Khessa is so pleased when, while tending Silas, she sees out of the corner of her eye that Traydark is tending to Ebzer...
'Who would have thought?' she can't help but smiles to herself.
"I think Silas will be fine... The bandages stopped the bleeding. How's it going with Ebzer, Traydark?" the blonde arcane warrior takes a moment to ask the noble drow "Do you think he'll make it? He had taken such hits from the big fish... I don't think I could have resisted that much myself! He must have stone instead of flesh, to cover his bones".
"All because even the kuo-toa leader didn't understand anything!" mutters Buppido, annoyed that the other dwarf is stealing the show from him (albeit when he's passed out) "They really didn't understand that I was the main threat! Well, in fact they lost the battle..."
"Yes..." Khessa raises an eyebrow ironically "This is actually a detail that many enemies fail to grasp, Buppido. I just can't understand the reason... But if that leads us to winning battles like this, I suppose we can't complain".
The noble drow looks up at Khessa, his face serious. "I'm so sorry Khessa but I believe the duergar is..." He pauses, shaking his head with a heavy sigh. "...going to make it."He finishes, winking and smiling at the blonde warrior. "You'd better take care of him now, I wouldn't want him to feel indebted to me for saving his life. Besides, he would definitely wake up to your face rather than mine." He adds, standing up and stepping away from Ebzer.
Khessa smiles back at the drow: "You did a wanderful job, Traydark! You're convincing me more and more" she also returns the wink "that your talents aren't limited to your (by the way quite good) skills in the arcane arts!"
When the other makes to move away from the unconscious dwarf, the blonde arcane warrior objects: "I don't want to force you, Traydark... and thank you for your opinion on my face... However, I think it could be more useful if Ebzer realized instead that he owes his life to you... You know, he's always seemed so... wary of you! I think he might start to trust you more if he knew the truth. And so, maybe, one day, should you need him, he might be more inclined to save your life himself in turn… right?”
"Anyway..." the tall adventuress is talking to everyone this time "What do we want to do? Continuing to Sloobludop with two unconscious people would mean carrying them in our arms... we could even do it, if the route is not difficult, but we would be slower. And in case of 'difficulty' like the one we have just overcome, we would have to abandon our friends on the ground to fight, exposing them to some risk... Could it perhaps be better to look for a nearby defensible position and camp? If at least Silas manages to regain consciousness, he could then heal with magic... What do you think? It seems almost safer to me to camp, than to go on as we are..."
The noble drow hesitates, looking between Khessa and Ebzer. "I...I'm not sure I actually saved his life, he seems to be a sturdy one, even for his kind, in fact I might owe him by now. But don't tell him I said that." Traydark says and decides to step away further. He wasn't quite ready to trust the others yet, even if the blonde human seemed very intent on having him do so for some reason. Did she really think he could be changed? He was a drow, it was his nature to distrust others, it was how he survived, and if anything, his current predicament was due to him not being distrustful enough of his siblings. "And yes, we should definitely rest now before continuing towards Sloobludop, if we are even welcome there." He continues after a moment, then turning to Shushaar. "Why do you think they attacked us like this, and who is this deep father they were raving about?"
The duergar's eyes finally flutter open, and he sits up with a groan, clutching his side. "Durin's Beard! That hurts." He looks around. "Well, good work all. Sorry I couldna lasted with ye til the end... just needed a wee nap." He hauls himself unsteadily to his feet. "I hope we dinnae have much further to travel today, I need a good long sleep to recover."
"That fight got too boring for you duergar?"The noble drow says with a wink as he uses his drow magic to clean himself up after the fight. "If you insist we can take a break then." He continues with a chuckle, looking around for a decent spot to rest.
Since she failed to get Traydark to stay beside Ebzer, it is Khessa who is beside the duergar when he finally regains consciousness. The blonde arcane warrior smiles at him, sincerely glad that the stoic warrior is already, if not quite well, at least well enough to come to his senses: "You have already done a lot to resist as long as you could. When I saw you fall, I feared the worse... but we did everything to close the matter quickly and immediately after Traydark ran to take care of you... luckily, because I was already busy trying to save Silas, who, as you will surely remember, had been taken down before before you - so was possibly even more in danger! Well, Traydark, I said, managed to stop your bleeding and so..." the tall adventure concludes the speech by embracing the dwarf (taking care not to squeeze too much and not to touch his wounds) "...you're still with us!"her relief is evident, as she fixes her blue eyes in the other's "Welcome back, rocky one!"
"Of course we will rest!" Khessa confirms "We were just asking our kuo-toa something," she glances briefly at Shushaar, waiting to hear what he replies to the noble drow "then we'll look for a fairly defensible position and camp. I managed to finish the fight standing up (still not sure how!) but I'm at the end of my physical and magical strength! I'll also welcome some rest".
Shuushar, while still in his serene sort of state, does offer a questioning look at the mention of the Deep Father. "Our people worship the Sea Mother. I don't know who the Deep Father is. I would be curious to know though, and why my people would call on someone else now. Very strange."
There is isn't a really good spot to make camp nearby, best you can do is pull up against a wall and hope for the best.
Did we pass better places to camp during, let's say, the last hour? If yes, Khessa proposes to backtrack a little... Else, she thinks it is better to go on for a while (maybe on hour? Or half an hour?) keeping eyes open for a good camping place then be content on the best the group can find during that time.
Katryl brushes herself off and checks the others are in good shape once the fighting ends. "I think we aren't going to get far with our wounded. And there's no guarantee we get a better camp spot. Why not just stay here and try to make the best of it?" She then looks at Eldeth, Traydark, and some of the other Underdeep inhabitants. "Has anyone heard of this Deep Father? If the kuo-toa don't know of this being, then perhaps they got it from someone else?"
If the group does decide to stop here to camp, she will do her best to help situate the camp in the safest spot and arrange it to where they can best keep watch. (Survival: 8)

