Dhara looks around at all her dusty companions. She assumes that all of them (except maybe Raven) know more about mining than she does.
"So, was our test surviving the cave in, or do ya'll reckon there's something else we need to do in this hole before we dig out and move on to the next one?"

Eb shrugs to Dhara's question, "Not sure, but establishing an egress should be priority one. When we have that, we might have more to go on for the next assignment."
A little surprisingly, the next room opens up into a vast chamber, with several other caves branching off that seem similarly designed to the one you just passed through - doors sealed with the same hardened plaster. Below you and before you, you stands none other than Donovan Retief, who quickly pockets a timepiece and grins at you happily, waving you forward. As you descend towards him in the cave, most of the other branching entrances are ripped open by similar drill-rigs to the one you have used to great effect, and the room soon fills with the various teams, most of whom were successful in passing the training course.
"Well done! Well done! Not setting any records, perhaps, but well done all the same! Now, as you all have passed this basic training course, you should now be familiar with how our machinery operates. You will often need to rely on these technologies to detect unknown dangers and to rework the natural cave systems of Hoxley's Range to better suit our operations!"
Contented mutterings echo throughout the room - several of the dwarves even look proud of their accomplishments, though you suspect that the real thing is going to be substantially more difficult.
"Now, the next phase of your preparation is before you! Most of you will be going the long way around to get to your zones of operation, following the safer river course and portage system outlined by Mr. Hoxley's rangers over the last two years. A few of you, however, will be joining Mr. Hoxley himself to go ahead of the main party and establish a few footholds. HX-449888 and HX-449891, due to your sterling performance on the training course, you will accompany Mr. Hoxley across the Greater Seborians by rail, and then foot, across the Seborian Steppe. You will leave tomorrow, so write your mothers a letter and report to Mr. Hoxley in Cabin 4 at sunup!"
As HX-44891, you all exchange glances with each other. The dour Mr. Hoxley will probably not prove to be a friendly traveling companion, but his efficiency and record for safety couldn't be doubted. You spot the other group, HX-449888, who are actively cheering and celebrating with each other over the honor of first setting foot on the new territory. For dwarves, they are all relatively massive, the shortest among them standing in at just below 5ft, with most of them bearing shoulders nearly as broad. "Hey, don't you slow us down, 891!" Jeers one of the more boisterous members. Retief scowls a little, but moves on with his report, detailing the six month journey ahead of the remaining dwarf miners and the not inconsiderable dangers they will face on the long, river-route to Hoxley's Range.
(We'll move into a quick moment of downtime! You are each afforded 500 GP as an advance wage to spend here at base camp or to carry with you to your next destination. Opportunities to spend said money will become scarcer the farther away from civilization you go, so keep that in mind. Base Camp #3 is equipped with all sorts of entertainment and practical services - temples, smiths, armorers, emporiums, the works. Creative uses of your last evening in civilization will be awarded with inspiration, boons and other opportunities!)
Thondor’s expression signals neither satisfaction nor resentment as he accepts payment for his efforts. His silent nod of acknowledgement at his fellow group members represents the maximum emotional expression that he is capable of showing.
He begins to inquire trying to find a high end smithy selling the finest of weapons and armor (ideally enchanted gear) or an apothecary to stock up on potions when he hears a ruckus brewing between his team leader and a over-enthusiastic member of another group…
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Having passed their training session Eb looks back on his group and says with a slight smile on his face and in a voice just loud enough for the group to hear, "Congratulations on passing everyone, sounds like we did pretty well to end up with a special assignment..." Interrupted by the buffoon in the other group, the smile slips and a flash of anger ripples across Eb's face. He looks to the rude little dwarf and says "Your arsehole must be jealous about the amount of crap that is coming out of your fecking mouth, friend." (casting vicious mockery DC13 wis save 4 )
Raven claps her hands excitedly. Her team had come out on top, just as she knew it would. They had HER after all. How could they do poorly? And now they get to go with Mr. Hoxley and explore new areas. How exciting! Plus, she actually thinks Mr. Hoxley is quite an interesting person. He's just a human after all, and he's running this whole operation with a bunch of dwarves! She won't be the only non-dwarf on this mission! ...not that that bothers her even a bit, she's quite comfortable in the company of dwarves, but still this will be interesting.
