"I apologies if what I said offended. It's only that you almost died and have been mostly useless since we saved you. I suppose you did end whatever that ritual was back there, but you let it happen in the first place, so..." Stone shrugs. "In any case, my name is Stone Nads and I'm looking for an enchanted shield that makes its bearer invincible. Have you heard of anything like that?"
"Good friend Jacob, you are more then welcome to these glasses. I'm quite sure they will fit right on my head anyway."Penelope hands the glasses over to Jacob.
"And greetings to you Miss Polla. I am Penelope Skyshatter, niece of Asgar Skyshatter, and I am currently on a journey to become stronger in the fields of arcane abilities. That said I am quite curious about what you did in there to stop the anvils from glowing, would you be willing to share anything about your own abilities?"
Stone: Polla thinks for a second. "Nothing off the top of my head, although that sounds like something they would come up with in Dia."
Penelope: Polla waves her hand like it was nothing. "Oh that? That's Everforge clan magic, only ones of my lineage can use these magically forges. Beyond what you just saw, I don't really know any magic." She shrugs her shoulders.
Jacob: Polla immediately agrees. "This place lacks the charm it used to have, the sooner we leave the better."
And with that, the party departs the Hall of Everforge. On the way out, Polla locks the giant front doors. "I'll have to send someone to properly magically seal this place, but that should do for now."
You all travel north up the road to Valtoria. Along the way Polla explains how she ended up the prisoner of a Flame Dragon Wyrmling and its Sage. "I was kidnapped by kobolds and brought to the forge because the Sage, (his name is Spencius BTW), needed the blood of an Everforge to unlock those magic locks and activate the Forge. He mentioned a plan involving someone named Creel going south and that I was his back up. Spencius and Igbalneum kept rambling on about someone they only called The Master." She thinks to herself for a moment. "And there was someone else they mentioned, someone they hated; I think this person was an enemy of The Master. They called him the Benefactor."
After a few hours of walking north on the road you all come to a small farm. Polla sighs in relief. "Finally, I'm home." She turns to the party. "Please come in, at least for tea. It's the least I can do."
"I wouldn't mind getting the weight of my armor off my feet." Stone replies then looks up dreamily. "But I do wish I could have gotten one of those Plate Armors, even with it's extra weight."
"I'd be delighted to join you for tea. A proper sit down is just what we need after such a harrowing experience. Thank you Miss Polla." Penelope will be respectful and wipe her feet off before entering the house.
You all enter Polla house and you are met with the sounds and smells of a cozy cottage filled with love. You all sit around her kitchen table and she pours you each a cup of tea that smells faintly of mint. As you sit and decompress after your harrowing experience in the Everforge, you feel relaxed and reinvigorated. You are all now level 4.
When she's done fulfilling her hostess duties, she sits and joins you at the table. "So," she says as she sips her tea, "What brings you all to my little continent?"
(OOC, for your records, for Level 4 I took a boost in WIS to 16 and CON to 14 to get the additional modifier bonus in each - brings my HP to 36 and my eldritch blast attack bonus to +5, among other small bits that the WIS modifier helped out.)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Jacob Bray - The Call of Lon-Dia, Human Bloodhunter 3
OOC: Sorry for the gap here, but between work, Yom Kippur, and the Saddleridge Fire (which my parents are in the middle of) I've been unable to update the adventure. Look for something new tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend!
You all sit and make small talk with Polla. From what appears to be her bedroom, two cats poke their heads out of the doorway. She turns and looks at them. "There you two are! I wondered where you were hiding." They both run up to her and purr as they rub against her legs. She reaches down and gives them each a little scritch.
After a while of discussing your adventures so far on Lon-Dia (while not revealing your mission or your knowledge of the Benefactor) she perks up as if she remembered something. "Oh! I have the perfect gifts for you all to thank you for your rescue." She walks into a back room and you hear her rummaging around.
Polla emerges from the back room with an arm full of trinkets and give one to each of you and explains what they are. "They're nothing special, but who knows? They might end up being useful."
Natasha: A silver cup inlaid with elvish script
It sings mesmerizing melodies when filled with wine but howls in anguish when filled with anything else.
Stone: A small pot
It contains a yellowish paste that is corrosive to oozes.
Jacob: A small vial of vampire's blood
The vial repels creatures within a 1-foot radius who feed exclusively on blood.
Penelope: A petrified red and purple starfish
It makes the bearer impervious to losing their footing while aboard a sea vessel.
"I apologies if what I said offended. It's only that you almost died and have been mostly useless since we saved you. I suppose you did end whatever that ritual was back there, but you let it happen in the first place, so..." Stone shrugs. "Thanks!" Jacob says, slipping the lenses on and looking around, "I can already feel my glaucoma clearing up... everyone ready to beat feet?"
