Roland looked at the rope and grimaced--the climb wouldn't be a problem, but it was going to be an awkward dealing with that manhole cover. "Hold on a minute Twig," he called out as he grabbed the rope and began to climb.

Once at the top, he suggested, "Let's try on the count of three," and then readied to push on the cover.

First Athletics Roll: 18
2nd Athletics Roll: 9 (presuming Twig helps)

(Could he stand on Zhernon's shoulders or something or is it too far up?)

(Too high up. Maybe if you make a human tower with Zhernon, Tilsu, and Roland. The Manhole cover DC would change to 17)

The manhole cover started moving a bit, but settles back into place as Roland could not quite get it open

"It's no use! I'm to tiny!" Twig moans. Then she looks down at the others, "Do you think you two could do anything? This isn't working!"

Tilsu gives it a try but fails as well. "Does anyone have a crowbar?"

Athletics: 3 and 11, assuming Twig would help.

"Yes! I have one!" Twig pulls out an old banged up and semi-rusty crowbar and hands it to Tilsu.

(What do you do next?)

(Would using the crowbar lower the dc?)

(Yes to DC 17)

Tilsu tries once more.

Athletics: 6 and 6

She groans in frustration and heads down the rope. She offers the crow bar to Roland.

Before Tilsu pulls the crowbar out of the manhole, Twig says, "Here, let's try this!" and grabs the bar with both hands and falls off the ladder putting her full weight onto the bar.

Athletics: 10 with help 11

"Welp, that didn't work...." she says as she hangs there. "Maybe.... Zhernon could grab my legs and pull?"

Zhernon sighs a little. "Can try. Bad metal plate!" If Twig hands Zhernon will try and grab her and pull down. (Athletics 12)

"Hold on tight, Twig," said Roland, trying to sound playful but with a hint of worry in his voice. "We'll try again!" The farmboy grabbed onto Zhernon and pulled, adding his weight to the other two.

"It's working! IT'S WORKING!" Twig laughs as the other two pull on her legs, while she grips the bar as tightly as she can.

The manhole cover pops out and you can finally see the stars of the night sky above you.

Twig does not stop laughing as the manhole pops up, crowbar to slides out, and she starts to fall down onto Roland and Zhernon.

(I was getting worried we were going to be stuck forever lol. Zhernon was very annoyed at the situation :D)

Roland dropped the few feet he was dangling, then tried to catch Twig before she fell onto Zhernon. (Athletics Check: 18)

Roland easily catches the light weighted Twig.

Roland set the young elf down then looked up through the manhole toward the night sky, an almost juvenile grin of satisfaction on his face.

"Guess we better get going while we can," he said to the others, waving them toward the ladder.
