If required, here is Mood's stealth: 5
Oho, today's second plot twist... this is turning out to be quite the interesting endeavour. The hexblood's fingers tingle with arcane sparks - a hidden flame, suddenly roused - but noticing this, he immediately snuffs them. No irrationality now, if you please.
He will command Rattatosk to stir.
OOC: crap, that was a critical stealth for 23... but editing the post messed it up.
OOC Guess you're stuck with 10 stealth! JK I'll believe ya on it xD DnD Beyond can be funny. I can post when I get home from work tomorrow while you guys think of a plan of engagement ^^
"Don't get me wrong, sometimes fighting's the only choice. But you lose once, you end up bein' dead, so I'd rather be picky."
From then he dismissed the matter, focusing on the path, judging the time as not being the best to discuss life views with mercs he had met the very day.
From where we are now
The Half-Orc had trusted his companions who were evidenly better at sneaking than he was scouting, actually approving that kind of choice. His forehead furrows when Eric makes his succint report.
"Dammit, this is why I asked that you tell us afore anythin' else if you got enemies already." He grunts.
However Eclaire, who did not seem to be the kind used to fake emotions - or had been doing a great job at it until then - looked genuinely taken aback. He seems ready to say something else but his gaze turns towards Mood. Did he just see some light ? He gives the man a curious look but drops the matter. Goramar softly nods at Eric's suggestion.
"I'd say sound plan ... gotta warn you I ain't the best at moving in silence though, so I could be a liability there."
He gestures at his attire, not to mention all the equipment he has gathered, just to make his point.
Tala who is still hidden near the group of men with Ellaria looks back to see a discussion centered around Eclaire who seems surprised. She whispers low and soft to Ellaria.
"Ellaria... I think somehow there might be some confusion here but listen to me ok? These people work for a dangerous person, they are willing to burn innocent people's livelihood and hurt them to get what they want. If we fight them we can't let any of them get away."

Ellaria looks intently at Tala, before glancing back slightly to Eclaire and the others. She returns her focus to Tala, gives a small nod, and whispers, "We won't."

Insight check (on Tala, is she the one they are looking for?): 4
If Tala rolls 5 or higher on a deception check the insight 4 won't yield much for Ellaria.
I''l wait and see if you guys go for surprise round or go for dagger to the throat diplomacy (Advantage first attack for the ones that were able to stealth.)
But if you guys decide to surprise attack and talk to them afterwards we can go ahead and start ^^
OOC So if Tala isn't hiding her expressions than I'd say it's fair Ellaria pieces together they could be here for Tala instead of Eclaire. Nothing for certain but she knows it's possible.
- Us the silent ones can sneak on them, while the rest of you do the talking. Ok? - Eric says to the half-orc.
He goes back to Tala and Ellaria, followed by Mood. Whispering among them, they all agree on a target for each one and to attack at the count of four.
Eric holds up his hand, silently begins lowering fingers and with the last one, the four shadows begin their attack. The rogue jumps on one of the mercenaries' back pulling his hair and quickly puts a dagger to his throat, muttering:
- Make any kind of movement and I'll slice your throat.
Tala will take a position with her bow trained on one of the archers at a close range where its clear she will shoot at any movement. She gives him a warning shake of her head as if to say don’t even think about it.
Eclaire had shockingly kept up with those sneaky enough to get close. Eclaire had never succeeded at such a tactful task in her entire life but she was glad to be able to help. Putting her blade behind the man with a greatsword.
"Halt"
The elven archer see's Tala draw her bow, the man with his sword and shield is held at knife point by Eric. He gives a chuckle as he looks around to see Tala holding her bow up.
"Ahh, this isn't the first time I've been held at knifepoint, last guy who did this ended up in a ditch though. What about this though, you give us Tala and you don't make an enemy of the Vorpal Swords. Say you do kill us, which.. Honestly I doubt but I'm willing to be open minded. More Vorpal Swords will come looking for her.. Is she really worth it? Just hand her over and we all walk away a little happier. I'll even split some of the gold she stole.. What was it Tala? 1500 gold? Heh.. Or did she not tell you?"
Eclaire looked a bit surprised, her expressionless face turning to that of shock. "Tala.. A thief?"
"Tala wouldn't steal, I don't believe you. She's a good and kind person."
OOC Initiative so far
Eclaire: 7
Eric: 9
Tala: 7
Goramar/Ram: 13
Ellaria: 20
Enemies spotted
3 Human men heavy armor axe, greatsword, longsword and shield
2 elven males, longbows and studded leather armor.
Tala spits on the ground. A look of pure disgust on her face.
”You mean the money you got by offering “protection” to the people in Greybrook? How when they didn’t pay their houses mysterious caught fire? Or perhaps it was their loved ones ending up with broken bones? No the hells take the Vorpal Swords!”
"Ya know Tala, the boss may be a hard bastard but he had a soft spot for ya. Took you in and offered you work, this is how you repay him though? Running off with heaps of gold?"
The man stops smiling as he grips his weapons (Eric won't lose advantage first hit.) He glared at Eric.
"It was funny at first but in the vorpal swords, blood is paid with Blood. If you won't offer Tala than it looks like you've made yourself a new enemy friend.
Eric doesn't seem to recall much about the Vorpal swords. They could be small timers with a big mouth for all he could know at this moment.
"Last chance, hand the little thief over or things are about to get outta hand."
OOC As for insight on Tala I'll let Tala hide her emotions with deception or let herself be an open book facial expression wise.
Eclaire won't roll on Tala though she'll believe her.

She gives Ellaria a pleading look.
Eclaire had looked to Goramar/Ram with confusion in her eyes by his statement.
"But I don't remember upsetting anyone like these guys. I'm not good at sneaking around myself..."
OOC
If you guys go for a stealth check if half of you pass I'll say you guys get a surprise round.
Eclaire's stealth
13
Ram failed
Mood has also failed
Tala Passes
Eric passes
Elaria passes
So even if Eclaire fails half of you passing you can take the surprise.
But those were sneakier will start the fight closer as they are leading the ambush successfully.
Eclaire Initiative

(If you guys ambush, still can be diplomatic if you wish. But you guys are ready we can start the ambush if that is what everyone prefers)
Eric Initiative: 9
OOC
Eclaire barely passed the check lol I didn't expect her to honestly

Tala is not trying to hide anything from Ellaria instead honestly appealing to her for help to stop the men so no deception roll

"Wait... Tala?", Eric is surprised, but doesn't loosen his grip on the guy that seems to be the leader at all.
- Well, that guy wasn't me - he says and presses his dagger, making a little cut that causes a few drops of blood to run down the man's neck.
Meanwhile, he listens to everyone talking.

As for insight on Tala I'll let Tala hide her emotions with deception or let herself be an open book facial expression wise.
Eclaire won't roll on Tala though she'll believe her.
Tala is making no attempts to hide anything here.
She does allow herself a quick glance at her companions to try and see what they are feeling.
OOC
Would Tala roll insight on looking toward the group?
