"This was not a theft, it was outright a murder attempt," mumbled Mirelda under her breath. Obviously, others, including Mirt himself, understood it as well.
She picked up her golden ingot, weighted it in her hand with brows rising (it was a real thing, must have cost quite some money!), and nodded to the explanation. As bribery goes, you can not overpay for such things.
She waited for others and walked back to return the cap slower and in silence, nursing her wounds. Only once the caps were returned she opened her mouth to say "I think I'll hit the bed for now." And went to her room to do just that.
(Happy new year to all and hope you all are ready for the second part. A reminder for the party, you've all had leveled up to the 2nd level.)
Half a month passes, with classes helping to teach and discover new things. But today is a more special as its the return to simulation deck, with talk of a sim being a mission sim, rather than a combat one. As with a mission, roles shall be assigned, the most notable being the captain and the spelljammer, the pilot. Before you head out, though, your first stop is the academy refectory for a hearty breakfast.
Warren cracks his knuckles as he makes his way to the refectory. Feels like forever since they had the chance to participate in a mission or a simulation. He wonders what role he'll be assigned. He looks to whoever is walking with him. "What roles are ya'll hopin for?"
"Until now it was not up to us."Mirelda took her usual glass of water, eggs (the best drylander's food in her opinion) and anything seafood like the refectory had to offer. "Do not mind taking the helmet myself, if no one else is willing to steer the ship. But will be fine to guard it as well."
"'Captain Beshlog' has a nice ring to it," the giant chuckles. "But I think we all know that, in spite of my best efforts, my main contribution to the team right now is hitting stuff."
Over the past half-month, Beshlog has been talking to Mirelda a lot... to an outside observer, it may appear that the Goliath wizard has a crush. But in reality he has taken an interest in the Triton's strange magic that seems to work differently from his own, especially the Armor of Agathys spell that he saw her use in the fight with the spiders. He has been trying to figure out if he could potentially replicate the powerful abjuration, and he's even started to consider making an eldritch pact himself to get access to more arcane knowledge. He has been intensely scrutinizing the pros and cons of such a major decision with nearly anyone who is willing to listen to his musings on the arcane.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Mirelda was not among those suspecting Beshlog of any flirtation. Unfortunately, she was not much of a help either. "It's the magic of the deep" was all he could get out of her sounding very honest too. "I was not taught it, it's... just happened. One day you wake up - usually after a long sleep - and you simply know what you have to do and have some tools to help you in your goal. I mean, magic." Miralda did not give any details about that "long sleep" and generally was pretty convincing in her ignorance of the source of her powers. Still, Beshlog, if he was truly attentive, could catch glimpses of some curiosity - not from the girl but from something behind her eyes and conscious mind.
Warren smiles, "Yer welcome to that helmet since I ain't fit to wear it." He laughs and taps his horn, "For more reasons than the simple fact that I ain't a magic user."He looks to Beshlog, "Heh, almost sounds as good as Captain Warren." The dragonborn appears confident as ever, though in reality he's pretty sure Adam would make the better captain simply by looking at their experience. However, he would never say that out loud. "But I'll take what I get i suppose. Unless of course whoever gets assigned doesn't want to be in charge."
Muck has enjoyed his time on this rock and has been going in and out of everywhere he can possibly fit. Always keeping an eye out for more of those spider things or eggs, just in case. He has tried to keep his tendrils to himself but every day it is becoming harder and harder not to practice his craft.
He is happy to join his fellow crew mates at breakfast with the upcoming mission in a few short hours. He sits and enjoys breakfast with his crew, only remembering half way through breakfast to turn his skin a darker shade so no one can see his body process the food.
"I assume the offer of Captain and Spelljammer will not be offered to me and I am OK with that, as I prefer to stay out of the spotlight. I wonder what type of "mission" they will be sending us on this time?"
You all take your seats at the last available table, already having a patron there as well. Nonetheless, the cadet does not say anything as he seems buried in a book.
Beshlog glances at the cadet's book, wondering if it might be an arcane tome. If it isn't, he'll focus on enjoying his breakfast of about a dozen pancakes, scrambled eggs, and a pile of bacon.

The cadet is reading a book on spelljaming, a technical manual of sorts going over maneuvers and tactics for pilots. The cadet reads through it while taking notes in a messy notebook of his, filled with other personal notes, some on spelljaming and others on arcane matters.
Warren scarfs down his breakfast of bacon, eggs, and biscuits, then downs his coffee. He's not interested in this cadet. "Well, I'm ready to get going!"
"Then let us go!" Mirelda finished her breakfast not really paying much attention to another cadet at the table and was ready to move to the next task at hand.
Beshlog considers saying something to the cadet... but decides against it. He's got his own books on spelljamming, and he knows that a lot of people get angry when someone starts bothering them while they try to read. He finishes his breakfast quickly, scraping the plate clean.
"Yeah, sounds like a solid plan to me. Definitely want to see what they have for us this time around... I hope it doesn't involve any damned spiders, though," the giant says with a chuckle.

Muck slides over to the cadet, "Hello, I am Muck, who are you and how long have you been at this academy?" As Muck looks the cadet up and down attempting to get a read of the cadet.
"Oh, uh, hello," The cadet responds, putting down his book, "Nice to meet you Muck, I'm Miken. I'm actually from that batch of recruits after you all, sorry if I seem distracted. I'm just anxious about this upcoming simulation, seems like it'll be a competition between our two groups and...I-I don't do well under pressure, especially with the role of being the pilot. I fear that I'm just going to mess up and screw it all up."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Competitors? Bring it on! A "mission" suddenly turned into a competitive simulation. "We will see if your fears are justified, don't we?"Politely remarked Mirelda eyeing the future pilot. (Insight on if the cadet really worrying or just pretending : 7)
She could not help it but say (quietly, to the ears of her team) "But how come he knows everything about the competition and even his role while we were told nothing?"

Beshlog says his thanks as he tucks the gold ingot away.
"I'm with Mirelda on this," Beshlog says as he hands in his cap. "It's been a long day, and I could use a nap."

Bellona nods in agreement to the idea of rest.
(As holidays are here, will take a hiatus for a short while. Will continue with the second adventure once the new year starts.)
