Tana shakes her head from where she stands at the back of the group.
"Pray that it is a creature, an unhostile one at that. We'd likely have more luck communicating with the likes of that sort as opposed to the undead." She huffs, tipping her head to peer around the others.
Famh does find a crack to peer through most of the way down the door towards the base but from what she can see there is some pale light behind the door.....moonlight perhaps....and a large humped...possibly furred...shape huffing and snorting as it rams into the rear walls of the space beyond over and over as if trying to go somewhere but unable to acheive its goal....

After hearing Tana's statement and Famh's description of the situation, Cainneach inquires, "Would it hurt to try and contact it, Tana, now that you might have a look at the beast? On the one hand, you might be able to calm it down and learn something of its purpose. On the other, we may not want to draw attention to ourselves. Either way, it's probably best if Ori's ready with his club in case it turns around and starts ramming this door."
"Ready to serve some room service if talking in its heade doesn't scare it back to death." Ori stands by the door ready to attempt to open it when directed. Other hand on the club which is resting on his shoulder.

Famh holds up her hand for attention as she turns away from her vantage point a moment. "You can see it after a fashion, Tana, if you look through this crack. There's a pale light within that I hope is the true moon's light shining down through a chink in the roof; and a great humped shape within like a bull. It may have heard us coming; anyhow, I think something's scared it. It's trying to batter the back wall down with its head and get away." She finds another crack so Tana, Cainneach or Thatch can see if they recognize any more about the creature by peeking through the first; and begins murmuring through the first in the soothing tones she would have used to calm a panicked sheep. She begins low, and very gradually increases her volume until she's gotten the beast's attention.

.......Famh absolutely accomplishes getting the animals attention.....not whether her murmuring was a little too close to a traumatic memory from the animals childhood who is to say.....but it immediately gives up on trying to get out the other way and launches itself at the door.
The door is strong, it is tough.......it is immediately blown to kindling by 2,500 lbs of distressed adult male sealion looking for the source of the sound....
Cainneach manages to yank Famh out of the way and Ori does the same for Tana......
Looking past the enormous animal you can see a small storeroom, with a collapsed ceiling and chunks of the plaza above littering the ground.

"Mhac na galla!!!," Famh screams as the exploding splinters of wood fly about her, seeming for one irrational moment to chase her as Cainneach's strong arms fight to pull her away from them. She had only seen a sea lion once before in her life, from the high cliffs of gneiss and granite south of Brymstone late one evening as she was struggling her weary way south to Igham. In the first shock of its sudden charge, she does not even associate that dim and tiny memory as being of the same order of thing this onrushing wall of wet obsidian. For so it seems in that moment of shock. It takes her a moment to even realize this is a natural beast at all and not the sudden appearance of another stone demon as black as the last one was pale. Then her breath catches at the sheer size of the creature, and she gasps out hoarsely, "What the bloody hell is that?!" From the expression that crossed Cainneach's face at her first exclamation in Thulish, you suspect it might translate into even less ladylike language than that.

Cainneach grabs Famh around the waist and pulls her roughly to him and out of the way of the onrushing semi-aquatic behemoth, then places a hand over her mouth to silence her apparently haunting sea lion call. He then hisses to Tana, "How about now with the calming of that beast, whatever the hell it is!" He is hoping that between his ranger talents, Tana's innate connection to beasts of all types, Thatch's skill with horses, Salt's ... Salt-ness, and Famh's shepherd experience, they can come up with some way to wrangle this poor creature back to wherever it's supposed to be. Oh, and Ori being big and strong and intimidating can't hurt either!

