His voice becomes dead serious as he glares at Maz.
"Just don't when dealing business"
He turns back to Marley.
"Let's see let's see glasses yes?" He walks over to a large book behind the counter.
"They glasses of dark seeing. There is some trick to em I don't know how they work. I give you good discount and you figure out yes? Um 50 gold we have deal"
Maz raises a hand to the back of his neck and chuckles sheepishly. “It was uh… worth a shot at least.” He looks away nervously.
“uhm, do you happen to have any magic instruments in here, or maybe some fancy jewelry. As a Bard I currently lacking the lavish items to portray my level of expertise.” He tries to puff his chest out to showcase how wonderful of a bard he is, but remembering he couldn’t charm the shop keeper has him feeling a bit deflated.
Marley puts the glasses back in the barrel, a thoughtful frown passing over his face. "Hmm... perhaps, let me think it over. Do you know where we can find some potions?"
"Let's not be too hasty. How about I toss in this wand of detection and knock off 10 gold. So both the glasses and the wand 40 gold yes much better deal."
DM: We wont RP the shop. I'll just post what you can buy and the cost.
Maz rubs his chin thinking about how fun an instrument of illusion could be. Then, he thinks to himself about what else he could spend 200 gold on. He looks at Ryu;
“that’s a bit steep for me. Thank you though sir.” He then heads toward the door to wait for the rest of the group.
Marley thinks it over... Ryu seems like a valuable connection and considering that things got off to a rocky start, it would be good for the party to at least buy something.
"Very well, you have a deal my friend. The first of many to come, I hope." He smiles widely as he hands over the 40 gp.
He will also purchase 6 Healing Potions, and votes for staying at the Fox and Hound.
Ryu: "wonderful! May you find the best use for your new glasses and wand cousin. Please come again soon I'll find new items maybe cheeper magic armor for you. Eh"
He leans in to whisper.
"Maybe talk your friend about how rude it is to cast a spell on someone yes or better yet just don't bring him"
The party leaves swings by the potion shop and heads to the Inn Mickey had told them about that morning before he left to go visit his aunt.
The Fox and Hound is a large establishment on the main intersection in market district.
Walking in the main hall is open and large full of tables with people eating and drinking. By the look of things it's mostly other adventures and mercenaries here to eat some royal gold.
A young halfling woman sees you and rushes over.
"Hello we have been expecting you. Your friend has reserved a table this way please."
She walks the party to a table off to one side where Mickey is sitting with a large bald human full of muscle.
Mickey "Hi guys. How was your day out on the town? I asked my aunt if she could put you guys up but she was not about it. But oddly after describing you guys to her. Sam you have been invited to tea as an open invitation. Apparently she has a thing for strong military men. Oh sorry guys this is Donald Klaus my cousin he and I took a job today and will be leaving tomorrow wanted to say bye to y'all before I left Would not have made it here without y'all. What's next for y'all?"
Marley sits back in his chair with a heavy sigh as he relaxes, then orders a round of drinks for everyone. "Well if you must be off my friend, then let Marley buy you a goodbye drink."
He takes a long drink of his ale when it arrives, and then pulls out his pipe and begins to pack it with the tobacco he bought today. "Ah, what's next... good question, yes. I saw a job list yesterday, expedition to some ruins... perhaps."
(Was Marley able to see the high quality scimitar?)
A few tables away, the party notices a tall woman with a sketch pad, completing a portrait of a young couple. The woman is striking in her appearance, both unusually tall and slight of build, her hair is auburn, streaked with blue and purple. It is hard to tell if this coloring is dyed or natural. She wears coveralls of a dark blue that are splattered with paints. Her arms are bare, a cark olive tinted with hues of azure. She completes the work and hands it to the couple, who laugh and hand her a few coins in exchange.
You catch her eye, and she walks over to the table.... "Let me do a sketch... such an unusual group..." she speaks with an unusual accent new to you.
Without waiting for a reply, she deftly lays out a fresh sheet of parchment on her tablet, and places an ink pot on the table. With simple movements of her fingers, she directs the quill to dance independently across the parchment, accessing her innate magical abilities.....
Maz sits down to eat and listen to the chit chat. His eyes wander around looking for the local bard to see if any entertainment is occurring.
You don't see any bards. A bar maid sees you eyeing the stage and stops for a moment as she walks past
"Open mic starts after 6. See the bartender to sign up dear."
Got mechanics for you
50 gold let's you play a set (max 1 a night). You describe what your performing and how you do it. Go into as much RP as you like or it can be as simple as I play the flute.
Then roll a performance check.
A 10 earns you your money back and it goes up from there. I have a hidden stat which basically is how famous you are. You also get bonuses if you have a special instrument or put on a good show that meets the taste for the patrons. Each area is different on that fact. The better you do the larger your fame gets the more money and praise you receive. Beware grow to famous though and you will get the negative side effects of fame but that won't happen anytime soon
"Ah... how interesting," Marley's initial surprise turns to fascination as he watches the woman work, lighting his pipe and taking a few thoughtful puffs. He waves the halfling over when he can catch her eye. "Another drink for her please, whatever she would like..." he gestures towards the aritst.

"If you like it...." She offers the completed sketch to the table, and holds out a hand.
Inside his head, Sam hears a voice that is not his own.... "What brings such a warrior as yourself to the Fox and Hound?"
