Arafiel seems to recall that they are very large but unaligned. A monstrous cross between giant owl and bear, an owlbear’s reputation for ferocity and aggression makes it one of the most feared predators of the wild.
Everyone also notices Thagakh’s attempt to sway the group towards Neverwinter.
“I do have something that I want to buy in Neverwinter but I can wait. Ultimately I just want to prove myself in battle so if the group wants to add a couple days to our trip, maybe that is better than healing up on our butts in Phandelver.” He says to Thagakh. “I was just pointing out that it was not that close to us at the moment.”
"i would like to do some shopping at Neverwinter as well, when we have the opportunity to resupply, especially if it's nearby." Boghadair says.
"As for the owlbear, it sounds like it's more wild than pet. Since we've killed off its caretakers, the least we could do is release the poor beastie into the wild again. Leaving it locked up in a room to die of starvation is not kind at all. That I will not do. "
"Thagakh will help you put the meat trail but someone have to stay behind to free the owlbear and lead it. Thagakh is already on the brink of unconsciousness. Thagakh doesn't want to risk dying from an owlbear chasing me to the exit."

"Open the door and try to stay out of its way, but get behind me and my shield if it starts to attack," Tyrus says, ready to place himself at the front line.
OOC: Readying a Dodge, but only if the owlbear attacks. If it does not, Tyrus will show no aggression towards it.
Ooc: Which way does the door open? Into the owlbear's room, or out into the hallway. If it's the latter, is there room to hide behind the door and keep it pulled to the wall?
As Boghadair raises the bar that is securing this heavily reinforced door, some scratching sounds can be heard on the ground inside the very dark room. As he tosses a piece of Bugbear into the room it is instantly devoured by the beast. The Owlbear moves towards the door to inspect each piece of meat as it works its way across the room with the dead Hobgoblins and wolf. Seeming to prefer to eat Bugbear, the monster sniffs the air and paws at the dead wolf but continues to eat pieces of Krol until it reaches the curtain open wide to the outside. With a turn of its massive head and a quick look at Boghadair and Tyrus, it lets out an eardrum bruising screech "rrrzziikkttaaak!!!!" and then bounds off into the forest.

Boghadair starts to breathe again. "Well, that worked out better than I thought it would. Thanks for putting up with my daft ideas, guys. Now let's go see if the bugbear was lying about that treasure chest! "
The upper floors of this tower have collapsed to create a hollow silo at least thirty feet high, and the upper reaches of the room are lost in shadows. Dust, rubble, and broken glass cover the floor, and old worktables and bookshelves lie strewn to the south.
All that remains of the tower’s second floor is a jagged ledge, upon which sits a battered wooden chest. The chest is hard to see from the floor. The chest is unlocked and contains 90 ep, 120 gp, a potion of healing, aspell scroll of silence, and a spell scroll of revivify.
*ehem* "Neverwinter first." *ehem*
"Did you hear that? Thagakh just heard someone say 'Neverwinter first'. Definitely did not came from Thagakh."
The half-orc tries to cover his suggestion with his not-so-obvious coughing.

“Thagakh... I think Neverwinter is two days travel in the opposite direction. What do you need there? Maybe they have it in Phandelver.”
Thagakh looks Ian with a deadpan face for half a minute before replying to him.
"We had a wagon full of precious jewels we can't sell at Phandalin. Also, a lot of you eagerly wanted to go to Neverwinter for magic items and stuff.
Even Thagakh remembers it clearly."
“I do have something that I want to buy in Neverwinter but I can wait. "Yes, how exactly does a wild beast 'guard' something? It must be pretty well-trained or perhaps magically compelled to do so," Tyrus wonders.

"We have a lot of meat lying here if you want to give some."
Thagakh sweeps his arms across the room to show the dead bugbears and its companions.
"Just so you know, owl eat their prey whole and bears chews it piece by piece. I don't know how you'll serve the meat to an owlbear."
"Maybe we can just leave a trail of meat that leads outside, open the bugbear's door and get the hell out of the way fast?"
"Thagakh will help you put the meat trail but someone have to stay behind to free the owlbear and lead it. Thagakh is already on the brink of unconsciousness. Thagakh doesn't want to risk dying from an owlbear chasing me to the exit."
"I'll open the door for the owlbear. It's my hare-brained idea, I don't want anybody else to get hurt. " Boghadair says.

Investigation 9
If there are any torches, I will grab one and help Boghadair. If not I will go to Krol’s room and make a torch with the table leg and fire.
