching.

Across the pathway are more dwellings.  Wind and weather have done their work here, and little remains of these houses or their former contents.

These ruined, side-by-side cottages look as though they might have been the homes of prosperous shopkeepers or well-off farmers in their time. All that remains are collapsed walls and piles of debris. Several young trees have grown up in the midst of the ruins.

Drawing my Morningstar and shield I approach the two cottages. “We are looking for a man named Reidoth.”

As Ian approaches the house and calls out, 6 twig blights come out of the flushes to attack him.  3 are close enough, and 3 are not.

TB1 Attack: 7 Damage: 4

TB2 Attack: 8 Damage: 4

TB3 Attack: 12 Damage: 4

All three miss. 

Akaas sees Ian get attacked and runs over to assist with a swing of his staff and a kick.

Two-Hand "Quarterstaff" Attack: 17; Damage: 9 bludgeoning damage

"Unarmed Strike" Attack: 22; Damage: 6 bludgeoning damage

Both attacks hit and destroy two of the twig blights.

Ian attacks the Twig blight closest.

and uses horde breaker attack on the other closest

Boghadair fires arrows at the furthest  twig blight.

arafiel casts Firebolt at one of the blights

All six blights destroyed.  The two blights at the other cottage attack Johnson from behind.

johnson curses his luck under his breath as he pulls his rapier and stabs at one of the creatures

then he Disengages (bonus action) and puts some distance between himself and the creatures.

Johnson misses his attack and moves away from the walking switch.

Thagakh then Tyrus to attack.