The duergar blinks as Khessa showers her loquacious attention on him, and his grey complexion gets a little pinker as the human woman embraces him and stares at him with her strange-colored eyes. A typical duergar, male or female, might not utter as many words as that in a whole week.
Ebzer's face registers shock as he is informed that the drow tended to his wounds. He quickly recovers his normal sour expression, but does look over at Traydark thoughtfully, and gives him the briefest of nods.
"Thank you, Khessa. Aye, I can walk, a bit, if needed. It does feel like someone put lead in me boots and a millstone around me neck, though. Not too far."
The noble drow nods in agreement with Katryl. "Yes, let's rest here until exeryone is back on their feet at least." He says, helping the genasi to find a decent spot to rest where they are. "Okay, then let's camp without looking for better places" Khessa agrees. "But at least let's retreat out of sight, to the passage we came from... We know nothing of the kuo-toa patrol that attacked us. If it was an isolated band, we have nothing to fear. But if they were part of larger organization, other kuo-toa may notice that the patrol does not return and send another one to investigate - and we are in no condition to defeat another one. So, let's at least retreat out of sight, in the passage, so that if someone arrives, they don't notice us right away".
The blonde arcane warrior also takes the opportunity to search the bodies of the kuo-toa: "These nice fishmen that welcomed us had many things with them... spears... shields... nets... If someone wants to equip themselves, feel free to take something; I don't think they need their things anymore..."

You are fine to take a short rest, knowing that the longer you linger out here, the more likely the drow from Velkynvelve will find you again. No one seems to recall who the Deep Father refers to, but Shuushar offers again that if some of his people are worshiping something other than the Sea Mother, it is curious at best.

"I've never heard of this Deep Father, but I wouldn't be surprised if we find out his appearance is somehow connected to the increased demon activity we've already noticed." Traydark grimly answers Katryl. Before resting the noble drow would offer to use his magic to clean Khessa and Katryl up from the grit of battle, used from a life of serving strong females. He would then find a spot to rest by a cave wall, while Sarith keeps watch.
"Thank you, Traydark," Khessa eagerly accepts the offer of the magical cleaning "you are very kind!"
After he is finished she admires the result and, smiling pleased, offers in return: "That's great! I think I could also try to help you a bit with my magic... it's just an experiment but... if you dare to try... turn your back to me, then close your eyes and just relax..."
She then summons her faithful Unseen Servant yet another time, instructing it to administer a slow and relaxing massage to the noble drow's base of the neck, shoulders, back...
"It's working?" she is curious "Is it relaxing? I would have gladly done it myself, but I must focus on regaining my strength, at the moment... I just hope magic is an acceptable surrogate for now... At least the servant does never tire! It can go on as long as you like. Just tell me when you have had enough and I'll have it stop, ok?"
She then tends to her own wounds, refreshing also her spells by studying her precious tressym-spellbook.
