Gnome's OOTA Story Thread [CLOSED]

Scouts 1 and 3 are dead. Scout 2 is just heavily injured.

(OOC: The scouts are safe up at the top of the shaft, right? We only brought the Veterans? )

(I thought it was the 5 of you, and the 5 veterans with Khessa. Did I misunderstand that? Plus the shield guardian.)

Traydark dex save: 12

The noble drow is struck by the sickening black and green ray, fully expecting it to slay him outright, but then giving the beholder another incredulous look as it merely puts some annoying hurt onto him, wondering if this beholder is as dangerous as he expected.

Khessa's Dexterity saving throw: 20

Khessa ducks and avoids the ray; she then runs towards the bald spellcaster who tried to incinerate her friends.

The blonde arcane warrior moves around him, then suddenly shoulder-charges him, trying to throw him down to fall in the very deep chasm.

The infantrymen focus on the remaining rnemy, the dreaded beholder!

They point their crossbows and...

Thora Nabal - Heavy Crossbow Attack: 14 Damage: 4 (piercing)

Khessa knocks Shedrak off firmly and he starts to fall.

Slyrien and Tamryn hit the Karazikar for 10 damage total (144/180)

Katryl up

If she is to turn to stone, Lulu knows she will not have the chance to save Traydark through revivification. So, seeing the sickly ray headed for her friend, Lulu calls upon a gift given. A boon in exchange for the selfless sacrifice of her years. 

"Mother of Mercy, let our pain be shared and our journeys across the Veil respited."

Just before the ray hits, the beam seems to split in two, one of which diverts towards the cleric as though pulled through sheer will. Her eyes radiate a blinding divine glow as it strikes her true. 


((Using the boon from Lurue to take half the damage from the Death Ray: By currying their favor, Lulu's Queen is particularly touched as well. The Fey Queen hears the plea of Lulu and accepts her request in bargaining for Katryl's life, restoring Katryl's rightful age at Lulu's expense. She offers one other fey-touched blessing: A one-time use to either prevent magical aging again (to anyone in the party), OR take half the damage that would otherwise kill a party member.))

Katryl is clearly shocked as she sees Lulu call upon her goddess and somehow pulls part of the deadly strike against Traydark to herself. "Lunaria!" she calls out with concern.  But she knows she needs to continue to focus on the battle. With the magic dampening the area about her, Katryl decides to reach for a different tactic.  She grabs one of the beads from her Necklace of Fireballs and hurls it at the beholder. (Aiming to be within 20 ft of Karazikar but more than 20 ft from the other party members.)  

(Fireball - DEX Save DC 15 or take 21 fire damage, 10 fire damage on successful save) 

She again tries to study the beholder to try to find an advantage. (Insightful Fighting - Insight Check: 21 vs Deception) 

Dex save: 5

Deception: 25

Karazikar takes the full damage from the fireball. (123/180)

Lair action: Everyone in the cave tunnel make a Dex save, DC 15, or be grappled as tentacles slither out of the walls and attempt to wrap around everyone.

Shedrack: Laughs maniacally and casts misty step to teleport back up onto the bridge.