Thatch leaps backwards as the door explodes, trying to remain on his feet as he avoids the rampaging creature. Growing up far from the coast, Thatch has no idea what this beast is, but as he sees Cainneach avoid attacking the creature, his own hand falls away from the hilt of his gladius. Instead, he holds it out and tries to help Cainneach calm the agitated beast, talking in the same soothing tones he used with Shuck back in the stables "Easy there big fellow, no one wants to hurt you." He wants to buy time for Tana to try to connect with it. He throws a sideways look at Cainneach "That is not a dog. What is it, has anyone seen anything like it before?"
"Watch it!" Hearing the creature change course and come towards the groups location he reaches for Tana with his free hand. Grabbing her arm he reels her back towards him and holding her close to himself, he turns his back to the doorway putting himself between her and the door. As the door splinters away, he let's go of her arm and gives her a wink. "I think I still owe you one." As he turns to face whatever creature stands before them he grips the club with both hand ready to swing it down at this new comer.
As the sight of the creature registers. Ori stops his swing and begins to laugh. "Well ain't you a big fella, way bigger then that lass that I used to work with. Give the bugger some space, probably just scared of falling down in here, might bite is all." Trying to think what he remembered about the seal that was trained to perform with the show. He didn't really interact much with the creature outside of seeing it train and perform a bit. The handler was nice enough but wasn't involved with Ori's act so he didn't really know much about them. "Could feed the crew for a few nights at that size." The seal was less then half the size of this thing, Ori wasn't really sure if it was another seal or not, same shape and features but different color patterns and much different size.
Fergus, who had been sticking the the rear of the group, raised an arm to avoid getting splinters to the face. Panicking, he prepares to attack but holds back after the last few incidents and waits to see what the others do. Lifting his quarterstaff, he extends it in an attempt to ward off the creature should it approach. He takes a peak behind at the storeroom for answers.

"Now that's some fine work, Thatch! Hopefully it's enough that Tana can get in that thing's head and see about leading it out of here. Looks like it crashed right through ceiling! Must have made it's way up with the high tide. Wish I knew what this thing is, but it sounds like Ori's at least seen something like it. Hey Ori, what are we dealing with here?"Cainneach is a little surprised that out of all the members of the party, their big barbarian would be the one to have crossed paths with something at least resembling the beast they were presently confronted with. Then again, from the stories Cainneach had heard Ori tell to the crowds he seemed to naturally attract, it sounded like Ori had led a very, very interesting life!
The massive pinniped let out an enormous roar as it suddenly found itself surrounded by bipeds that echoed throughout the halls.
Now that the animal was fully revealed both Famh and Cainneach realised they had seen similar before, Famh only from a distance from the clifftops but Cainneach dredged up a memory of a loch his people had visited once in the lowlands and three strange animals like sheep sized otters that had been sunning themselves on its shores.....though they were far, far smaller and less mobile than this behemoth. Ori plunged his memory of the juvenile animal that had performed in the circus but it was difficult to determine if this was even the same breed of beast. Salt stayed utterly silent though positioned himself in front of Cainneach.
Indeed it was Thatch with no knowledge whatsever of the creature who managed to catch its attention and calm it somewhat, for some reason the horse calming techniques he had mastered resonated with the scarred and muscular old warrior of the ocean, its eyes were still wide and its mouth open bearing canines the size of Oris hands...
Things were silent suddenly except for the bellows like huffing of its breath.........
Leaping back with a slight yelp, Tana ducks her head as the door splinters. She peers up gratefully at Ori's save, before scrambling to try and make eye contact with the huge creature.
As Thatch seems to calm the beast some, Tana also holds up her hands in a show of peace – reaching out carefully with her mind.
Almeric has travelled far and wide, from Clyster to Ferromaine to Crescentium, and has seen many sea creatures whilst aboard long and dull voyages. The seals he has seen previously were probably half the size though and he is very grateful to Thatch and Tana for their animal handling skills. This unexpected sea beast was a timely reminder that their stay in this dark temple could be comning to a close.
"Easy there big fella." Ori slowly gives the sea lion some space, one hand on the club, other out stretched towards it. "I knew a lad that trained one once, to do tricks and perform. They used to travel in one of those traveling shows. Of course that one was just a itty bitty thing compared to this whopper. Generally same shape and build if memory serves." Guessing Tana is trying to her whole talk to animals thing, he tries to position himself to not be between them but close enough he could step between them if need be.
