The young man looks taken aback. "Hmmf. I thought your type at least had senses of humor. My mistake, nobody around here does. Fine. You may resume your sad little get-together, I will be taking my leave." True to his word, the heckler in the fine clothes steps out the door, trying his best not to show that he is in fact a little scared of how assertive and threatening the small kender managed to be.
Ori sticks her tongue out at the man as he turns to leave. She then looks to Calitynia and says "Don't worry about him. I think you told your story just fine, and I for one, have never heard that particular story before. What kind of evil octo-squid-ipus monster was it?"
Wilberforce walks back into the Inn, rather proudly displaying his flower, and is nearly knocked over by a young man who comes rushing out. 'I wonder what spoked him' thinks Wilberforce before re-entering the Inn. Predictably Wilberforce heads back to the bar. He sees the young half-elf from the funeral and decides to introduce himself. 'Nice to meet you lad. I'm Wilberforce, sorry if I missed your story. Can't keep my eyes open for ten minutes past sunset these days.'
Daryan gives the fancy young man a glare and considers having a not so polite talk to him about how to treat a lady, a solamsnic knight lady at that, but the kender beats him to it, and a smile tugs at his lips as he watches Ori scare away the heckler with her intimidating display. The white haired half-elf then looks a bit defensively on the older kender as he approaches him by the bar, fully expecting some berating, but as the other introduces himself politely Daryan relaxes his posture and breaks out in a friendly smile. "Good to meet you, I am Daryan, and you didn't miss any story of mine, but there were some others that were quite entertaining, although I have heard most of them before. I used to work for old Ispin some years back in Tarsis and well, he liked to tell me about his old adventuring days, he and Lady Becklin, and I think there was a dwarf too. Oh well, I am sure it is okay to turn in now if you are tired, I believe they have rooms available still here at the Brass Crab." He says in a polite tone. "So how do you and your friend..."Daryan says curiously, inclining his head to Ori. "...know old Ispin then. Wait, are you that Wilberforce, I think I have heard of you then, but tell me all the same." He finishes, pulling up two chairs by a table, offering the kender one of them, bringing cheese, bread and ale for the both of them.
Feeling immensely flattered, nobody actually asks to hear one of his stories, Wilberforce says 'Thanks you kindly lad' and sits down at the table. 'Well, Ori’s story is hers to tell, but Ispin may have told you of the time we rescued a young lad from the Dire-Peacocks of Darken Wood…' Wilberforce then launches into an obviously embellished tale of high adventure, lost children and overly elaborate tail feathers. After more time than you were probably expecting, Wilberforce finally finishes with ‘... and that lad is why you can never trust a wharf, anything can come out of them.’. Wilberfoce takes another long drink of ale and says ‘But that’s enough about me lad. I was his wildlands guide, but what sort of work did you do for Ipsin?’
Calitynia eyes the young man heckling her. She really isn't much offended at his remarks towards her. But malign Ispin here at his memorial? She was trying to keep her anger in check, but Ori jumped in first.
She gives Ori a thankful smile as she turns to speak with her. "Oh... umm... it was an evil... something. Uhh...very scary." After struggling for a moment, she shakes her head. "I'm not sure I know exactly. I was 6 at the time. I think I remember the impression I got more than the story."
She grins, "A short time after hearing that story, Ipsin went with me on the ship taking me to Sancrist Island. I was so disappointed that nothing spectacular happened to us!"
"Not all of us needs to remember every daring adventure we had with Ispin." Ori replies quietly. "I don't remember many of the adventures that we had together! I was either too young, or too newly returned from the feywild. What is the most important to me is the impression that I have of him. The... traits and qualities that he imparted to me. Those are not the most entertaining stories to tell, but they are the ways that we keep him alive inside ourselves forever."