She glances at the loud group of giant dwarves who make up the other team. "Us? Slow you down?" She laughs loud and shrill, "That's a good joke! You lot might be big, but that might just prove your downfall! Tehe. We won't have to dig near as large tunnels for us to travel through, which means YOU better not slow US down you hear?" She giggles.
As her group walks past she sticks her tongue out at the other team, then smiles sweetly at them, turns on her heal, and skips over to Dhara. "Want to go shopping with me? We can help each other pick out our gear!" She walks next to the other woman, hands clasped behind her back and face smiling up at her, and a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. "Ooooooor we could go find some scorpions and stick them in the other teams boots!"
Dhara can't help but smirk at the thought of dropping scorpions in the other teams' boots. Having said that... she really doesn't like the idea of antagonizing a group of dwarves who are almost twice her size if they don't have to.
"Well dearie, I think that might just be a good idea to go do a bit of shopping," Dhara says cheerfully, doing her best to mask her growing concern at the situation with the rival mining team. "Though to tell you the truth, I don't reckon it's likely I'll need much more than a few healing potions and a couple ration packs for our next adventure... unless of course we come across a nice little magic trinket or two for a good price."

"Okie dokie." Raven replies, "Tehe, it looks like Thondor has the same idea!" She points at the psi warrior who is currently making his way over to the shopping district. "Perhaps we should follow him? He looks like he knows where he's going. Plus it might be a good idea to tell each other what we are getting! That way, we don't buy a bunch of the same stuff!"She grins, "That's just a thought though. I can help you get gear! You know, for a dwarf you don't seem like you have much experience traipsing around underground. I've never been a miner before, but it can't be to different from archeology can it? Hehe. They both involve digging, and exploring underground caverns. Oooo! Do you think we could stumble across an ancient dwarven or maybe drow city? That would be sooooo cool. I bet there would be a lot of valuable stuff down there......"The bubbly gnome will continue rambling and theorizing about what they might find while mining in this new area for a good minute or two before suddenly saying, "Oh right we were going shopping and not scorpion hunting. Where do you want to go first?"
Dhara can't help but smirk when Raven accuses her of not having much experience in the underground.
"I ain't gonna deny that charge," the dwarf woman says with a chuckle. "My folks weren't miners... they were merchants, and that's what I was supposed to be doin' with my life if my dear father had his way. Thing about that is, I really never had too much of a passion nor a talent for buying and selling. I was always a lot more interested in learning the mystic arts... unfortunately, sitting in a library all day doesn't pay the bills, and I've got a lot of brothers and sisters who need me after father passed away. But I figured my talents could be put to some good use around here, and it seems that the folks in charge agreed."

(If there is no further interaction with the the other group of dwarfs) Eb sneers at the other group, grumbles to himself and starts to turn back to his group, turning the sneer into a smile, "As I was saying, good job everyone! After your shopping is complete, I would like to buy you all a pint or two over at the tavern." With that and with most of group setting out, Eb goes looking for enough components for at least one casting of find familiar. He is also going to look for healing potions or odd magical items. When finished he will head back to the tavern and find a table for his group.
"Ah I see!" Raven replies, "Well, parents have to learn that they can't control their children forever ya know? It's all fine and well when a kid actually wants to follow in their folks footsteps, but when they don't or they just aren't good at it...well then there is a problem. I'm lucky my folks were understanding.....speaking of them I should probably write them a letter." She stares off into the distance eyes going a bit blank for a second before her face snaps back into it's usual cheery expression. "Hehe, I also get they paying the bills thing. My family might not rely on me to provide for them, but I still gotta feed myself! You'd think getting a good price for artifacts and precious metals would be easy, but it turns out if you don't have the right credentials, it's hard to actually sell them for what they are worth. I never went to school to learn about any of this stuff. Everything I know I learned on my own. But apparently merchants want you to be an expert on everything you sell. That or they want you to get it looked at by an expert before they buy it, and that costs a good deal of coin. If I had to take every piece I found to a jeweler, historian or trained archeologist, I'd never make any money on anything. So I always had to take the lower price on everything I don't send back to my family, and that leaves me barely scraping by. So, that's why I'm here!" She grins, "Anyway I'm sure your skills will be very useful! Together you and I can prove that magic is a far superior tool compared to muscles!"
