"Of course, it is a pleasure to meet you Nyhwll."Sal says. "Though I am not a lady by bloodline. Apologies but I am unfamiliar with the noble houses on the mainland, so please forgive any ignorance on my behalf."
While she is talking, she has her Detect Magic active and is checking to see if there are any magical auras around those she is talking to or their items.
Kelthese, wandering unarmored and scimitar swaying loosely on his hip makes his way around the deck to sign on for the adventure being proposed. He was going to wait, but the thought of payment had been distracting his thoughts more than he wanted to admit.
As he wanders the ship he catches Nywhll and Sal conversing and slinks over, noting in his mind how they stand out compared to the other ship hands. After listening briefly he pipes up and extends a pale hand to Sal, "I guess we'll eventually end up becoming friends ...if you're the only medic on board. I'm fine for now, haven't had more than a bruise or two in a fortnight."
And he then extends his hand to Nywhll; "It is also a pleasure to meet you, my name is Kelthese."
After some extra sleep to recover from one of his very first tavern experiences, Rook meanders over to meet the newcomers Sal is talking to. He is not his usual, chipper self, but does his best to smile none the less. The lad is dressed in casual clothes and does not seem to have any of his personal items about him with the exception of some sort of odd, black metal or glass bobble on a string around his neck. "Hey guys, I'm Rook. Sorry, normally I'd be more excited, really I would. It's always exciting to meet new crew members, and new friends. I'm just not... not feeling so good today. Welcome aboard though. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures, if you'll share."
Sal smiles as Rook arrives after his lie-in. She casts Lesser Restoration upon the hexblade to alleviate any aftereffects from the large amounts of alcohol he partook in.
After getting some much needed sleep, S'ika woke in high spirits. Picking up her favorite lute and leaving behind her armor, she head towards the ship's board to see if the dwarfs request had been posted. Once there, she quickly finds the sheet and signs her name. As she walked the decked, she slowly strummed her lute. Her eyes quickly locked onto the group of people that included Sal, Rook, and others she hasn't met yet. She quickly walked up to the group "Hey Rook. Hey Sal" She said as she gave them a warm smile. She then turned to the others "And hello strangers. Im S'ika. S'ika Kloreel" She held out her and in front of them.

"Good morning, S'ika."Sal smiles. "You appear to be in high spirits today. Let's keep them up for the remainder of the journey." Sal will wander about the top deck, no longer in her armour, as she enjoys the gentle sea breeze on her face.
The remaining days in dock pass without incident. Cargo is loaded to the rafters as the time permits many purchases for the ship's hold. Soon enough, the Silken Keel is ready for the open waters once more. Holds are strapped down, crew is boarded (or located and carried aboard) and lines cast off. The ship exits the cove and heads back into her native terrain. The list for the Dwarf's mission grows longer, with the benefits of joining rather significant in most sailor's worldview. Soon enough, 15 people are listed on the mission. Small groups form now and then, with speculation for the cause of the problem wild and varied.
The first day at sea sees nothing untoward, and the ships continues onwards, crew doing diligent duties.
The second day, however...
OOC- roll perception and initiative, please.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Kelthese, trying to rest, is reminded pretty clearly of the differences between attempting to sleep on land versus at sea. He was so thrown off by the movement he cleaned his armor again, rearranged his arrows, and spent far too much time scratching Elven runes into his longbow.
On top of that, he made awkward small talk with the crew of the ship in his downtime.
But, as he was making his rounds on the second day...
While the ship is out at sea, Sal has taken to wearing her breastplate even while staying within the cabin. She will have done a quick check-up on everyone before disembarking to ensure they are fit for the travel.
Rook greets S'ika and thanks Sal profusely for the Lesser Restoration. "Wow, I feel SO much better. You really are the best, Sal." The young lad beams at her, but then gets embarrassed and looks down at his feet.
Two days later Rook is hustling around the deck, hard at work when trouble arises...
After their first encounter of trouble at sea, S'ika now dresses for battle. Today, S'ika decided to spend her time getting to know more of the crew members. So she will be spending her time up top on deck.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Over the course of the preceding days, Nyhwll has taken to his duties diligently. He could be found somewhere on deck today, listening to the hum of the sea and the wind most likely...
OOC - I held off on posting to see who was actually left. You are the survivors. :D Onwards, valiant!
Sal, Rook and S'ika are walking the decks together during the early afternoon when all three of them hear an intense noise from the cargo area! Turning nearly as one, they see a wave of brown with red dots surging towards them. Less than 20 feet away, a tide of rats are racing in an unnatural wavefront, their bodies almost in sync as they zero in on the group! Nearby sudden screams from other crewmates tell them they are not the only ones under attack!
OOC - the rats are last in initiative. Nyhwll & Kelthese are on the top deck, unaware of this new threat. The group of three need to make another perception roll for additional information.

"Where did all of these come from!?" Sal says, gesturing with her hands to bring forth a weapon of the gods, a seven-pointed throwing star that flies through the swarm. She follows it up with a blast of holy flames to attempt to wipe out some of the rats.
Bonus Action:Spiritual Weapon: 11 vs. AC. Hit:5 force damage. Action:Sacred Flame: DC 13 Dexterity Saving Throw: Taking 4 radiant damage on a failure.
Still looking for additional Perception rolls from both of you.

"What's going on?" exclaims Rook as this unusual rat swarm takes over the ship.
Always wanting to show that he is brave and protect his friends, the lad steps up in front of Sal and Sika, drawing his sword from his back and casting Armor of Agathys on himself to make these rats regret touching him.
Additional Perception: 19
OOC AoA at 2nd level, so 10 temp HP and 10 cold damage to anyone hitting Rook in melee while any of the temp HP is active.
The swarm of rats spreads out, still a floor of brown with red dots as it attacks the crew, claws scrabbling. Climbing up legs, over boxes, along ropes, these ensorcelled critters bite and claw every one they can reach, inflicting tiny wounds on bare flesh. Any significant armour protects against this, but the creatures try to reach face, hands or any unprotected flesh! On Rook, the creatures attempt to climb his body, and are almost immediately frozen and fall back! a circle of the dead soon surround his feet. Sal's holy energies explode within the pack and bodies of charred beasts fly everywhere! S'ika also finds it necessary to use her weapons on the little beasts, skewering, slashing and repelling those rats that come within reach.
Even among the frantic activity of the battle, Both Sal and S'ika notice a strange thing - near the back of the swarm of rats is a red, glowing circle of about a foot in diameter, from which more rats continue to pour. Sal especially is reminded of the red burnt circle that was discovered after the Ogre Zombie attack back a couple of weeks ago.
Sal and S'ika both take 6 damage DC12 DEX save for half. Rook takes no damage.
Meanwhile, the rest of the ship is alerted to the threat as shouts and screams are heard from below!
