Khessa immediately realizes something is wrong as she sees Dawn's blade of pure light vanish... and she realizes that the Beholder must have turned its anti-magic eye on them. This, among other things, makes it completely impossible for her to do anything to eliminate the drow wizard, who, with his summoning, is the only one who managed to endanger the beholder.
'The beholder will soon turn its anti-magic eye against the demon and the wizard...' the blonde arcane warrior reflects 'So the summoning spell that keeps the demon here will end, plus the wizard will be in trouble. I'd better run straight north, so as soon as the Beholder changes direction of the anti-magic cone I'll be outside it and I can use Dawn against the warriors - who will also be disturbed by the aura of sunlight'.
"Desist this senseless attack immediately and explain what's wrong with you!" the tall adventuress intimates to the drow, while she runs towards them - but considering their senseless attack she is afraid that they are unable to reason by now; no more able than the other victims of the gem already encountered, at least.
[[ OOC: Khessa, unable to use magic from distance, just Dashes straight north, moving for a total of 60'. She keeps wielding Dawn, so next round, if the beholder changes the orientation of his anti-magic cone, Dawn's light should impose Disadvantage on drow's attacks ]]
Traydark's first blast smashes wide of the mage but the second hits them making them growl in pain!
Khessa rushes off toward the battle ready to engage as soon as possible!
The gargoyle leaps of its perch, swooping down to make short work of Ghazrim with a hard bite and rip from its claw! (15 and 16 to hit for 11 points of damage total) It then flies over to the beholder!
(Round 2)
The drow assassin evades the thug next to them and leaps at the beholder scoring a critical hit against them, leaving a nasty gash along their side darkened with poison! (Nat 20 for 60 points of damage between their sword and the poison damage)
"Katryle" nods as she hears Lulu's comment. She holds her position and takes aim at the Drow Assassin who seems to be causing a lot of damage. (Steady Aim - Bonus Action; Shortbow Attack: 29 - crit; Damage: 12 + 24 Sneak Attack)
Horkas moves another 25' feet closer to the fray, moving to the west to tray and get out of the beholder's anti-magic gaze. Since he probably won't fully escape it, he takes his crossbow and also targets the drow assassin. (8to hit - not enough!)
Katryl manages to snipe at the assassin from distance, hitting them in the back of the shoulder! They flick their head around to see where the shot came from and snarl!
Horkas moves around for better positioning but can't quite get on target! (still in the antimagic zone)
Ghazrim stabs at the assassin as well! (hit for 6 piercing damage!)
The beholder keeps the antimagic zone in place but flicks one eye at the shadow demon before it glows and a moment later the demon goes after the mage instead!
Thugs: B and C turn attention to drow warrior A and beat on them hard with their maces! (16 damage between the two of them!) D and F begin working on the other drow warrior, defending their turf with maces as well! (15 damage between the two of them!)
Drow mage blasts the beholder with a bolt of lightning, severely damaging the aberration! (31 points of lightning damage!)
The shadow demon, under the sway of the beholder though swings its shadowy claw at the mage and in that strange turn of events, kills the mage (with 10 points of damage) and then vanishes as well being a summoned creature!
"My Beholder-friend, ye'll have to move that antimagic beam of yers if I'm to heal ye or yer comrades," Lulu calls ahead as she continues toward the fray.
((Round 2 Movement: 30ft (which I think gets her up to most of them right? Right around Graxxt? Bonus Action: Can she try to quickly triage the wounded/fallen of the Zhents with a Medicine check to see who she might be able to get back up again? Like dead-dead, needs revivify vs is just unconscious/rolling death saves? If so, Medicine: 19, but no worries if not! Action: Will holdAura of Vitality to cast on Ghazrim when able to, either by being out of range of the antimagic zone with her movement this turn or if the beholder moves it next round))
Khessa shakes her head in disbelief, seeing that the beholder, instead of pointing the anti-magic cone... at those who use magic, has kept it aimed at those who are fighting with weapons. Okay, this way he managed to finish off the drow wizard... but not without getting struck by one of his lightning bolts first!
However, the blonde arcane warrior adapts her strategy: she wields her big but ordinary Maul, runs until she reaches the drow assassin, who in her opinion remains the greatest threat, and tries to break his bones with a well-aimed blow at height of the pelvis.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Movement to get in melee with the drow assassin, approaching the target from the opposite side of beholder, in order to get flanking; then she uses her Action to attack ]]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The noble drow moves closer as needed to get within 90 feet of the drow assassin before swiftly placing his hex on him, then unleashing two purple beams of eldritch crackling force against him.
