Drakus explores the tavern and listens for rumors.
I’ll bet my last copper piece that those so-called refugees are advanced scouts for an army that’s preparing to attack Baldur’s Gate!”
“The Flaming Fist is decapitated. The captains have already started bickering over who should be in charge with Ulder Ravengard gone.”
“With Ravengard out of the way, who’ll be the next grand duke, I wonder? My money’s on Thalamra Vanthampur. Practically born in the sewers, she was, and more vicious than a swarm of rats.”
As the time goes by in the tavern sipping a beverage and if available some food at a modest cost, Drakus overhears several conversations. He works his way to each of the party members relaying information as he gets it.

I can't say I disagree with them. This city is definitely a beehive of activity and struggling to maintain order. Staying alive will be a challenge. Let's keep at it."
Drakus continues to look about. He's not much of a gambler so he lets the others work that angle.

Jorda nods, "That's what I hear as well. I wonder who this Thalamra Vanthampur is? It might be worthwhile trying to help her establish herself as the leader. At least as the regent until Duke Ravengard is back. Although, with him having visited the city that's gone missing, I don't think he will be back anytime soon.
This would benefit Baldur's Gate as it would stop the struggle for power."

"I like the idea of being a friend to a Duke, certainly has a nice ring to it. That too would be good, I am a bit tired of all the struggle spilling onto the streets, makes the day to day a bother." he says in a wistful tone.

Eight motley humans saunter into the tavern. The leader is a brawny man with a cloudy right eye, a cruel sneer, and a pirate’s swagger. The others are an unsavory, rowdy bunch who act as if they own the place.
“We’re looking for an old friend of ours,” says the dead-eyed man. He sniffs the air. “Goes by the name ‘Tarina,’ or so I’m told. Loves to cheat at Baldur’s Bones.”
Drinking most of the ten day Vallan stays at the bar slumped. Hungover from the night before, hearing the pirate call out. Vallan hops off the stool and walks right up to em. A bit sick he goes to say something but instead wretches on the pirates boots.
“Ah…sorry…” Vallan gets the word out as he finishes throwing up his guts. “You….should…leave…before…I hurt you.”
Hearing Vallan puke and the 8 ruffians coming boasting about Tarin puts Balasar on the alert and he moves to assist Vallan. Balasar's full height on display as he hopes it causes them pause and concern.
"You say she cheats ey? Sounds like you learned a life lesson to me", replies Balasar.

Reese steps up to the dead eyed man, looking him in the… eye. “Listen, son… if I were you I’d turn around because.. Vallan would hurt you… and so would I. Now, I won’t throw the first punch.. but I’ll be throwing the last if you try and hurt Tarina.”
Salazar crosses his arms and leans back against a wall nearby, watching his group warn the thugs to step off. He ponders if this is going to come to blow, knowing that this is probably the case. To add to the threatening display, he casts Thaumaturgy to make the sound of ominous whispers centered on their group.

"Drakus, it appears these fine folks have a problem with our friend. Care to show them how we resolve problems?"
Beckoning for the Dragonborn to fully make themselves known. Salazar rests his hand on his weapon, a small sickle at his belt and takes a deep breath, waiting for the inevitable.
