I check my surroundings making sure no one is around. "Here goes nothing........." I grasp the bell with both hands and set in down where the missing bell should be.
Quill: You manage to move the boy and his father safely away from the snakes. As Friar Bernard arrives he looks around, seeing no sign of anything amiss. The snakes are no where to be seen. The woodsman thanks you with no more than a finger touched to his hat brim and a frightened nod, then the two of them hurry away into the woods.
Esvaris and Korlan: The bell is a perfect match and hangs easily on the small hook within the top of the bell pyramid on the back side of the small shrine.
Demoiselle: Not far into the woods, just out of sight of the temple, you find a large, moss-covered, fallen tree next to an old well with a small angled roof. Some of the boards of the little roof have been removed and placed over the well as a cover. There is an old thin stone bucket next to the well, but the rusty metal handle next to it has broken off and there is only a tattered and frayed bit of rope remaining. (Make a perception check)
Everyone: The last of the petitioners are leaving. Friar Bernard sets up a small meal on the veranda. Several of the locals brought gift baskets of berries, bread, and cheeses for all of you. The sun is lowering in the west. The goliath, licking berry juices off his large fingers, tells you that he is going to one of the local huts to check on the father who was too ill to come to the temple. He wants to make sure that it's nothing too serious or contagious. He recommends you all set up your bedding inside in case of wild animals.
"I'm glad you are alright, Quill, and I'm sure you are right, they have to be connected! While you were fighting for your life, Korlan and I were figuring out these bells." I gesture to the six bells. "That one," I indicate the back corner, "was missing, but Korlan found it in that hole. The caretaker said he hid it. The bells can be rotated in their settings. I wonder if maybe their orientation is significant; you'll notice there is a sun markings on the back of each bell."

I take a few steps back and pull a dagger from its sheath. “With your luck Quill, that thing is bound to open up to spill snakes all over the floor.” (Not a suggestion to the DM lol) I get on one knee and cast [Tooltip Not Found] on myself. A shimmery glow begins to rise from the floor at my feet quickly covering my entire body. “I’m ready when you are....”
Demoiselle: You can tell that someone has been walking around the area of the well recently. You're able to mend the bucket and get the brackish water out of the temple pool and refresh it with water from the well. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better. When you removed enough of the soiled water you found something in the bottom of the pool.
A tarnished brass clapper from a bell.
Quill: Examining the bells, you note the sun designs on six of the bells, the fact that each bell makes a different tone, and that each bell hangs from a small metal hook. The six that are marked with a sun are unique in that their hooks can be moved slightly downward when you tug on the bell.
Demoiselle fished the clapper from the pool and also the potion bottle from the hole hidden in the step and then used Mending to repair the step and the tiles. Wiping them down with a rag, Demoiselle popped the cork on the potion bottle and attempted to detect what it was by smell.
As I stand there, I watch as nothing happens. When Demoiselle arrives speaking of the clapper, I will tell her about the bell that is missing on. "The old man hid this bell in a hole in the wall. Talking about snakes and such. Anyways. that bell is missing a clapper. Probably the one you found. I say we reattach it and put the bell back." I ready myself again to attack if something comes out of this shrine.
As Demoiselle rehangs the final, now intact, bell back into it's place, all the bells settle slightly, as if the combined weight caused all the hooks to lower at the same time. Together they ring out in one perfect combined note. The shrine itself shakes a little, bits of loose masonry crumbling at the edges and falling around the base making a dusty cloud where you all stand. You hear a loud shifting and grinding of stone from within the temple behind you that can be heard all through the clearing. At the same time a small square piece of stone directly below the bell pyramid on the back of the shrine flips down revealing a dark hole within. The sun fully set some time ago and the pale light of the fingernail moon is not penetrating within the veranda.
Esvaris
"haha, 'taking a toll....' But seriously, yeah, I think that's probably the bell. Should we put it back up?"

Demoiselle went to the well to check it out for it's suitability for replacing the water in the pool.

More snakes! Quill thinks. Something very strange is going on, and while he doesn't like it, he does very much want to know more.
Present, after Friar Bernard leaves:
While they eat and set up for bed, Quill quietly tells the others what happened to him.
"All these snakes and poisons and that note on Yuan-tis! It has to all be connected!" he says.
And that's all I have to say about that.

Quill stands, interest piqued.
"May I take a look?" he asks. Assuming no objections, he hurries over to examine the bells.

Demoiselle:
After studying the bottle for a bit, you are fairly certain that it is Bottled Breath.
Demoiselle nodded sagely and slipped it into her belt and then sought out her companions to show them the clapper.
Quill tells Esvaris and Korlan as much, not really sure of this information's significance.
And that's all I have to say about that.

Demoiselle blinks. "Dare we venture into the darkness, friends?"
Esvaris
"Woah! Yeah, let's go." I take out my quarterstaff and venture into the hole.

I remove a ball bearing from my bag and cast light on it. I roll it on the ground into the hall way about 20 feet if it will go that far.

"Oh, good idea." Demoiselle murmured and did cast Light on her boots.
