"It's all Tymora's blessings really," Ebril says. He backs away hardly a step, feinting with the tip of the staff then bringing the other end up to try to strike Emel's midsection. (Quarterstaff Attack: 11 Damage: 8)
As her fists connect, the green glow surrounding ebriil flares up, amplifying her attack. At the same instant, Meps eyes change from usual color to match Emels sapphire blue eyes, a thin layer of flames momentarily igniting around her fist where it makes contact with Ebril.
Ebril reels from the blow from Emel and bite from Mep. He steps backwards trying to lift his arms. "Ok! Stop! I spoke too soon! Though I dare say, only Lady Luck's dear hand kept me from death there!"
He staggers a bit over towards the table, pulling out a chair to sit. Looking at a few singed hairs on his arm, he muses, "Not sure that all falls under non-lethal magic. But a good fight. I'd ask you to join me in a quick drink after all that..." He glances about the space where they're staying. "But I'm afraid I don't have anything to offer at the moment."
She chuckles, sitting across from him. "My bad, I tend to get a bit carried away. Point is, ranged is certainly my preference, but I can hold my own in a pinch." She pulls out a flask, taking a swig, then offering it to ebril. "As for a drink, I try to always keep some on me. Liquor is one of life's great joys after all."
Ebril takes the offered flask, "I'll say, seems you're handy to have around both before and after a fight!" He takes a small drink and passes it back. "Definitely liquor is one great joy."
He gives Emel a brief smile then continues. "You certainly can hold your own. And I agree with Annoura's assessment earlier - we'll probably keep back. At least when we are able to dictate the choice."
After the pair finish sparing, Annoura is pleased. Both seemed capable fighters, though real battles was a different kettle of fish. Still, they didn't lack for skill. Getting up, she walked over to them, "Well fought, you two," she says with a warm smile.
She turns to Ebril. "You look a little more worse for wear. Would you like some of my goddess's healing power?" If he agrees, she reaches out and rests a gentle hand on his left shoulder, allowing a measure of her goddess's power to flow into him.
"Sure, I would appreciate that Annoura." He stays still as she heals him with a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you. Bit of rest and I'll be fine, but the help is always welcome."
Emel takes another shot before putting the flask away. Mep curls up in her lap and she pets his head absent-mindedly. "I do intend to take up Tenstep's offer of temporary employment. If nothing else it'll keep my hands occupied and my flask full."
"Perhaps I should do the same. Be better than just sitting here for sure," Ebril says, following on Emel's comment. "And I wouldn't mind a full flask myself!"
"Yeah, me too," says the elven paladin. "Just want to get cleaned up first." With that, she grabs her bag and disappears into the bathing area. She emerges about 20 minutes later with damp hair, wearing light brown leggings and dark brown tunic, well made but of plain, sturdy material. Her boots are also cleaned. She hangs her clothes to dry and looks at the others.
"Anyone else care to wash up or should be earn some coin?"
As Annoura returns, Ebril says. "It's a tempting offer, but I think perhaps work first and clean up later." He heads for the door, taking a couple steps, then spin backs around towards the others. "Didn't someone say something about lunch? Wonder where Mazeen has gotten to."
As if he has been summoned by Ebril's words, the hidden door opens and Mazeen Tensteps appears, holding a tray laden with a selection of fruits, meats, breads and cheeses. "Lunch is served! And look who I found to carry the drinks." Behind him a grumpy looking Rummus fills the narrow doorway from side to side. He too carries a tray on which rattles glasses, a jug containing a bright yellow juice, and a bottle of brown ale each.
"I'm not your bloody servant, Mazeen," he grumbles. "Next time you can get one of your people to play waiter." Mazeen looks at him with a sad smile. "I think we both know there won't be a next time, Rummus. Enjoy your meal! Feel free to find me in the warehouse once Rummus is done with you," he calls to you all, then he exits, leaving Rummus in the room with you. He places the tray on the table before continuing. "Any trouble on the way here? Everyone settled in?"
Ebril hurries over to grab the tray from Rummus. Before he gets there though the dwarf is already placing it on the table. "Well we certainly do not expect you to be our servant," he says in what seems a serious tone as he snatches up two bottles of the ale. He holds the one out, offering it first toward his sparring partner Emel. "I presume you will all drink with me?"
He pauses near one of the chairs, waiting for the others to take a seat before he sits himself. While waiting he nods to Rummus. "We saw some guards but there weren't really any issues. We managed to get in some weapon practice and did some sparring while we waited. I guess we're settled in?" He looks at the others for their responses too.
Annoura nods. "Yes. We were about to go help out in the warehouse, earn some coin, but this is more than welcome," she says, gesturing at the trays. "Thank you." She pours herself some of the juice and then fixes herself a sandwich of meat, cheese, and thin slices of a yellow fruit. She puts a some grapes on her plate before sitting down to eat. "So, what's next, Rummus?"
She grabs the offered bottle, raising it to Ebril's with a greatful look on her face before taking a large gulp. She turns to the rest of the group. "Yeah, we figure we can help out while keeping ourselves busy. Any particularly difficult jobs need doing?"

"Good to hear it," Rummus rumbles. "You'll need to be on top form for this."

The juice is light and sweet - you recognise it as mango, quite commonly farmed in the region to the north between Quesada and the Queshi Forest, more so than the orange and lemon trees that can be found in the orchards along the Eumenates Coast on the other side of the Plains of Aldeia.
"What's next is killing time, to be honest. What you have been doing. Training, learning to trust each other. Helping Mazeen. I have a feeling he'll keep you busy. Making plans. I'm just checking you got here alright." You get the feeling that he isn't just checking you're safe, but that you actually turned up and haven't taken off. "Have you seen the map yet?" he adds. "See if you can figure it out."

"Don't ask me! Ask Tensteps, this is his place." He leans forward and sniffs. "Have you been drinking?"
