Dazlyn claps his hands together, “That’s great to hear lass. Norbus and I will keep an eye out here in case anythin’ trys to come out or if anyone shows up.” Norbus and Dazlyn follow you all back behind the two crumbling walls and sit back down around a small campfire they had going. They throw a few parts of their rations into a pot hanging over the fire and wave at you all as you head up the steps to the temple entrance. You hear Norbus yell, “Good luck to ye lot.” Followed by Dazlyn, “Don’t go dyin’ in there.”
When you get closer to the temple you can see the cloaked dwarven statues more clearly and see the evil grins on their weathered faces. Passing through the ten-foot-high doorway, you enter a 10x10 room that would have been the temple’s foyer. As you pass the set of opened set of double doors, you can see in the fading sunlight sets of spikes hammered into the ground to hold the entrance doors open and the next set of doors as well. On the north wall of the foyer is another, smaller door that is held open by spikes with only rubble inside of the room. What would you all like to do, and what is the groups marching order? Lilniana is up front and one of the first inside of the temple.

As they walk deeper into the temple Sara studies the dwarven statues trying to recall any information she may know about their significance or the god they were created for.Religion: 18
Sara, you don’t recall anything about the statues in particular, other than they might just simply be for decoration. Most of their features are too worn down to tell if they might have been any prominent figures of the religion. You do recall that the dwarves only have a small number of evil deities, two on which they share with the duergar. With this temple being carved above ground you are confident that it once belonged to Abbathor, the dwarven god of greed. You also recall that offerings to Abbathor were done during the lunar eclipses and comprised of blood sacrifices and gemstones.

((Gymlynn will be second in the marching order. I don't want to assume Gymlynn knows anything about these Dwarven gods because of her origins - but she rolled a 10 on the history check and 17 religion check.))
Lilniana looks at the statues and grimaces. "Well they certainly give you that friendly welcome feeling, don't they? And I hope someone brought some lights because I don't see too well in the dark. I think I have a few candles though, but they aren't very good for big explorations really."

Shae will bring up the rear. She holds her quarterstaff out in front of her as she enters, scanning the corners and shadows for signs of the mud or other threats.
Gymlynn knows about as much as Sara does and can confirm her knowledge if she decides to share.
Shae, dust gets kicked up from everyone walking into the foyer and some gets into your eyes making them water. Through the watery fog you don’t currently see any mud or threats; and it takes a minute to clear your eyes up.
Those with darkvision can see that past the second set of double doors is a larger room with four pillars in the center and what could be an alter on the far side. All of you can see that the interior of the temple does not have any light source, other than what is filtering in through the doors from the outside.

Sara look to the the others and points to her pupilless golden eyes that almost seem to glow in the increasing darkness, "I am sorry, that is not something I am used to accommodating for. Perhaps one of you has a torch or lamp? Sometimes the best solutions can be mundane in nature."
"I know of the spell, but it is too advanced for me at this point. I agree, a torch may be in order," Shae concurs, making a mental note to investigate some magical means of lighting or darkvision.
"All I have are candles. They'll give a little light but not much. Someone else have a torch? I don't mind carrying it if I'm going in first, or else I'll light one of my candles and hope for the best. There wouldn't be anything hiding in the dark, right?" Lilniana chuckled a bit.
Lilniana is going to use her Emboldening Bond on Gymlynn and Shae.
For reference:
As an action, you choose up to 2 willing creatures within 30 ft. of you, creating a magical bond among them for 10 minutes or until you use this feature again. While any bonded creature is within 30 ft. of another, once per turn, they can roll a d4 and add it to an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw they make.
Gymlynn, you take a few steps into the larger room and can see that it is about 35 feet at its longest and about 40 feet at its widest. You can see between the pillars the alter is set back in an alcove and also that the far right pillar has some rubble on one side. Being back in the dark and somewhat underground, your dwarven senses kick in and one of the things you notice is the sound of wood knocking around in your backpack as you adjust the weight around. As your eyes scan the room a movement right above the alter catches you. Focusing your attention, you see a large, porous, sludge like mass undulating in place. With your darkvision, the shade of gray of this mass is not much lighter than the shade of the ceiling that it rests on. How far inside the next room are you going?
Gymlynn and Shae, you both feel a bit more confident in yourselves as Lilniana emboldens your spirits.
((OOC: Feel free to describe your character’s abilities, spells, attacks, or skills used.))

Well Lilniana can't see in the dark and so she'll light a candle since no one else seems to have a torch or anything and she doesn't have darkvision. Then she'll just stand at the door and wait.

"If anyone is able to cast darkvision for those who cannot see, now would be the time before we move ahead."
Keph looks at Gymlynn with barely-masked surprise. "Surely that magic is too powerful for any of us to muster?"
Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)

"Then those who cannot see stay behind those that do." Gymlynn decides to walk ahead of the others a bit.

Lilniana, you light up a candle and you feel some comfort being able to see about ten feet out.
Okay, nothing in the room changes. The mass appears to not notice your presence, Gymlynn.