Thondor - Finding a master craftsman is surprisingly easy in this area, and you quickly locate the finest establishment they have. They have a thorough stockpile of +1 enchanted weapons, as well as most uncommon magic items for sale. They are also possessed of a few rare Titanium-alloy blades, beautifully damasked and very dangerous as a +2 weapon (many of them with additional effects, such as armor destruction on critical hits, Magical warding runes and even an axe with spell-slot storage. These are all top shelf items, however, so without some bargaining they are quite out of your price range at the moment). The establishment, knowing it's clientele quite well, also sells potions (for which they offer discounted priced when sufficient amounts of cash are spent on the metalwork!)
Eb - At your spell, the dwarf who you had particularly insulted gets a nosebleed, but shrugs it off. After a little more banter back and forth, you manage to get on fairly good terms with most of them - the Ironheads, they call themselves, after their peculiarly crafted metal helmets - and they buy you a round of Appleworm Ale at the tavern later. You still get the feeling that several of them harbor resentment, but several of their more charismatic dwarfs have taken a liking to you, so the conversation is genial. Later, and ever so slightly inebriated, you claim a table for your party. Austrig finds you there and, having already set up his supplies with a few added special rations, waits patiently alongside, watching the rough and ready dwarves enter and leave at a pretty consistent rate.

Thondor enters the armory and begins to survey their wares. He will pick up a few weapons and give a swing to test their balance, giving an occasional grunt of appreciation.
As it becomes clear that he cannot afford any of the high end merchandise, he will simply exchange his chain mail for regular Splint Armor. He will point out to the merchant that the chain mail has recently had its joints reinforced with hardened mining paste (Persuasion 14 ). He will also pick up a set of Mason’s Tools.
With his remaining funds he will look for a Bag of Holding or failing that he will put his remaining funds into healing potions.
"You got that right, love," Dhara says, patting the smaller woman on the shoulder. "Right then, now let's see if we can't find ourselves some solid gear before we start on the job."
Dhara would like to pick up two Potions of Healing, an Explorer's Pack and, if she can find one that she can afford, a Bag of Holding.
Branmar zones out for a moment at the receipt of five hundred gold pieces, making a mental list of the tools and equipment he plans to purchase. He smiles heartily, not having expected such a generous advance payment.
Following the others towards the stores, Branmar occasionally mutters to himself what sounds to be an inventory list of tools. Once they arrive he searches out various craftsman in search of a rather extensive list to replace the tools he had previously lost in his old shop. Anyone that happens to be with him at any of the shops sees him purchase several items and stuff them down into the bag at his side, several of which that certainly should not have fit inside. ((Purchased potion of healing (2), bedroll, bell, blanket, block & tackle, carpenter's tools, chain (10ft), chalk (5pcs), cook's utensils, fishing tackle, grappling hook, sledge hammer, jug, ladder, leatherwork's tools, lock, mess kit, steel mirror, oil (5 flasks), miner's pick, pole (10ft), portable ram, rations (20 days), shovel, soap, iron spikes (10), string (5), Tankard, 2-person tent, waterskin (5), woodcarver's tool, basket, sack (3), and a bucket))
Content that he is prepared for nearly any circumstance that may arise, Branmar makes a final stop at the armorer to purchase two new suits of armor (splint and a chain shirt) and stuffs them into his bag as well. He then heads to where he is sleeping for the night and pulls several tools and the armor from his bag to begin making alterations for fit and functionality. When finished, Branmar waits until he is alone for a moment to open the back of his armor and hop out, lowering himself onto a chair while the armor remains standing in place. He slowly dons the modified splint armor over the next thirty or so minutes. Weaving magic into his smith's tools he activates his new Arcane Armor which quickly expands to cover his entire body and replace the missing limbs on the right side of his body. As the armors transformation finishes, the old suit standing next to him collapses into a pile on the ground.
Branmar never makes it to the tavern that night as he instead remains in his makeshift work area and goes through his new gear piece by piece. He examines everything's quality, fixing any flaws and thoroughly cleaning each before returning it to his bag.
((Please let me know if there is a +1 All-Purpose Tool(uncommon, Tasha's) and/or Prosthetic Limbs(common, Tasha's) available and how much they cost. I may edit this post and my purchases if they are available and affordable, especially the All-Purpose Tool.))
((To those considering Bags of Holding, I do have one from my class feature that can be used to hold some group stuff. But it is currently 3/4 of the way full with Branmar's traveling workshop. If that affects your purchase at all.))