Pelo, swaying slightly, makes his way to the front. "Ispin'n'I met in the wars. He was...uh...um...er good friend. One time, we caught a...wild boar...n ate it. Together. He was a good leeee...leee....leader. Taught soldiers well. One time, we cleared out squirrels. Had long teeth...like vampires...deadly, deadly squirrels. I won Daisy from him in a bet. He wassa...wassa...good..." At this point, Pelo starts crying, loudly, snottily, ugly-y. Tears rolling down his face, he stumbles back to his seat, rests his head on his table, and starts singing softly to himself.
For a moment Calitynia is distracted by the memories Pelo shares. She gets a slight grin on her face, then turns back to Ori. "I fear I did not get your name earlier. I really do thank you for scolding that heckler. It really infuriates me he'd speak that way about Mr. Greenshield. But you, certainly put him in his place! Your music out there on the wharf was very nice too. It beautifully fit the moment. You must be quite the musician."
The white-haired half-elf helps himself to more ale as he enjoys Wilberforce's embellished story, giving the kender a slightly confused grin as he finishes, not quite sure where the wharf got into the story. "Me? Oh, a little of this and a little of that, as a half-elf I never really was trusted with much by people if you know what I mean, and well, as a kid I helped myself to things I needed to survive on the streets of Tarsis, but then old Ispin came along and helped me out of that, starting by catching me in the act of stealing his apple, but a kind-hearted man as he was he decided to take me on for some time, paying me to help him out with running errands and such during his stay in the city. I honestly didn't know he moved up here but I'm glad I was invited to the funeral to say good bye to him. Eventhough he was only with me a year or so he really was the like the father I never had." Daryan explains, getting a bit emotional at the end. "Anyway, I'm also glad to be here to meet some of Ispin's old friends, I feel I already know some of you through his stories but it feels good to finally meet you in person Wilberforce." He quickly continues with a warm smile. "So, are you and Ori staying for this battle reenactment tomorrow? After watching her before I would hate to be on the opposing team as her." He says with a grin.
'No shame in taking what you need to survive lad, it's only natural. You get these high and mighty aristocrats who think they own the land, as if the land considers anyone its owner, and then they steal from anyone who works, lives or travels there. They are the real thieves my lad, only they call it taxes, rent and tolls when they pick your pocket. And they are the ones who look down on us. I’m just glad that you met someone like Greenshield who understood the true meaning of nobility'. Wilberforce takes another gulp of ale and considers the question of the festival. After some thought he answers 'I'm probably too old for play fighting, but I might hang around in case someone sprains an ankle. I will say this lad, you show wisdom beyond your years in not going up against Ori. If there is a more impressive Kender on Krynn, apart from Trapspringer, then I haven’t heard of them.’ With that Wilberforce takes one last sip of ale and promptly falls asleep in his chair.

"My name is Orisatra, but most people just call me Ori" She replies with a smile."I hope I didn't step on your toes, getting angry at that man. I just have such a low tolerance for rudeness. Back when I was still in the feywild, it was not uncommon for full fights to break out over something as small as a misinterpreted phrase. And the rules of reciprocity always stated 'do unto others what they do unto you'... or something like that. So when someone is rude like that, I feel that it is most appropriate for me to be rude back."
She shrugs nonchalantly as she finishes the sentence. "And that you... I don't think I am any amazing musician - I just find that music is the easiest way to me to cope with and express what I am feeling. It feels like it comes right from the center of me."
(Sorry for the weird bolding and color changes etc. For someone reason it does not want to cooperate with me and wouldn't let me unbold or change the color.... I don't know hahaha)
Shagrin leaves the revelry to the others. He stands his post until dawn. He listens to the soft drone of voices drifting from the crab as he remembers his own times with Ispin.
