Sylvera of course recognizes it, or at least a part of it. They are still here and there within the old city, after all. They are, in fact, supposed to be lights- There's... Something, someone can do with that seemingly ordinary slab of stone to make it glow. She's even seen it in action, once or twice, though doesn't know the specifics of just how they did. Something about applying some kind of oil..? The commoners always did it, she never paid too much attention.
At the very least it's certain that the old ancients had a FAR more efficient method of lighting them, because they basically only get used as a novelty nowadays, long replaced with ordinary lights when the novelty of it is not necessary.
The group continues, the road in too bad a state to make the journey much easier, but at least making it very evident the direction they have to go. Most too distracted to pay attention, although the centaur's eyes are alert. And those senses detect there's a large brown bear up ahead- Right now, wandering in the average direction of the group, though it seems uncertain whether or not the beast has noticed them... Yet.
Breldo ponders the close calls he's had over the years, certainly expecting that when he does die it'll most likely be violently, given his line of work. He's certain he would not at all be comfortable to be facing mortality that might involve being turned into a statue. Better to not see it coming, and all that.

Nuria is quiet for most of the trip, though she's obviously glad to be leaving the town. When Pallen starts explaining the reason behind his journey, she listens intently. His story saddens her, she feels bad for him, especially for his son. With all that's happened since they left on this quest, she had almost forgotten how recently he had passed on. She doesn't like thinking about death, but the thought of turning into a statue... The thought chills her to the core. At least she doesn't have to worry about that...her being a human and all.
She's too shy to say it, but she believes that once someone passes on, they all go to the same place...no matter how they die. Before she can muster up the courage to say this, Sylvara starts talking. Oh well, maybe her words wouldn't have mattered anyways.
Her eyes widen as they come across the strange 'lights' or what would be lights if they were working. She herself has no clue what they do, but they look interesting. That said, she's way to distracted to notice the bear up ahead.
(Assuming Khond doesn't manage to get in a response soon, I think it's a safe assumption to say that he would at least alert the others so someone else could act upon it's presence if they so wish.)

"And here I thought you were oiling yourself up as a snack...", Breldo says as he makes his way towards the front.
"No see here bear, we've no quarrel with you, but we're heading this direction, and don't want to disrupt your day. So you go your way, we'll go ours. Happy to send you along with some food, if you'd like.", Breldo says in a stern but comforting tone as he draws out some rations of dried meat and berries, waving it about before tossing some of it near the bear.

Breldo approaches the bear first, group right behind him, as inevitably the bear notices the group. A roar bellows from the beast, though it doesn't charge yet. Instead, the halfling does his best to show his intentions, the bear seeming to slow down. The halfling gets the distinct impression that the bear doesn't recognize them, so it's not sure if the ones ahead of it are food, and if they also aren't a threat... Though this ends up partially backfiring when he tries to offer some food to placate the beast. As it let's out a lower bellow, it approaches, swatting at the food in question. But after breldo (presumably) drops the food before it makes contact, the beast takes only a moment to gobble it up, and approaches Breldo yet again. Clearly wanting more.
The bear briefly glances in Rick's direction, before being distracted by Breldo throwing food to the side. And while it gets the beasts attention for a moment, it instead responds with another low growl as it turns back to Breldo, a paw raising overhead as it "bears" down.
(it's not putting in enough force to really hurt just yet, but it will pin Breldo down if not resisted. Athletics or acrobatics if you want to resist the "grapple", as well as whatever Breldo and anyone else will do next.)
Ugh, the dice roller hates me.

Rick is uncharacteristically quiet as they walk, eyes focused only on the road a short distance ahead.
He absently starts rubbing oil on his fur, mostly arms and head. A bit of slightly off olive oil by the smell.
(Assuming Khond doesn't manage to get in a response soon, I think it's a safe assumption to say that he would at least alert the others so someone else could act upon it's presence if they so wish.)
Rick stops and looks up at the bear.
"Rick thinks this is something for Breldo?"
He suggests while tucking away the oil pouch.
"And here I thought you were oiling yourself up as a snack...", Breldo says as he makes his way towards the front.

Rick will comment slightly quietly to Khond and Pallen,
"Rick has seen this before, give a rat a cookie and eventually it will try to eat Rick's toe pads while Rick sleeps."
Rick shakes his head and absently rubs his greasy hand clean on Khond's flank, forgetting the back half is attached to the person half.
"Slippery slope."
Breldo will toss what he had in his left hand into the shrubs to the side, giving the bear a shooing motion, and keeping his right hand behind him.

Rick nods as things go as predicted,
"Now Breldo better watch out. The pads of Breldo's feet are next."
"Boss Pallen think Rick should help?"
Breldo is absolutely not looking to let himself get pinned.