The brutal attack of the tall adventuress hits the drow assassin, who was too focused on his target to pay proper attention to her. The sound of a few bones breaking is gratifying to Khessa's ears...
[[ OOC: Did she kill him? If yes, go on; else she might use Action Surge to try closign the matter with him and avoid the beholder getting murdered... ]]
Khessa sees that the tough assassin, in spite of all the hits ftom her, Katryl and Traydark, still stands; she tries to finish him off with a desperate returning blow.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses Action Surge for a last attack on the assassin ]]
The assassin, still dazed from the first blow of the blonde arcane warrior, recives the second one square in the chest. More sounds of bones cracking let the tall adventuress think that a few ribs gave way... and the dead body of the assassin which collapses like a sack of rags confirms it.
"And stay down!" the tall adventuress tells the dead opponent. Then to the beholder: "I think I and my other friends who are saving your life would be more successful if you stopped suppressing magic now... The enemy spellcasters are all dead..."
Khessa moves in swiftly with a surge of devestating attacks and finally puts down the drow assassin before they can finish off the beholder!
Traydark follows up slinging eldritch energy at the gargoyle and blasts them solidly!
The gargoyle recoils from the blasts before suddenly turning on Ghazrim and savagely attacking them! (A bite and claw for 10 damage total) Ghazrim slumps over from the gargoyle's attack! The gargoyle then flies over to get in melee with the beholder.
Horkas and Katryl up!
(Beholder is still alive but badly hurt, 3 thugs are okay one more is hurt, drow warriors are slightly injured)
Katryl again holds her position, taking careful aim (Bonus Action - Steady Aim). She then fires her shortbow at the Gargoyle. (Shortbow Attack: 23, Damage: 12 + 11 sneak attack)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Horkas continues moving laterally to escape the anti-magic area. If he gets to a place where he can feel his magic, he will hurl a 4-inch-diameter sphere of acid at the gargoyle! (casting Chromatic Orb at 2nd level: Attack: 26 Damage: 22)
If he can't get away from the ant-magic cone, he will fire his crossbow at one of the drow warriors. (Attack: 11 Damage: 3)
Horkas moves over to the far side of the pillar and launches the orb of acid at the gargoyle and splashes it all over!
(At the end of Horkas's turn, the beholder uses a legendary action to turn one of its eyestalks at Horkas! Horkas please make a Constitution saving throwas the eye grows red!)
Katryl fires away at the pesky gargoyle, hitting it on the side and it's just enough to make the gargoyle fall to a stony heap on the ground!
The beholderturns another eye at Horkas and it glows yellow! (Horkas make a Strength saving throw as well!) The anitmagic cone remains in place!
Thugs: B hits drow warrior A for 7 points of damage! D and F take swings at drow warrior B, knocking them for 11 points of damage!
Lulu continues the short distance to Ghazrim and a healing aura radiates from her the moment Lurue's magic returns. Seeing the Beholder set its literal sights on her gnome, Lulu takes a deep breath and beseeches in Sylvan, "Cadal (sleep)."
Turning her focus back to Ghazrim, she places a hand on his chest and sends a ripple of vitality through him. As soon as his breathing has stabilized, she urges him, "We are allies, sent on behalf of Davra Jassur. Please tell yer aberrant-friend to take his eyes off my companion. We are here to help."
Held Action from Round 2 (goes off as she gets out of the anitmagic zone): casts Aura of Vitality. ((Round 3: Action: Casts Sleep at 3rd level over the group fighting each other (centering it where it will get the drow and beholder ideally). It affects 49hp's worth of creatures, ignoring those who are unconscious (including Ghazrim). Bonus Action: After casting Sleep, she'll use Aura of Vitality's healing on Ghazrim to restore a measely 5hp))
Khessa opens her mouth in disbelief at the scene of the beholder who, immediately after seeing the gargoyle who was about to kill him eliminated by Horkas... finds nothing better to do than unleash his powers against Horkas himself!
'What is the logic behind all this?' wonders the blonde arcane warrior 'Is this beholder therefore also prey to demonic madness? And so thoroughly mad, to consider the person who just saved his life... as an enemy to be killed?'

(Stabilizing someone with a Medicine check will take your action) Lulu gets into the fray and holds a healing spell to help Ghazrim if possible soon!
Drow warrior A turns to a thug and viciously stabs them twice, drow poison seeping into their bodies as they slump over. (thug C is dead)
Drow warrior B get a couple of good swings at one thug as well, leaving them bloody but standing (thug F)