The white-haired half-elf smiles as he listens the wise words of the old kender and is about to say something kind in return when Wilberforce suddenly drifts of into a peaceful sleep in his chair. Daryan looks around the tavern and notices Ori talking to the white-haired Solamnic Knight, and with some hesitation he gets up and walks over to the two intimidating women. "Ehm, excuse me for intruding ladies, let me say I was moved by your lovely music as we walked down to the funeral service, and excited to hear about yet another adventure of Ispin's..." He says in an almost overly polite tone, looking first at Ori and the at Cali, then continuing as he looks back at Ori "...I believe your friend...Wilberforce has gone to sleep over there in his chair. If you know where his room is I'll be glad to help with tucking him in for the night." He says, sounding a tad bit nervous talking to the two women.
[OOC] Note that Wilberforce would obviously be deeply touched by any concern for his well being. However he spent decades as the only Kender slave in a camp full of goblin slaves. He now lives alone in the wild. He falls asleep a lot, but I wonder if he is a light sleeper and what his default reaction would be if someone tries to move him while he is asleep or otherwise wakes him up roughly? Who knows :-)

"Ori," Calitynia repeats. "It is very nice to meet you. Most of my friends just call me Cali." Smiling, she continues, "And I did enjoy your music. I hope I'll get to hear you play more."
She quiets a moment as Drayan comes over. She glances to Ori as the half-elf asks about Wilberforce. "Are you and Wilberforce traveling together?" she asks the kender woman.
Ori looks at Daryan and then back to Cali. "I grew up in the same village as Wilberforce. But I hadn't seen him for ages until now. We met in the forest, we both stumbled along a badly burned wagon. We don't know what did it but we buried what was left of the dead and traveled the rest of the way here together."
She looks to Daryan, still slightly suspicious of the half-elf and still a little bitter about their earlier interaction, she tersely replies "I am not sure what room exactly he is staying in, but I will make sure he gets there safely. Good night to you both."
Ori walks over to Wilberforce's sleeping form and crouches over, very gently and very quietly she will try to coax him awake to get him up to his room.
The sound of Ori’s voice soothes Wilberforce as nothing else on Krynn can. The endless nightmares of the slave camps, the massacre and being forced to bury his little ones transform with the sound of her voice into happier memories that no longer have their sting. Wilberforce smiles and says while still mainly asleep ‘Lovely singing Orisatra. Now run off and play with the other children and Wilberforce will be along in a minute to read you all a story.’ Wilberforce drifts back to full sleep with a contented smile on his face.
[OOC] I don’t think that Wilberforce has even considered getting a room. He normally sleeps in the wild and a chair in a warm room actually seems like luxury to him.

The white-haired half-elf watches as Ori walks off to help Wilberforce after curtly dismissing Daryan's offer to help. He briefly glances over to the solamnic knight and shrugs, seeming a bit dismayed, more than he would admit to, looking out over the crowd as he leans back against the bar. "I suppose I would expect a Knight of Solamnia not bothering to be polite to a simple half-breed like myself, but in my experience kenders are usually not this picky with heritage. Oh, well, hopefully I will be admitted to rest here tonight at least." He says somewhat bitterly to himself.
As Pelo is sobbing to himself at a lone table, a dwarven woman approaches him. It is the one who took part in the funeral lowering Ispin's boat into the water. "You must be Pelo Surestaff," she says. "Thank you for sharing your memories with us all. My name's Ridomir Ironsmile, but everyone calls me Cudgel. Used to adventure with Ispin too, years back. Well. Anyway. Ispin left something for you. Come by the keep in the morning and Becklin and I will give it to you," she says.
Cudgel then heads over to the group of the knight, the two kender, and the half-elf. "Hey, I think you must be some of who I'm looking for: Wilberforce, Calitynia, Orisatra and Daryan, from the descriptions. Am I right? I'm Cudgel, by the way. Listen. Ispin has some things he wanted us to give you. Come by the keep in the morning, that's where Becklin has them stored." She looks around. "Don't suppose you've seen a dwarf, little torn up looking? Goes by Shagrin? Ispin has something special for him as well, haven't been able to find him though."
