The Call of Lon-Dia

Initiative Order 

Jacob, you’re first.

With a growl, Jacob lunges at the rat without much thought after hearing the crossbow click and attacks with both blades:

Bread: Attack: 17 Damage: 6 + Fire 1

Butter: Attack: 7 Damage: 1

You smash through the small opening in the rumble-made nest and slash angrily at the Ratfolk within. Bread cuts Creel deep on one of his arms, but Butter misses its target.

Jacob: Creel grips his arm and yells at you, “NOOO!! THE VOICE TOLD ME THE PRETTY WAS MINE!! IT WAS PROMISED TO ME!!!”

He grabs a dagger with his good arm and slashes at you.

Attack: 7 Damage: 7

You step back and easily avoid his attack.

Stone, your turn.

Stone rushes into the fray with his sword swinging and, if he hits, uses the last of his magical reserves to smite the disgusting, slovenly rat folk.

Stone's attack = 19

Stone's damage = 4 + 9

Stone: Your sword glows as it slices Matimer Creel the Ratfolk cleanly in half. His top half manages to croak out the words “the voice...”, before dying.

You stand with Jacob in a nest filled with stacks of coins, waterlogged books, and other items sorted into piles.

What do you all want to do?

Jacob would be grabbing up the coin, healing potions are expensive, and otherwise searching the piles.

"What do that was all about? What voice?"

Penelope will join the others on the nest and search Creel's body for the key.

Stone does the same. Investigation: 10

Sorting through Creel’s “treasures,” you find the following items of interest;

• 74 gp 
• 190 sp 
• a pair of sapphire-studded earrings
• a silver dagger
• a gold ring with an emerald inset
• a variety of keys to lost locks, distant chests, and mundane doors. But one key at the bottom of the pile looks different. It’s almost a foot long and covered in dwarven runes.

"I suppose this is what our man is looking for."

Penelope says as she lifts up the large key to show to her companions.

"Oooh, pretty", says Natasha, as she grabs the earrings and looks them over. She looks at them intently, then a worried look crosses her face.

"Um... Penelope, dear? You wouldn't happen to know if any of these items are... cursed or something?"

(Natasha holds the earrings towards her, hoping her knowledge of Arcana will keep them from having any unexpected issues.)

Jacob sorts through the coinage, "Unless there are any objections, or other ideas" and  begins to divvy out 18gp and 47sp to each of the others...

"Penelope, if you can evaluate these items and discover whether they have any hidden mystical qualities that would be a big help. If not, I say we sell them and split the profits. Either way, let's head back to our employer and let him know that we found his darn key. I'm getting tired and I want to make sure that I don't have that doubling disease before I go to sleep."

Stone grabs the left over items, including all the keys, and starts to head back into the center of town.

"A bit of a breather sounds like a brilliant idea. Lets check back in with Donnar before we head back though... I'll toss him the change here by way of thanks for the intel."

(the 2Gp and 2Sp left over from the division)

Penelope will accept the items given to her.

"Hmm. I'll look them over and do my best to identify if they are dangerous or not. Let's return to somewhere safer though, I'm not very comfortable here. I'd also like to return the staff to Donnar as I promised I would. I would feel bad bringing these little critters into battle with us anymore."

After making sure you haven’t left anything of value behind, you all head up the ladders and back to Donnar’s hovel.

He looks up at you hopefully, “Is it done?”

"I believe we have what's been asked for and the one called Creel is no more."

Penelope holds up the key proudly.

Jacob tosses him the left over coin, grunts at him, and heads for the exit...
