Ever since his brief sharing of his past with Silf, Eron literally feels faster and less constrained like a real weight has been let go! Seeing the sun and thinking about his introduction to Pelor has Eron ready for some zombie destruction. "I think we should see what they are doing and probably stop it from happening."
"I think these are stragglers. There's no telling how many will come with the sounds of battle," Lai explains. "My horse became lame so I had to stop here overnight. I think the men that robbed me saw me here but we all were puzzled by the lack of other travelers coming through the Black Triangle from Turst Fields," she explains. "I think it's something between her and Turst Fields," she adds axe ready but looking very cautious!
"Are we running or fighting," Beryl calls out to the party her tone rising in concern.
The undead are now 50ft away!

"Tee hee hee," Silf giggles from the back of Apple-Jack, as she stands on the donkey's rear and starts waving her hand in front of her. As she does a little sort of fairy dance, she begins casting mold earth as many times as she can in front of the zombies, creating five-foot holes and trying to position them in front of where undead will be shambling. She continues to cast the spell until she's created a successful boundary between the zombies and the party or until something else compels her to stop. She resists the urge to pull out her slide whistle again and make comical noises as any of the zombies fall into the holes.

"Good job, Silf," Blair says, seeing the trenches she had created between them and the zombies. "We should run," He suggests softly, "Despite their numbers, these zombies are slow and sluggish. They wouldn't be able to catch up to us if we move quickly and stay focused."
Blair turns his attention back to the group, looking for their response. "What do you all think?" He asks with a small smile, hoping they will agree with his suggestion.

On the way out of town (assuming rhe group heads out which I think we are) Nobriki tries out his new ability. As he runs he reaches back toward the zombies, forming his hand into a clenched claw, and the words just come to him...
"PRAESTRINGO! "
And the blue fire-y outline around his hand fades out but then reappears as a giant hand around the nearest zombie. Squeezing inward as the undead fiend recoils at the effect.

"Blaire's right we should be able to stay ahead of the dead, especially with our very own grave-digger Silf here planting them in the ground behind us. Awesome job Silf."
Nobriki attack does nothing but embolden the zombies drawn more so to the necromantic engeries produced by the spell! The continue to harry the party as they move away from the tavern.
"I say forget the road and head the shortest way to Turst Fields, " Cal exclaims pointing to grassland and fiends to the northwest that skirt the road but then abandon it entirely. "I think the rougher terrain might provide some challenge for them to pass through and us a larger chance of survival, " the halfling explains as Beryl nods.
OOC I would now like a skill check from each party member on how they're efforts will aid the party's escape!
Nobriki will cast Speak with Animals and as they travel he will keep repeating to the denizens of the forest...
"Friends of the wild spread the word... we travel to find the source of the evil plaguing this land. That evil is now chasing us. Care for your families first, but if you can harry the creatures following us it will help us in that quest!"
Silf uses her minor illusion to create speaking voices, alternating with her druidcraft to create the sounds of animals nearby. She's hoping the combination of noises will distract the zombies and get at least some of them to veer off course and look for sustenance elsewhere.
Performance check to see if I can convince them there are nearby creatures? 19 (in game log!)

Following Silf's lead, Blair swiftly goes into action, his fingers moving deftly as he begins to weave minor illusion. With a flick of his wrist and a whispered incantation, he summons forth a few shimmering illusion of humanoids, their forms flickering in and out of focus as the magic takes hold, to hopefully distract the zombies.
Working together Blair and Silf's distractions get the party clear of the tavern and main road. Now in open fields and grassland with danger hopefully behind them the party heads northwest towards Turst Fields. Within the day at around late afternoon an ominous structure unlike any other structure the party has seen towers in the distance. It's an eerie obelisk of black/green obsidian!
"That..." Cal says his voice filled with concern, "doesn't belong there," he adds to the party as Beryl pulls up on Navar's reigns and comforts Cal with some gentle whispered words.
Lai is observing this exchange between the companions with rapt interest before looking away when Cal looks on the paladin's direction!
"Do you have any idea what it could be," Cal asks Lai who shakes her head.
"It's....a blight on the landscape for sure," Lai says hefting the axe onto her shoulder. "Anyone else have a clue," the paladin asks the party.
